Last night. How do I say this?
It. Was. Outrageously cool.
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I went to a Home Depot in Atlanta. What’s so special about that Katie? Don’t you go to home improvement stores every other day? Well, yes. I do. But this one just so happened to be the Home Depot that was hosting a book signing of Ana White. You know…the girl that is the reigning queen of at-home-furniture-building.
Ana is freaking amazing. Like if all the world was a Mounds bar, this girl is an Almond Joy. And she’s nuts about wood. Put that on a tshirt and order me a bakers dozen.
Seriously though….she really is one of the sweetest and smartest and most-down-to-earth and real girls I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. And she’s so smart that it makes me feel like a country bumpkin….oh wait….I am a country bumpkin 🙂 One of the coolest parts about getting to see her again in person (we actually met through blogging, did a Pinterest Challenge together with $herdogg & Erin & 400+ of you, and met for the first time at Haven), was being able to introduce our boytoys. That’s right. Her Momplex building husband Jacob was there and Jer went too (he said that he needed a wrench but I think he was just as starstruck as I am!). So if getting to see her wasn’t enough to make me crotch sweat with joy into my leggings, getting her to sign my copy of her new book & chatting them up at dinner was just the grease on my bacon. Yup. We went to dinner.
(!!!)
Of course, I was the sweaty pregnant girl with the toddler and the bag of Teddy Grahams while they were both cool as Alaskan cucumbers ordering fancy things like asparagus. But at the end of the night and fourteen hugs later (I’m sure she was tired of my giant belly crushing her)…I was so happy to digest the real-life-fellowship of a dear blog friend and pour over her new book. Which leads me to my next point….if you don’t have the book already….you. want. this. book.
And if possible, you wanna hit up the book signings. She is here in Atlanta for today’s signing…so you local folks get on that.
Speaking of books and blogs….I would be a terrible friend to you if I failed to mention that Sherry & John finally have their book coming out too! I got a sneak peek at it way back in editing mode and it’s basically the holy grail of easy updates for your home. It blew my socks off too and I didn’t even get to see the illustrations or any of the juicy eye candy.
Isn’t it just simply great that bloggers are getting published and the world is finally getting to see the awesomeness that we have been fawning over for years?! I am so so so proud of these inspiring and hardworking couples….and I am so proud and so humbled to call both Ana & Sherry friends.

The other thing that came up from our dinnertime conversation was the subject of gluten. Now I am not a dietician or really interested in losing weight (hello I am pregnant) or hearing the other million plus advantages of going gluten-free in my diet. I am not interested in paleo (I am perfectly happy reading several paleo-happy blogs and cheering for those people along their adventure). I am however very interested in experiments. It’s the geeky scientist in me. And there are a few physical benefits that I would love…like perhaps the chance at reducing my headaches and maybe having a little more focus and a little more energy.
So for the next ten days, I am going to try to go gluten free and we will see if it benefits me. Pray. Pray hard. O’Charlie’s rolls – I will miss you.
Moving on.
A few weeks ago we went to Jer’s hometown – Chattanooga. We got to visit the cousins. Will and Asher are like two peas in a pod.
Look how much they’ve grown!
And we got to meet sweet new cousin Darby! She is a doll….complete and utterly beautiful.
But back to the book thing…
while we were there, we got to hand deliver the grandparent’s day presents….
They were mini accordian books from Mpix.com. They had a promotion a few weeks before hand and I was on top of the ball (shocker for us all!). I put in photos of Will….one of each month in 2011 (I would have done 2012 but it’s not over yet.)
I don’t know why the preview showed a black cover…I got the blue which is a really pretty Martha-Stewarty-blue. Now I wish I would have ordered one for myself…which I can still do. Mental note!
So that’s what I got for today….what books have you guys been pouring over lately? Anyone preordered YHL’s and Ana’s book yet? Or think Asher’s white blonde hair is just too cute for words? Yeah me too 🙂
Oregonienne says
Good luck with the Gluten Experiment! We’ve cut it out but I found it was *much* easier to stop the gluten if I also cut out sugar. But only in the beginning – I’m happy again with my dark chocolate now. 🙂
So excited for both books – hello, Christmas list!

