One of the most frequent questions I receive is in regards to the boy’s wardrobe. Where do I get it? What do I buy? Do I have any tips?
The answer is…I shop all over. So I thought it would be fun to do exactly what I did last week. Except do it for boys. No…not window shop maternity clothing to put on my three year old son. That’s just weird. I just wanna show ya exactly what I’m diggin’ recently at a few of my favorite places to score kiddo clothes. Maybe you’ll spot some trends. Maybe you’ll see how I choose clothes for my little man. Maybe not. Either way, this should be loads of fun 🙂
Old Navy has been improving on their boys stuff. In general, they are pretty touch and go for me. Sometimes there is nothing…sometimes tons of cute options. Right now I feel like they actually have some things that would make my little guy even cuter than he already is. Haha. Yeahrightlikethat’spossible 🙂
Y’all pray for me. Tuesday marks Will’s very first day of preschool. I’m probably gonna be laying face down in the parking lot wallowing in a puddle of my tears the entire time he is there. Not. Even. Kidding.

Hey Katie. Thinking of you today. Hang in there. It gets more bearable. When we dropped our little guy off on his first day, I ran over to Target to pick up a little car to celebrate how well he went into the classroom and I felt like one of my arms was missing. So used to having him by my side and constantly aware of where he was.
Just dropped him off at the University of Michigan for his first year of college. Definitely more difficult than preschool. But these steps are necessary for them to mature and become independent, well-functioning adults. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Cute stuff! I’m dying for a boy for #2, so this is making me jealous 🙂
I think Old Navy has cute baby stuff, but I find the quality is typically not great…
Lauren @ The Highlands Life says
Praying for you as you send Will to preschool. He’ll be fine and you will too. Hang in there!
Sara says
Yay for Will going to preschool! I’ll be thinking of you, mama! Be strong – you’ve raised that boy so well.

Hey Katie!
Too funny you posted this, I was JUST looking at their site and love everything they have now. Don’t you find it hard to shop for Boys clothing? I swear girls get all the good stuff! Jack starts preschool on Sept 4th so I hear ya. My husband said he thinks I am going to stay in the parking lot every day till his class ends….But I think it will be great for you. A little more rest until baby #3 comes 🙂 How many weeks are you? I hope this pregnancy goes smoothly for you. #nosciaticapleaseandthanks

Katie, I get it. You’re a stay-at-home mom/blogger with two small kids, another on the way, and a giant house. You’ve got bills to pay. But really…you’ve lost me with these constant sponsored posts. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. I’m a long time reader and love your original content. But the number of sponsored posts lately is out of control. You might be lining your pockets, but you’re losing readers. Myself included.
Nicole says
Yay for preschool! My 3 year old started last Tuesday just two days a week. She loves it! I hope Will does too. I surprisingly didn’t cry..but I don’t stay home with my kids either they stay with a family member while I’m at work. Good luck and I’m sure he will have a blast!
bex says
He’ll do just fine! Good thing you’ve got the Small W and Numero Tres to distract you. 🙂 Good luck getting throught the day.
Kelli G says
I agree, they’re totally iffy sometimes. But I’m DIGGIN’ their fall/winter stuff. Lately I’m especially a sucker for cardigans and elbow patches. Nothing says “I’m adorable” like old man gear on a 2 year old 😉

I really miss your awesome decorating and DIY posts. I saw that pic of Weston’s wall on Instagram, can you show us what you’re doing/did? I know you’re not strictly a DIY blog, and I like that you mix your content up with family stuff and clothing posts, but lately there have been so many clothes posts. You’re one of my favorite blogs, I just miss seeing your creative endeavors!

I will be looking forward to all of these posts this week! Old Navy is our go-to for our two boys (ages 4 and 2), but look forward to seeing where else you like to shop. Clothes shopping for boys is tough!
Lynn @ Our Useful Hands says
These are super cute options for the little man. I prefer H&M for a consistent never lets me down little boys clothes outing personally, but once in a blue moon when I am nearby I’ll pop my head in and check out Old Navy. I hope Tuesday (today?) goes well for you with sending off your firstborn to school. Just breathe…then cry…then breathe again. It will get easier with every passing day. And enjoy the little break in noise you now get in your day. 🙂
My best, Lynn

Love this!! My son is 2 1/2 and I have trouble finding cute things that aren’t just graphic t-shirts that say “little slugger” on them! Keep them coming!!

Praying for you Katie. Went through that last year with my son and this year he’s starting Kindergarten… in a week. Sob. I can’t even think about it or I’ll have a panic attack. Will is very lucky to have a mommy who adores him so much she can’t stand to see him go. Hugs.

I enjoyed the maternity picks last week (I’m 27 weeks and feeling blah about my current maternity wardrobe and you gave me some new places to check out!) and look forward to all your little guy picks this week – I love Old Navy for pjs and t-shirts for our 2yo and can’t wait to see what other places you recommend.
Hope today wasn’t too stressful for you with Will’s first day at preschool!

I heart Old Navy! They have such affordable basics!

