Fall is a special time of year for my boyfriend and I…we got married on October 6th, our fall life revolves around the NFL and college schedules and the fact that people actually give away free candy just for dressing up really gets my heart afluttery. full-sized-snickers-are-they-mad?!??!
So it comes as no surprise that I am looking forward to experiencing all that autumn has to offer. In anticipation of the upcoming season, I decided to resurrect the goal list – but with a little tweaking. This goal list is not for a specific month. It contains no projects that would benefit me in the long run. No renovations. No diet restrictions or workout minimums. And especially nothing that would cause me stress for the next four weeks of life.
This hot tamale of a list is just for fun. That’s right. I said it. My goals are purely pleasurable. I must be wacko. I must be insane. Insane in the membrane. Insane in the brain! (name that band!)
I decided that this time, I would make a list that I actually looked forward to crossing stuff off…and wish that I could experience all over again. Eat that, all you life-improving totally-productive gurus with your organic peas and carrots. So here it is:
MY AWESOME AUTUMN GOAL LIST
1. Visit an apple orchard
2. Go on a hayride
3. Eat apple pie
4. Carve a pumpkin
5. Make something outta leaves
6. Eat pumpkin pie
7. Drink apple cider
8. Go on a nature hike
9. Collect acorns
10. Throw the football
11. Roast smores over a bonfire
12. Go camping
There it is. Simple minded I might be….but this little simpleton is gonna have one heck of a fun time trying to check through each one of my dozen goals. Is there anything I forgot? Anything I should add? Anything that I absolutely must do because it is so fallfilling (heehee!)? Do tell.
Oh…and just because I fell off the crazy tree today, let’s throw in there that I can NOT double up goals. One goal per day. I know. It’s just plumb crazy. wacko. insane. off the front porch rocker. But then…remember that I am the same girl that thought modeling in a straw hat, cowboy boots and mini-skirt would be a good idea. And that ended up looking like a two-bit advertisement for an off-brand beer. make that a light off-brand beer. yeehaw.

Katie- great goal list- maybe you should add… buy myself some pretty mums to celebrate the fall colors! Also, I saw the darn cutest pumpkin at a store the other day… it was a fake pumpkin covered (hodge podge I suppose) in fall leaves. I can’t wait to try it out! (ahh, or the martha stewart glitter pumpkins!!)

You are hilarious and that picture is rockin! 🙂 I love fall too and think your list is just fabulous. I can’t wait to read about each one!

we were married on october 6th too! (10-6-07) and i absolutely LOVE fall as well, the cooler weather, football games, and apple cider are definately some of my favorite things about the season. i think a couple things you should add to the list are: go to a football game, make homemade carmel corn, and get a dog 🙂

Great Fall goals! It’s my favorite time of year. Can’t wait!
Kim says
Great list. Jump in a pile of leaves, baby. JUMP! JUMP!
Kim says
Yikes… did I just call you baby? I take that back. Pretend it never happened.
alison says
cypress hill!!
Sarah from pewter+sage says
You need to insert “Drink Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks” for every other goal:) And you can pull off the cowgirl look…dang!!!
LauraC says
Great list! Fall is my absolute favorite season. Besides the nippy, cool temps, leaves changing, and the smell of wood stoves burning, I also look forward to pulling out my fall decorations!
stephanie hoffer says
Oh I adore fall….to bad California doesn’t believe in it. Nothing but summer, 365. But you totally forgot a major goal: deliver fall cookies to firemen, er..policemen, wearing a ridiculous cat mask and laughing yourself sick. That should always be a goal.
- Sarah :-) says
Umm… #1 – I believe that’s that old Cypress Hill song… am I right?! Do I get points???
and #2 – you need to add making home-made pumpkin pie to your list. I mean, you are going for wacky, aren’t you??
magpie19 says
Something great to do with the pumpkin seeds when you finish carving it is bake them for a great snack. Put them in the oven (with a little salt) 300 degrees for about 20 minutes and your finished :0)
Sarah says
You look like you’re ready for a rootin’ tootin’ good time in that straw and cowboy hat! 🙂 When you find an apple orchard down here in GA, let me know….I want to go to one too!

