Right now I am craving a big change. It is probably me going stir crazy with this whole new homeschooling, Corona Virus, world falling apart thing…but maybe going crazy is the new normal. Hey Katie Bower is my name, social distancing is my game. And while I’m stuck at home, I want to make a big change in our house….for not a lot of money. So if there is a silver lining to this global virus mess – maybe it’s the motivation for me to paint the kitchen black!
So black might sound like a big dramatic change. And in most rooms, I think it would be rather over-the-top. But in our kitchen, it might add just enough drama. Right now there isn’t a lot of wall space so I think that adding little pop of black will be like adding a little eyeliner to the face of our space.
The current color is Benjamin Moore’s Metropolitan. It was BM’s 2019 Color of the Year….and I just happen to be ahead of the trend on that one. I painted way back in 2012 🙂 I’m not only ahead of the trends but I’m also immensely humble.
I think that by painting the kitchen black, it will also make the black countertops pop too!
The only problem was named Jeremy Bower. He wasn’t completely sold on the idea of painting a room black….even if the wall space was small. So I photoshopped some shots of the space to show him how good it would look.
Doesn’t it look so good?! I love how it makes the space a little more fresh feeling! And since there is so many windows and white cabinetry….it really doesn’t make the room dark.
So now is the issue of how I can get black paint before Corona gets to our county!
