No…Power Day is not over.
This is just a brief interuption because I need a little brain dump.
First up….I have obsessed over patio furniture for the last, oh, forever.
So I did it. I ordered. More to come when more actually come.
Next – I hung some stuff on the living room wall.
Obviously I didn’t take the time or put in the effort to switch out the ugly photos, paint frames or do pretty much anything else.
I figured I’d show ya because….yeah, it’s coming down.
I got something big (literally and figuratively) that’s going up….something that makes my heart beat fast and gets my sexy-and-you-know-it vote.
Just keeping it real.
Tomorrow is the day.
Tomorrow we find out…for sure….whether it’s baby blue or pretty in pink. And when I say for sure…I mean, maybe…as long as we get the little one to give us a proper crotch shot.
My apologies to those googling “proper crotch shot” and getting this post instead.
Which leads me to a phone dump.
Some are super old….like this one from our very first appointment when we confirmed that Will indeed exists and it wasn’t just a weird case of the runs.
Did you know that when I was about 15 weeks pregnant with Will, I cut myself really bad with a rusty box cutter and I was certain that I would indeed either contract a flesh-eating bacteria or my baby would end up with a third head? It’s true.
Go Steelers!
This is Will at zero days old. He was so swollen. This kinda explains why the first thing I said to Jeremy after seeing Will was “I swear he’s yours!”
Tinkler the winkler…just a few weeks old.
Cousin Cole giving some love.
My sister’s car. Yikes.
A little reading time. I love that Will has both the paci and lovey and has his arm hooked under Coles.
Thanksgiving foursquare nighttime tournament with the family.
We were in the thrift store and Will put this helmet on before I could shriek – BUGS!
And yes…I find chunks of ice all over the house. Will has learned that he can open the freezer, pull out items at his leisure and leave me cubes wherever he pleases. At first I thought he was pulling some kinda Houdini act with the diaper….so I took great precautions cleaning up the mystery puddles. That’s until I saw the chunk that sank the Titanic on the living room chair and this drifter on the stairs.
dump complete 🙂 what a closing remark, huh?!
Carolyn says
You’re adorable. The end.

I think a boy….i always wanted to try this product when i was pregnant with my 3 kids, but never tried it…
although, the reviews are not that great…did you ever hear of anyone trying these? and getting the correct results?

WOW Katie, those weeks just flew by! Can’t believe you get to find out the sex already! I am so excited for you guys, I got my money on a little girl!
Also loving the photo dump! Bless Wills little cotton socks – Such a cutie even from day 1! 🙂
Lori @ Lighten Up! says
It’s the day!
Hmmm… Your mom & dad = boy, girl, girl. Brad = boy, girl. Norn = boy. Katie = boy, ___. I’d say that the little baby will be a girl, because isn’t this one of those “find the pattern” problems?
Except Jeremy’s parents = boy, boy. So that could throw my theory off, dang it.
Amiz says
Dude! I’m so stinkin excited to see what you’re having!! Is that weird? It might be but oh well. I’m diggin the brain dumpage(totally just made that a word)!! Wish I had a place to do that too haha
Annie says
I don’t actually know when you posted this in regards to my time here in the UK – but! It’s 7.06am on Thursday 24/05 here in England and I find out the sex (fingers crossed, legs uncrossed) of our baby tomorrow, I will be 19+5… We already have names picked!
Congratulations again and good luck for your scan…
🙂
Kirpi says
I love the keeping it real photos, totally looks like our living room. 🙂
I really don’t wan’t to scare you or anything but do you know that craving ice can be a sign of iron deficiency? Maybe worth mentioning at the next doctor visit.
Kirpi says
Of course it can be a sign of really hot weather, too. 🙂 Since you live 4500 miles from here, I suppose you may have better weather that we do…
April says
Are you already at about 20 weeks?! Wow, time flies. At least from this perspective. 😉 Can you believe you’re halfway through already? Or has this been draaaaaaging out for you?
Stephanie says
Wow! How exciting!! I can’t believe you will be able to find out already. Time flies. How many weeks are you?
Carla says
Good luck!! Can’t wait for you to let us know too 🙂
Katie says
We didn’t know that before but some folks let us in on it…so we’ve been giving him iron drops just in case…he seems fine – I think it is more a toy than anything to him.