I think that’s a wonderful list! I need to make a similar one, since all none of my goals are fun…
Mmmm, pumpkin pie.

My husband and I got married on October 4th last year and fall is my absolute FAVORITE time of year. Reading your “goals” makes me so excited for the season to start!
I think you also have to visit a haunted house for sure. 🙂
Laura says
That’s a great idea – goals that are actually fun to accomplish. Especially since my only real goal right now is the grueling task of potty training my son! I have a few for the fall, you may borrow them if you like!
1. Go to six flags
2. Buy a new jacket
3. Buy an awesome pair of boots (not cowboy sorry)
4. Make an apple pie
5. Read a book
6. Make a wreath for my new front door
7. Watch Little Women
Jessica says
Love this! I make seasonal goal lists myself. One thing fun you might want to add:
Make homemade soup. Mmmm, it’s good on a cool cozy night.
Meg says
You HAVE to do a corn maze. We did one last summer that covered 9 acres. I started to panic when we entered because… what if I have to pee? What if we never make it out of here??? What if we’re stuck in here so long that I start to get hungry and I miss out on that awesome chicken corn chowder that they are selling? (Yeah, it’s always about the food.)
I have a couple pics here: http://shewasntpretty.blogspot.com/2008/10/corn-maze-or-american-gladiators.html
Good times. 🙂

There’s no bacon on your pleasure list. Are you feeling ok?? :o)
Laura says
how could i forget sam adams octoberfest!! Holla!
Laura says
Oh, Guess – I was thinking about Martha’s glitter pumpkins too! We’re going to try them with the fake pumpkins so we can re-use and for less mess.
Love the list – make sure to jump in the leaves! How about another one to add – eat a caramel apple!
Shannon says
I love your goals and if you don’t mind, am planning on stealing them and making them my own. Normally my # 11 would be amended to read 11. Drink entire bottle of wine around bonfire. However, I am also adding 13. Make baby. So smores it is!
Katie says
Katie,
To make your goal of drinking apple cider a
little more fun, I suggest you add some spiced
rum, pop it into the microwave and enjoy it on
a cool fall night. Enjoy!

I knew there was a reason I loved this site – and you guys by extension 🙂 My “boyfriend” and I got married on October 6th too and we are huge fans of September, it’s the best month ever and not only because it’s my birthday tee-hee
Kimberly says
Great list!! It has inspired me to make my own Fall Goal list! I’m way up here in Canada so we get to experience all that Fall has to offer :0) My husband (or shall I say boyfriend) will be thrilled that I’ve added a fun goal list in addition to our huge renovation to do list!
Love your blog!!
Mrs. McB says
I love this list-as I love fall. I also love your little modeling. 🙂

Oh baby baby – I can not wait to add some of your suggested favorite fall activities to my lineup. (How could I forget leaf pile jumping, carmel eating, corn mazing and haunted house touring in my list??!?!)
Wonderful autumn goals girls…just wonderful!

I love the idea of a fun list! I think I will make one too!! And fall is my absolute favorite time too! My husband and I got married on 10-26-02. I would definitely recommend adding a trip to a corn maze. We went to Washington Farms in Watkinsville GA last year and it was so much fun. Also, a day trip (or weekend trip) to go see the changing leaves in the mountains is always fun! Helen, GA is great but Gatlinburg, TN is the best! They decorate the whole town with pumpkins and scarecrows! I LOVE FALL!!!!
Focipresley says
KB- your left arm looks chopped off at the wrist. That’s creepy! I better put on some glasses and check that again.
allbowerpower says
Oh MY GOODNESS Focipresley – you are right!!! It looks totally void of a hand! I promise that it was there – I have an awful sense of balance and was trying not to fall while standing on one leg. So that hand was keeping me upright and not flashing the photographer. Next time I will have to paste a giant hand on the photo just so that people don’t think I lost something 🙂

Hi! I’m pretty new to your blog (which I love by the way) but I need a little clarification…”Fall is a special time of year for my boyfriend and I…we got married on October 6th”…if you’re married, why do you call your husband your boyfriend? I’m confused!?
allbowerpower says
Hi Rebecca – That is actually one of the most asked questions that I receive. You can get the lowdown on the boyfriend/husband label at this post:

Hope this clears the confusion!