Not quite at the pre-school stage yet, but my daughter is in day care 2 days a week. I am sitting here working and wondering how many minutes until I can go pick her up. This is hard…..so I get the face down in the parking lot crying. I am sure he had a fabulous time! 🙂

I love Old Navy but only when the in-season stuff really goes on sale. Love in the summer when they have their $7 tees. Thinking of you as you send Will to preschool. I am sure he will do great! I live in a really rural area and the only preschool option is at the big elementary school and it’s all day long with the regular school kids. I so wish we had a morning MDO program or similar in my area. My little guy would probably love going for a few hours during the week but I think full on school at 4 is just too much. Do you shop at Carters? They are having a great sale this weekend and I love their coordinated stuff.

Never left a comment here before but my little guy starts next week and I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! Hang in there…I am already forming a blog post in my head about my feelings about it! Congrats on your newest addition and love your blog! Blessings to you and your bunch!

I feel ya on old navy, definitely a bit touch and go 🙂 but I love everything you picked out! So I may have to buzz by there soon!
Katie says
I miss it too but we got still real life…ya know!? There will be a post about Weston’s wall sometime (when I actually finish – it’s 75% of the way painted.) I do still post DIY projects (like last week’s office curtains and laundry room painted) but obviously there is only certain number of hours in the day.

Hi Erica…totally get it. I wish I were lining my pockets…the moolah that I earn with sponsored posts goes straight to pay for this blog and keeping it up and running and for blog uses (it’s a business so expenses like trademarks, post office box, external hard drives, taxes, etc.). I know it might be confusing but we do love it and want to do it but at some point we all have limitations…and sponsored posts help make little and big things happen. I do have a max of four sponsored posts per month (it’s an average of one a week) and I hope that folks understand that I try to make those posts relevant and interesting and only endorse products that I would actually buy and use. If it still rubs ya the wrong way, I totally get that you might wanna spend your time elsewhere.

As a mom to a 19 year old who just started his sophomore year in college, and my 15 year old baby who started high school today, I can totally relate to your face down feelings.
As a preschool teacher, I want to assure you that Will’s day will be planned for him to have a blast, play with his new buddies and learn a little too. He will have so much to tell you when you pick him up. It is such a fun beginning to this process of “growing them up”.
Keep being you, Katie Bower. Will and Weston are blessed to call you Mom.

Love Old Navy for little boy clothes! I’m constantly finding things there for my nephew and niece! They had the cutest sandals and tops this year for girls…maybe next year that’s what you’ll be getting too if you have a little girl of your own!! 🙂

I’m due the first part of March so how many weeks is that?

Yay! I have a little boy (18 months) and after having two girls, I struggle a bit to find cute boys clothes. Looking forward to seeing your picks!

Let me be frank. I do.

I do. But there are some things I like to keep on the DL until I’m ready to share.

Robyn says
Lovely clothes, do they wash well in the toilet or are they more of a gentle cycle garment?
Katie says
These are wish list items. So far, we don’t own anything from these lists so I have no idea. I imagine that if my potty-trained three year old were to have enough of the squirts in his underwear and that were to leak into his pants, they would rinse out fine in any body of disposable water. And I personally don’t use the gentle cycle on kids clothing just simply because I find better results on dirt and food with a different approach. I am more of a hot water/dry low kinda girl…unless the instructions require cold water/hang dry.

p.s. I thought in your last comment you said you were done with my blog? did you change your mind? 🙂

I hope Will’s first day went well for you both! Keep up the awesomeness KB!

Oh no, I am sorry if I seemed to be nosey!
I understand you want to keep it private. I am so happy for you!
And I think you are doing a great job, I hope you see that too.

wash well in the toilet?? hahaha what the heck? Did I miss something? I have soaked plenty of stuff in the toilet with poop on it before. I mean..that is where poop goes! Unless you think it belongs elsewhere…then you need to work on your hygiene a bit more. Or get a human sized litter box…I wonder what you would use for litter? What do you think Katie?
I think it is gross to soak poop in a sink. I mean my dirty dishes go in there!
Gosh, how many times did I say poop? Lets do one more for good measure. Poop.
Well, I’m off to poop in the sink…
Melissa
Katie says
This cracked me up. And yes…I think some folks got fired up when I put a poopie pair of jammies in the toilet to soak. Different folks, different strokes, I guess!

I am needing to buy a slip cover for my couch and I noticed the couch in these pics have a slip cover. The couch reminds me a lot of mine and I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your slipcover? 🙂 Love your blog by the way.
Katie says
The slipcover on our couch actually came with it. It was from the Pottery Barn outlet.

Melissa says
Thanks Katie. I think maybe I just want a new couch entirely but it would be nice to find a slipcover that fits 🙂
I love your blog and your sweet little family. You and your friend Sherry have been inspiring me for years with all your beautiful décor and diy work. Keep posting all the fun things you come up with. My poor husband and I always have a project thanks to all the great ideas we get from my favorite blogs and websites 🙂
