Labor Day weekend was one that Bower Power filled with memories. As leaders for the youth group at our church, we got the chance to go camping and rafting in North Carolina.
Saturday morning we threw some gear in a bag and headed over to meet the ones who decided to join in the fun. It was a small group but we had a blast.
After grabbing some breakfast, we jumped in Big Whitey (that’s the church van) and drove through the winding roads till we reached the camp grounds of Tsali. Unfortunately, Tsali is ridiculously popular so we had to find a more private place to set up our stuff. The decision was made to put that off until we finished our rafting adventure.
That’s me in the front with the pink hat and my boyfriend is the third one back on the opposite side. Isn’t he cute?!?
I fell into the boat on the last rapid. Don’t worry – I didn’t let go of my T-grip (or my Mr. T grip as the kids called it).
We ended up at a nice little place that had plenty of room, nice bathrooms, and a volleyball court right next to our area.
And I am sure you can guess what splendid little dessert we ended up making on our campfire.
Overall, it was a great time…I had some good bonding time with the girls – who are amazing young women – and we got to enjoy the beauty of being outdoors. Plus anytime I can be thrown into a boat, splashed in the face, practically inhale half a gallon of water, and still have a smile…it means I loved it. every second.