I would love a follow up post about how the paint works out. I am worried you aren’t sure about it, as that was my plan for our kitchen cabinets (practically brand new, but chosen in a rush, when heavily pregnant to boot!) So many of the blogs have recommended BM Advance…. We will probably hire out the painting though…Your Jeremy is brave, my Jeremy is afraid to diy this one! Can’t wait to see your finished project!
Mary says
Good luck with your gluten experiment. Several members of my family have loads more energy after cutting it out. FYI, a nutritionist once told me that in order to feel the benefits you have to cut it out for at least 14 days (because that’s how long the traces can stay in your system) – that’s what I heard, but I’m not expert.
MelissaH says
You totally just made my day with this awesome post. I have been following Ana for almost 2.5 years (and made a bunch of her projects) and you for almost a year and I seriously love that you too hung out. It’s like in grade school when your school friends meet your church friends and they actually love to play together! Best of both worlds! Also I was dying laughing at your random collection of things included in this post. I am so scatterbrained that it fit me perfectly!
Kerry says
Good luck going gluten free! I have celiac disease and it is a daily battle making sure I am eating the correct foods. Just watch sauces, gluten tends to creep its way into things. One thing that is a wonderful substitute is quinoa, it is filling and healthy! Also corn pasta is genius, I could kiss the person that created it!
Keep us posted, I always like to hear people’s feedback on this lifestyle. Also a little FYI I gained weight going G-free, not a lot..but still I ate healthier when I could eat it.
susan says
I need Ana’s book! We are for sale, and when we move to San Diego, we would LOVE to build an eco-friendly, sorta off-grid, feng shui square of a house 🙂 Nate Berkus has a new book coming out soon too-looking forward to that. YHL looks cute but hubby and I already do most of what they do ( we are just not famous for it, lol ).
Gluten is a hot topic these days. You may find it all different when you are no longer preggers, too. Hope it works out well for you. I know that keeping carbs to a minimum makes me feel best. If you don’t take vitamin D…you should 🙂
Katie says
Whoa! I don’t even do most of what John & Sher do! Hello deck building! That’s impressive! Thanks for the tip on vitamin D!

If you’re going gluten free for awhile, there is a pretty cool bakery in Dunwoody (fellow Georgia girl here) that has entirely gluten free baked goods! Amazing cupcakes, yummy breakfast bread, and homemade ginger snaps! It’s The Dunwoody Bakery, look it up online and come visit!
Joy says
Crotch sweat… Ha, I get that too:) Can’t believe I just admitted that. Hope the gluten free trial works for you. I love OCharlies rolls too!
Carla says
So very sad Ana is not making her way to NJ! I would love to meet her (and YOU for that matter so come shopping at our HD!!). So. Awesome.
What’s the new thing about going gluten-free?? Just curious because I am obviously out-of-the-loop!! I went Vegan before my daughter was born 2 years ago and was super healthy (now I’m just a Veggie but I totally cheat by eating cheese occasionally – ACK!!). Good luck to you on this experiment especially being preggo 🙂
Love the books – Will is too cute!
Ginny J says
Now all that’s needed is the Bower Power book! 😉
Shamaira says
I preordered Ana’s book and brought it with me to the signing last night. While I was sweating and fumbling over my words meeting Ana, my husband was chatting it up it with her husband. I was so flattered that she remembered a project that I’d posted on her website two years ago. I bet dinner was tons of fun! I love the grandparents’ gift. I’ll have to check out mpix.
another KB says
I don’t know WHAT it is, but you always have pics of the cutest dang kids on here! Can’t wait for you to add another one to the bunch 🙂
Lesley says
I saw that Ana was going to be in Atlanta and was wondering if you were going to that signing. Scary that I knwo your next move haha.. but so happy to see the pic of two of my favorite bloggers together. I hope Ana’s book tour is extended. I am going to Sherry & John’s in a few weeks. Now the only thing missing from this is a Bower Power book. Come on get on that will ya 😉
Katie @ NYCitied says
I’m VERY interested to hear about the outcome of your gluten challenge. To me the whole gluten free thing feels kind of like a food trend, designed to make people pay a premium for baked goods. I’m a jaded NYer though, so as a fellow pregnant girl, I’m anxious to hear about your real life experience with it!
Brandy says
I love all of the awesome home books out this fall! And it’s so exciting you had dinner with Ana. I’d love to bump into you in Chattanooga. I absolutely love living here, nothing compares for me. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! Praying for a healthy baby!
Katie says
haha…unless you want a big book on bacon related items, I’m no author 🙂

Katie says
oooh! I am in Dunwoody for doctors appointments in the coming week so I’ll have to check it out! Thanks girl!

