Having five kids ages 8 and under, about ten DIY projects we are working on any given day, a couple businesses, two houses, and the blog….you would think we are probably going insane. You are right. We have a LOT of balls in the air and so communication and expectations are a big (umm…HUGE) thing for us. We constantly are trying to figure out better ways to communicate and stay on the same page. We also are always trying to figure out the best way to communicate with other people….our contractors, our parents, heck….even our mailman. And that is why I am here today….because I wanted to share something brand new with you that I was really happy with. It’s called Post-it Extreme Notes and it’s one of those little things that are a must-have.
Let me rewind for a minute. The fine folks who made the Post-it Extreme Notes contacted us and asked if we would review them and see what we thought. At first I was Debbie Doubter. Why do I need an extreme version of something I already use?! Why does anyone need this product? And how “extreme” can a Post-it Note really be? Like it’s not climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro or skydiving, right?!
Maybe not. But the point is….it could. The thing that makes these little notes super special is that they are made to stick in the harshest of conditions on a bazillion surfaces AND they are WATER RESISTANT. It might not seem mind blowing….but it kinda has changed the way I think of notes. And I’m sharing them with you today because there are just too many ways that they became useful and helpful to NOT share them.
So at first I just tested them out in the normal day-to-day sense. I popped them in lunch boxes and honestly – they were WAY better. Before, the notes would get wet from cold drinks and become sloppy messes by lunchtime and don’t get me started on the bleeding words.
And using the Post-it Extreme Notes make them stay exactly where they should so that my kiddo can feel the love.
Yes – I sprayed them even more so that you can see how resistant they really are!
Then I realized that I could use them in the shower to remind Jeremy of things. Now he remembers to pick up light bulbs or dog food or be at specific appointments.
The shower was also a place that I could put Will’s spelling words! He loved being able to review them after baseball practices and I loved not feeling like that was wasted time!
I’m sure our mailman also felt the Post-it Extreme Notes love.
He got his own reminder because DOORBELL+DOG BARKING=UNHAPPY BABY=UNHAPPY MOMMY=UNHAPPY LIFE
But then we started to do more at the Monroe House and I just snagged these up and used them pre-demo day. I was shocked at how well they stayed in place! They were there for the entire demo and asbestos abatement process!
And they are still in there….just in case our contractor forgets what we are keeping or what door goes where.
And even if you aren’t renovating a home from the 1900’s these come in handy around the house….I took one day to walk around doing a honey-do Post-it Note day and it was really good way to identify everything!
I just simply slapped a note on all the little things to do and where. It was really great because the little things that needed to be done all DID and I was more productive because I wasn’t needing to walk around with Jeremy to identify all the things. It was all clearly communicated and not blowing away in the wind!
I have a stack in my workshop so that I can make sure to have them up high and away from kids (to be frank, they just don’t deserve notes of this caliber!).
So that is one little thing that I wanted to let you know about that makes a big difference. The next time you place your pick up grocery order, make sure to add these to the list! Hope you have an EXTREME-ly good day y’all!
