A New Gig – My Way Home

I mentioned that I need a new headshot for a new opportunity.  And then I shared my new haircut (which I still love for all you asking about the transition to short hair & bangs!)…

Have you ever heard of Wayfair?

Yeah.

I hadn’t either.

But maybe you have heard of CSN?  Well Wayfair is formally known as CSN Stores – lightbulb!  And if CSN doesn’t sound familiar, Wayfair has some other popular partners – like Joss & Main and Allmodern.com.  Now do you know what kind of awesome I’m talking about?

Well, color me surprised when I got the email from one of the fine folks at Wayfair telling me that they were gonna start a new blog called My Way Home (cute play on words, huh!?) to run side-by-side with their booming online store and wanted me to be a part of it.  You see Wayfair is a store that sells everything from rugs to pillows to toys to home workout equipment.  It is HUGE.  Like a mecca of shopping.  And you know I love to shop.  and talk about shopping.  and talk about my life.

And that is exactly what they wanted me to do…talk about our life….and handpick some things from their store that I wish I had.  Totally my speed.

Pretty cool gig, huh?!

Yeah…I’m still shocked I get to be involved.  Especially since the rest of the “homemakers” are way cooler than me.  The other peeps are designers and former magazine editors and tv personalities.  Don’t know who slipped the powers-in-charge the notion that I’d fit in but THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. (imagine me saying that with an Elvis voice).

I think they probably picked me cause they know I have the world’s most fantastic and best looking and clever and stylish readers.  It’s true.  I do.  Go ahead and take a bow.  Don’t forget the hand swirlies.  So I hope you join me over there every other week (click here to see what I’ve posted over there already!)…it’s gonna be content that I don’t share here and new photos too so it should be a fun time – and I really hope we can recreate that same feeling of community over there that we have here…because that makes me happier than a marsupial in a pocket factory.  yeah…I’m a nerd.

    So I am an avid reader of your blog, it’s like my daily coffee 🙂 anyways, I had to tell you that I had a dream about meeting you last night and you were just as spunky and awesome as I imagined you would be! You had Will with you and you were shopping for baby shoes (random, I know.) I hope it’s a sign of good things to come for your families future! Thanks again for the entertaining posts every day 🙂

    Even though the rest of the homemakers have TV spots and Magazines under their belts, it would be your writing and your ideas that would bring me (and many others) over.

  20. How funny. I had a dream she was hosting a workshop and then halfway through asked each of us to say a speech in front of the class.

    I walked up and started singing ‘There’s no business like show business’.

    No one clapped.

    I should ask for a refund on the class. All I learned was that I sing off-key and can’t do high kicks.

  38. I hope you don’t mind… but I actually submitted your blog as one of my favorites to Wayfair a few weeks ago. I’m not sure if that’s what pushed you along or if it was just coincidence. I love Wayfair, my sister worked there until she moved over to their sister site http://www.jossandmain.com. I hope that it brings you a lot of new opportunities and I hope that you don’t mind 🙂

  43. Congrats! So I read your first post on My Way Home, Jan 18th, and I didn’t realize Jeremy loves sweets so much. Must have missed that in your blog posts. I just had to laugh when you talked about you thinking you had extra icing only to find out it was empty. I can so relate! My husband does the same thing. I go to get ice cream out of the freezer and it’s empty! One time I thought I had a whole thing of cream cheese left but when I went to get it out for our alfredo sauce, it was empty! I love sweets as well so our daughter doesn’t have a chance either. And to make it worse, my husband gives her chocolate at 10 am!
    At least you are smart and try to use healthy ingredients while baking…I do not.

  49. How am I just now learning about Wayfair? Just mosied over there and they have some super-cute rugs/mirrors/home decor. Love it! And congrats on the new gig.

  56. I had never heard of Wayfair until reading about them in your blog. I was excited to see the inexpensive chairs & had picked out four, until I read the reviews of customers who dealt with Wayfair. Maybe one out of ten had a positive experience. The majority of the comments were customers telling about their horrible experiences with Wayfair. Have you ordered from them? Any thoughts?

  57. Really? Because I’ve heard mixed reviews but I kinda feel that way about a lot of places. I have mixed reviews about anywhere that I can get a deal! Maybe they are weeding out some poor customer service reps. Oh and remember that out of 10 people – if 9 are good experiences and 1 is bad – you might only see the complaint. Just nature of humans I think 🙂