Katie says
Well, from what I’ve heard, most folks started going gluten free because of celiac disease. I don’t have that but I’ve heard that foregoing on the wheat products can help you with your energy levels, your digestive health as well as numerous other things. It’s an experiment so we will see how it goes!

Heather says
I actually found your blog through YHL and am so excited about their book! A book that I recently read in one day (no joke it was that good) was Shawn Johnson’s book called Winning Balance…. Very inspirational and uplifting! Good luck with the gluten free as well!
Rita Wilson says
How fun!!! My husband lived in Chatanooga for 5 years and graduated from High school there. I LOVE the area, would move there in a heart beat if we could. Good luck with the gluten free diet change, would love to see if it makes a difference, feeling like my brain has turned to mush. 🙂
Abby says
So fun to get to know and meet blog friends! As far as gluten… I have done that gone on anti-gluten kicks several times and I must say I always feel better… not sure why I don’t just stick with it!
Sarah @ The Ugly Duckling House says
I’m SO glad you put that pic on Instagram… I was sure I’d missed out on seeing her before even knowing she was in town and made a comment on Facebook. Then one of my followers made a comment that she was still in Atlanta and I went to the second signing tonight. (That seems more complicated than it is – social media overload!)
I met her briefly at Haven (& you too), but it was so awesome to have some time to really talk! So very, very sweet.
candace says
Good luck with going gluten-free! I tried the same experiment last summer and it’s hard for the first week but gets better. Do what you think is best, but when I did some research, it showed that gluten stays in your system a long time…so you might not see results after only 10 days. Oh and be careful, gluten is a sneaky ingredient, it’s in everything! You can do it!
Ginny @ goofymonkeys says
So cool! I definitely have the YHL book on my Christmas list and I’ll check out Ana’s book too. I love her furniture plans. We’ve only built one thing of her design (a bed for our daughter) but it’s fantastic!
Hannah@TheErohs says
I’m going to be trying my darndest to go see John and Sherry when they’re here in Florida in January. I can’t wait!
I cook gluten free for my hubby. He’s not celiac but does have…issues…that he says go away when he avoids gluten. It wasn’t easy at first (gluten free menus at restaurants can be very spartan) but I make a lot of our food from scratch now which is better for you than all that processed junk anyway. Good luck with the experiment! If you need any recipes or tips just ask!
Stacey says
Dr. Oz had an episode on going gluten free, it was a few weeks ago this new season. Some of the symptoms he talked about were brain fogg, exema, no energy, achy joints depression and possably headaches. You can view full episodes online. I have been experimenting with this for two weeks now, probably just the power of suggestion but I have really noticed a difference. I will keep up the experiment for awhile and who knows maby there is somthing to this.
Rachelle says
So wish I could get to Chicago to see Ana and so glad you all had dinner together. My brother in law is actually moving to Alaska. We of course will be visiting. Is it stalking to look up a blogger celebrity if you are in their area?
Megan says
I am way too excited to see a shout out for mpix! I live 30 min away from their factory and adore using them for my photography. I have been wanting to try a flip book and the ones with Will are beyond wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Now I’m definitely finding a reason to buy a flip book (maybe my Nov wedding? 🙂 )
Kathy says
I pre-ordered John and Sherry’s book, and absolutely can’t wait to get it! Unfortunately, they are not coming to California on their book tour, but I would love to meet them in person. Also, some of my favorite posts on YHL and Bower Power are the ones that feature you and Sherry. They are always so inspiring and funny! The other book written by a blogger I am loving is Cupcakes and Cashmere.
Carmel says
You are the cutest prego ever! Can’t wait for the YHL book! I’ve been gluten free for over 3 months now. It’s a lot easier than I thought it would be – can’t wait to hear your results.
Cordia says
Yeah, I pretty much think I will be a big embarassed dork when I hopefully meet John and Sherry on their book tour. I am so thrilled they are coming somewhat close to me- Toronto (and I’m in Buffalo). All I can say is thank goodness I recently got my passport card! I got it soley for the purpose of going over the border to Ikea, the closest one to me, but now even better that I can meet John and Sherry. And just so you feel the love, when I was in Georgia this past Spring, I had hoped I might run into you at Stone Mountain, lol. I told my husband we were in BowerPower country. He thinks I’m crazy.
Amelia says
Good luck going gluten free! It is much easier today than it was 7 or 8 years ago when I had to because of a Celiac diagnosis. It is tough, especially when it comes to eating out, but there is an app for that. It really helped my stomach issues. Don’t give up or get discouraged, just do what is right for you! If you need resources, let me know!
Jimmy says
Good luck with cutting out gluten. My wife has been g-free for a few years now. It’s made a big difference for her (migraines gone, no more persistent gastro issues that plagued her for years). By default, my diet is typically gluten free as well and I notice no difference whatsoever. I don’t have the intolerance like she does, so it doesn’t effect me to eat gluten or cut it out. While the added attention to gluten problems has been great (and made going GFree a lot easier), it’s added the mis-perception that going gluten free is some sort of catch-all miracle diet that will make anyone feel better. But the truth is that it won’t make a lick of difference if the person doesn’t have an actual intolerance to gluten (or Celiac, which is a whole different beast). And as far as “diets” go, this one is incredibly high in fat to be called one. That’s because a lot of the GF food brands use increased fat to make the foods they produce taste better (or to add the elasticity in texture that occurs in wheat products but not in GF flours). If you’re intolerant to gluten, this is a reasonable trade-off (possibly gaining a little weight in exchange for no longer feeling like crap all the time). If someone is going on “the gluten free diet” as way to lose weight, they will be sorely disappointed.
