omg! I love that light fixture! Can’t wait to see what you do with this 🙂 The nice thing about starting with something so ugly is that anything you do will make a HUGE impact!!

Oh Katie! Good job. I’m happy to see you guys getting up and at it on the house. It’s got to be so OVERWHELMING bc it’s such a big ole house! 🙂 But you are really lucky to have it. I wish I could totally come help ya out! I love your blog and get pretty pumped when you make a new post. I found ya on Young House Love and now you’re in my rotation of about 4 I check regularly. Keep up the good work, I can’t wait to see what you do with the place!
The tile looks less bloody now too with that new wall color! Looks great and I dig the red vanity!! Can’t wait to see the reveal!

Exciting, can’t wait to see more! Just wanted to say, I love your long posts full of jokes and juicy pictures — but posts like this are perfect in between. It must be overwhelming to live a life AND write about it so frequently, so it’s great that you seem to be spacing things out in a comfortable way 🙂

…can’t wait for the before and after!! From all the pics that I’ve seen of your downstairs bathroom…I just shake my head every time and wonder….
………what were the previous owners thinking?? …maybe they were color blind?
Oh, I love the red cabinets so far!! I want to do red cabinets in one of our bathrooms too, so I’m excited to see what yours turns out looking like!

Can’t wait to see it! I was wondering…when you had the inspiration photos up, I started to think about the library (the room across from the dining room) and I was flashing to Dana’s sunroom on House*Tweaking. I could just imagine 4 chairs facing each other in that space with lots of book shelves. Sort of a Barnes and Noble meets sunroom/solarium. Just a thought. Keep up the great work!

On behalf of the bathroom I’d like to give you a big ol’ round of applause!
It looks lovely! 🙂
The paint looks like a light blue gray color! Terrific against the flooring!
The red looks terrific!
So fun!

Until you posted about this bathroom yesterday, I had wiped all memory of the ‘murder’ bathroom out of my head. I think the images of the rest of your amazing house [esp the living room. drool] erased it from my mind. I am so glad you guys are able to tackle this right away. It will be wonderful when it’s done and more YOU.
did the previous owners just squish georgia red clay on the walls?! painting the walls alone would be improvement enough– but i L-O-V-E that light fixture and can’t wait to see what all else you’ve done in there!!
Emilysays
Maybe they could be strained gray….eventually. Looks great and everyone will be so impressed with the transformation that they will not notice the pink grout.

Looking good.
Can’t wait to hear more about it.
I’ve been wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets that color red.
We are waiting until the weather warms up to tackle that project.
You’re going to have to share the name of the NEW red! I saw a red end table in House Beautiful a few weeks ago–have been obsessing ever since–and your red looks like perfection! I <3 the sneak peek and can't wait for the full reveal!
I’m loving the changes so far! Especially since the atrocious walls are a blank slate! Yahoo for the lack of a Dexter-esque space!

Oooh exciting! I have those same light fixtures on either side of our fireplace. We love them, although they are a pain in the booty to change the bulb in. Can’t wait to see the vanity!!!
