Our office before was just fine and dandy with it’s little sitting area. I think it was very quaint. Sure – it is themey with it’s nautical touches, its boat and lighthouse art, and even the ship’s wheel from a boat that sunk off the coast of China (it did, I swear!) But what I couldn’t help but think was – I wish I could warm up the space for winter.
Since my boyfriend spends about 8 hours a day in here (yup, he works from home!) I always try to make sure it is comfortable and pleasing. Basically I don’t want him to dread “going to work”…we need the money you know?!?
So when I saw these fantastic silk pillows on sale at Pier 1, I knew they would be perfect to sub in for the cheap-little-dollar-aisle-at-Target pillows that previously called my goodwill chairs home.
The colors include a cream, light blue, chocolate, and navy. They have one side of stripes and the other of these nubbly little knots that make for a very interesting switch. I preferred the stripes (what can I say, they look more nautical!) Plus I thought the chocolate would accent the ships wheel a bit more and the navy stripes bring out the navy tray that resides on the small side table.
So what do you think? I think I LURVE it. The overall effect was just what I was going for…warming up the space with the cream, bringing some drama to the chairs with the contrasting colors, unifying the space and creating a chill area to sit back and relax.
Points go to the pillows for being the perfect size and scale.
Bonus points go to my boyfriend for buying me these pillows when I was only supposed to look.
Extra bonus points go to Pier 1 for basically giving these pillows away ($6.50 each).
Dontcha wanna run out and get some now? Even if you used them as fillers for other pillow covers – $6.50 is less than what most stores charge for a filler pillow. Now that is a price I can chill about!