But! That being said, this diet is a life-saver (literally for Celiacs, figuratively for the gluten intolerant like my wife), and can make a world of difference if your body has trouble or simply refuses to process the gluten protein.
After you have the baby, if you are still going GFree, I highly, highly recommend searching your local beer stores for a brand called Omission Beer from the Widmer brewery in Portland, OR (they have a lager and a pale ale, both great). That is hands down the best GF beer I have ever tried – and we have tried a lot.
Lindsey says
Hi Katie B!
We’ve been gluten free at our house for a little over year after 2 of my hubby’s cousins were diagnosed with Celiac. Hubby was having extreme fatigue and doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong so he decided to just do an experiment like you’re doing! It took 3 weeks, but the day he hit 3 weeks it was like the fog lifted. His mood swings stopped, he had more energy, he wanted to work out again… Then his sisters decided to try going gluten free too and they both saw their migraines disappear after about 2 weeks. If any of them have a spec of gluten, all their symptoms come back.
So, I just wanted to say–maybe consider giving it a little longer for your experiment if you don’t feel any changes within 10 days! (I’ll also throw in that I did the experiment too and I felt no different at all… so gluten really is fine for some people! Going GF really helps some people, but for other people it’s no problem)
We make a lot of foods from scratch to avoid gluten hidden in things–but two of our favorite gluten free things are Tinkyada brown rice pasta and Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch bars. Bob’s Red Mill has awesome GF oats. Annie’s has mac & cheese…. GF bread is WAY better if you toast it… If you have a recipe that calls for bread crumbs, you can whiz up some GF corn Chex or corn chips as a substitue…
Our motto has been–just eat stuff that is naturally gluten free instead of trying to substitute, because the substitutes are usually not that great. We eat a lot of rice and beans, stir frys, soups, salads, meat loaf made w/ oatmeal, sweet ptoatoes, pasta w/ brown rice pasta. Anyway–I have tons of recipes if you need any help! You can do it! I PROMISE eating GF is really easy once you get past the first week or two. We don’t even think about it anymore! And hubby feels so much better he isn’t even remotely tempted to eat gluten.
Sorry I wrote so much–but I just want to encourage you! I hope you feel better!
And I think the GF thing is a trend, but I really do think it DOES help certain people. I’ve heard that the reason it’s becoming so much more prevalent is all the genetically modified stuff that’s going into our food these days and some people just can’t handle it. I haven’t looked into it deeply and I’m no scientist, but on the surface it kind of makes sense!
Good luck : )
Jimmy says
You are right – watch out for sauces! I was surprised to see most generic brand soy sauces have wheat in them. I mean, isn’t it just supposed to be soy? Realizing that was a big help, as my wife now brings her GF soy sauce (thai kitchen or san-j brand) when she goes out for sushi.
Tasha says
I would definitely recommend trying gluten-free for longer than 10 days, but it’s very possible that you will experience benefits in even that short amount of time. I do not have Celiac’s, but I overall feel much better when I don’t eat gluten (or refined sugar, or soy).
Rachel says
Katie Bower!! This is so cool! I work for a company that has a working relationship with Ana and I really hope that I get to meet her soon! Then maybe I can meet you! Ha, that does’t sound creepy at all 🙂
Christy Rowley says
Thank you so much for sharing! I already follow Sherry and John, they are such a great inspiration and they are so thorough! I was actually able to use only their site as reference for building my own deck! I hadn’t heard of Anna though, or so I thought. I clicked on her link and what do you know, I used her as a reference to build raised vegetable beds a couple of weeks ago! So now I have a second book to order in addition to YHL’s. 🙂
And this leads me to the question that I’m sure we all have on the brain – any book plans in your future. And sure, it could be a book of bacon related items. You are such a witty and real writer. I love your honest, keeping it real style. You. Crack. Me. Up. Plain and simple. Have you ever read Jenny McCarthy’s Belly Laughs? Your writing reminds me of hers. Hilarious and real.
Jenny says
My friend Katie and I have preordered Sherry’s book and can’t wait to meet her in Chicago. Now only if you would fly to Chicago too!
Shannon says
Katie Bower and Ana White. Well, that’s a match made in heaven! And how cool that you got to go to dinner with her! Was the baby doing backflips in your belly!?
When you came to Chattanooga, was it strange to be around a newborn again? Are you ready for that to be you with a newborn next?
Katie says
Well, it’s not strange because I see newborns when it comes to shoots….that’s like half of all my photoshoots usually…so I’m pretty used to the littleness. I was not used to the fact that she looks like me when I was that age…with the dark hair and the dark gray eyes (I guess all babies look like this)…mostly because Darby & I have no blood relation. It just took me back!

the YHL book is officially going to be my Secret Santa gift – YAY for pre-ordered goodness that takes away Christmas stress! 🙂 Also, it tickles my heart that you get excited to meet bloggers just like I do! I’m seeing the familia Petersik in Minneapolis next month and I’m SO EXCITEDDDDDD!!!!! I’m presently looking for a ceramic animal for them to sign 🙂
Good luck with the glutten challenge – I’ll eat enough bread for the both of us….and several other people.
Brenda says
I pre-ordered 2 copies of YHL’s book, one for me and one for my sister and brother-in-law’s Christmas present. Since they just closed on their first house this summer, I’m thinking it’s the perfect time to help them get started on making the house their own.
I hope the gluten experiment goes well! I sort of hope that you don’t get results so you won’t feel compelled to give up the carby goodness, but I do want you to feel better.
Johanna says
All the best with going gluten-free! Being gluten-free has made such a difference for me. If you’d like an awesome (non-crumbly, fairly simple) gluten-free bread recipe, I can send you one. You got to eat dinner with Ana White…..wowza!
Good luck with the gluten thing, make sure you report back to us 🙂

I was thrilled to receive a copy of Ana White’s book on Tuesday! She’s so inspiring. My project to-do list is rather long…
My husband and I have made a deal, based on plans in Ana White’s book: if he builds the big beautiful entertainment center and surrounding shelf units that is featured in the book, I will buy him a new 46-inch TV.
We’ll see what happens…
Laura says
So funny….the last site I visited before coming here was to order Ana White’s book!! I can’t wait for it to come! And yes, I pre-ordered YHL’s already. It’s going to be a great month!!

Well – I can still eat carbs…so no worries there…it’s just the ones with wheat and exposure to gluten I have to skip. We will see!

Olivia says
Katie – one little thought. I’m gluten free for the most part and I’ve found that gluten doesn’t bother me (affect my skin, tiredness, digestion, etc.) nearly as much while I’m pregnant. That being said, if you don’t feel an improvement from going gluten free while pregnant, it might be worth trying the experiment again once your pregnancy is complete.
Allison @ House of Hepworths says
I’ve been gluten free for several months now and feel like a new person. I would strongly recommend you read the book Wheat Belly. It will open your eyes to wheat and gluten and how horrible it is for you. I will never eat it again.
Ana White says
Katie, thank you so much for coming to see the book signing and then going out to dinner with us afterwards! I am so glad that our men got to meet too – Jacob really liked Jeremy. Awesome that you are trying the gluten free, I am shocked at the difference it has made in my life and hope it helps you too!
For everyone else, here’s the inside scoop on Katie:
Katie is one of those people that makes you laugh the very second you meet her. She is the funniest person I know and I love her take on life. I’ve met Katie one time before, and each time I see her, it’s like I’ve known her forever. Katie and Jeremy are loving parents, and their little one is so well behaved and happy, obviously well taken care of and cherished. And don’t let Katie fool you – she’s very very bright.
So great to spend some time with you Katie!
susan says
Well Mark and I are ( ahem) older than you guys-when you are 50ish, you too will have that I-can-do-anthing- mindset ( note-hubby is an IT geek so planning and detail is his forte; I am the artsy-fartsy one who knows I can do anything with the right background and a bag or two of Hershey’s kisses ) I still love YHL, though-you are all too cute.
Katie says
AAwww…I’m blushing. And we will have to arrange a man-date for our boys….maybe Jacob can teach him how to catch a dinosaur 🙂
And we still have our beach vacay to plan…Sherry is so in – we both have mad girl crushes on you! ha!

So, I have this friend who is married with two kids. Her husband and one of her daughters have Celiac disease, so in an effort to streamline their lives, their whole family went GF. I asked her recently if she noticed a difference in how SHE felt after doing this and she said, “Oh, my gosh, YES! I had so much more energy and just felt better overall!” I found that really interesting! My sister and cousin both have Celiac also (is it an epidemic?!?!), and I’ve pondered trying to go GF as an experiment, too. Yep, maybe right after I have another bowl of shrimp scampi and deep-fried cheesecurds. And homemade toll-house cookies….
I have no willpower.
CampDallas says
Ooooh, AND, I am obsessed with the kitchen transformation. We just bought a new (to us) house that is mildly (majorly) stuck in 1990. Who really builds a custom home and puts in those kitchen cabinets with the white laminate fronts ala-my-college apartment?! Dreaming of our upcoming (in 3-5 years…if I’m lucky….) kitchen renovation and what I can do in the meantime. I wish they were just wood…at least I could paint them! Did I mention the hexagon-shaped drop-in sinks in the bathrooms? Yeahhhhhhh. Anywhoo…..on the bright side, we doubled our sq. footage, have an awesome yard and live in a great neighborhood. Worth the wait for all those finishes that I love, I guess!

Ana White website doesn’t work. Maybe take out the www? Works without it for me.

Hi Katie, I am glad that gluten free diets are getting so much attention. My son was diagnosed with Celiac disease a few months ago and while we eat mostly nonprocessed foods it was a big challenge to make the transition. We all went gluten free in the family and my husband lost 10 lbs in two weeks. I however do not see or feel any differently.
One thing that I would like to mention to you and your readers is that there have been two recent studies that warned about rice. Apparently most rice, organic or not, has arsenic and its consumption should be limited. So please be careful. The news was frustrating for us at first, because I felt like there was nothing left to eat anymore, but now we have found lots of even healthier alternatives. For example, we just made a batch of the best chocolate chip cookies ever, and we got the recipe by searching for “grain free” desserts. Good luck with the experiment.
JoAnn says
Hi there!
Just a note to tell you that I have both those books on pre-order and I.Can’t.Wait until they get in my hot little hands – and yes, yes one more excuse to delay starting anything around here – I have to read my new books now!
Best wishes and all that stuff in the upcoming Bower production – I’m sure you are all looking forward to your new addition (your own production, just not in the paper format 😉

I’m excited to see how your gluten-free experiment turns out! I’ve been on a GF diet for several years due to mild Celiac’s, and it makes a world of difference in my energy levels and concentration. I would like to suggest, though, that you extend your experiment to at least 14 days, because it takes two weeks for the components of the food in your current diet to leave your body, and just as much time for a change to take effect. Best of luck to you!
Katie says
Thanks for the warning! I am googling up a storm and so far feel like it’s not making much difference…but it is an experiment and I am pregnant so we will have to see!

Jodi says
I am living a gluten free life and so you are aware, it can take up to 6 months to get gluten out of your system, but really 14 days you should start to see a difference if you do have gluten issues. You also have to watch EVERYTHING and keep gluten items seperate (seperate surfaces, storing, etc).
I am gluten free because of my son. He is/was ADD and had anxiety issues. I choose to try gluten free and didn’t know that I too was sensitive. In my case, I didn’t loose weight.. I have gained. Always being rail thin and unable to keep weight on, it was caused by my sensitivity to gluten.
Good luck!
Laurie says
Hi! Love your blog!!
My sister has been gluten free for 3 years and I’m going on month 2 I’m JUST now starting to feel a little better. I’d recommend giving it a longer shot then just the 10 days. It takes a while for it to get out of your system.
For my sister it cleared up her horrible headaches – she wasn’t able to get out of bed some days.
It’s not easy most days there are things hidden everywhere. I just realized my favorite chocolate has barley malt in it and now I can’t eat it 🙁

Because of your post I was able to meet Ana at the Seattle book signing last night and I remembered to pre-order my copy of Young House Love. Thanks!