Katie says
haha…yeah – and my dad’s mom was boy, boy, boy, boy 🙂
Nornie – she had the same brain wave as you!
xo – kb
Katie says
I’m actually 16+3 (measuring actually one week ahead – so sizewise, 7+3) but our doctor looked the last time we were in there and he thought he knew…he said he wouldn’t put money on it but he said that next time we would know 🙂

That Will is just too precious! Good luck with the littlest Bower today. I hope he/she cooperates! But I have to say my very favorite part of this entire post was this sentence…”My apologies to those googling “proper crotch shot” and getting this post instead.”. Haha. Thanks for the morning laugh!
Anna says
So jealous! I’m due November 2nd and I don’t get to find out what I’m having until NEXT Wednesday 🙁

I like the living room wall.. well, the concept anyway with the trays over the photos. 🙂
Meg says
You have such a beautiful house, family, and life! I’m so envious!!! Btw, just in case you have the time (haha!) I would love if you would do more posts on your wardrobe wish list.
Pamela @ Pink Hammers & Sippy Cups says
Oooh that’s soooo exciting that you’ll be finding out the gender soon! We found out we’re having a boy just a few short weeks ago (I already have a daughter) and I cried at the ultrasound haha! Do you have any suspicions what it may be?? Or tried out the chinese calender/old wives tails? Surprisingly they did all tell me I was having a boy as well!
Lori says
We find out tomorrow (5/25) whether we’re having a boy or girl with pregnancy #3. Exciting stuff! Enjoy seeing your little one!!!
Lynn says
oh man, I am so jealous!! I’ve been online window-shopping outdoor furniture for weeks now!!! But we’re in the process of a back yard overhaul, so I’m not going to actually purchase anything until it’s all complete… but *sigh* I just can’t stop dreaming about it!! I can’t wait to see what you got!!!!
Amanda says
I am so jealous! My anatomy scan is next Thursday and that’s when we found out what our little one is. It’s killing me seeing as I’ll be 20 weeks on Monday! Can’t wait to find out (for you and me hehe!!)
lisa says

Carli says
Great post. Hilarious. Love the keepin’ it real stuff. Cuz we’re all there. That’s for sure 🙂
Good luck on your scan. Fingers crossed the lil baby cooperates! All the best!
Cristina says
Can’t wait to find out! I remember how anxious I was with both of them. The days just DRAG to hear. Do you have names picked out for both and are you going to share? Post another belly pic! : ) < —– This is a demanding blogger trying to act nice after being demanding!
Cheryl says
So exciting that you’re finding out the gender! Don’t keep us hanging too long :). Our little girl is being added to our family of parents + 5 year old boy in 7ish weeks…and we are so excited! (Not that it means we have a room ready for her yet or anything…whoops!)
Mary says
Not necessarily! I am an NP in an ultrasound unit and at 14 weeks our sonographers said they thought they knew and they were right – girl! Good luck tomorrow!
Kristen says
Can’t wait to find out if you’re going to be blessed with a boy or girl! How exciting!!
I’m jealous that you’re getting new outdoor furniture! I’d really like to get something new for our patio but since we don’t use it much I can’t justify the cost. Might have to think of a way to modify what we’ve got!
cappy says
Have you felt any little kicks yet? Can’t wait to hear your news! Oh and I too thank you for “keeping it real”! It is amazing how fast my little toddler tornado can rip through a room!
Merri Jo says
I love your phone dump–as always, your narrative provided several giggles. I have SO much fun seeing/reading Will’s escapades, — I have a grandson, who turned 2 Feb 11th. I have 2 sons, and my DILs are both pregnant with boys. Sooo, thankfully, I think boys are immensely entertaining, fun-loving, and delightfully fascinating !! Robert Burns said, “The mother of two sons is ever-blest.” I agree whole-heartedly!
liz @ bon temps beignet says
I’m hoping it’s a girl just so we can see what yoy would do with the nursery 🙂 Plus I have a boy and I like to live vicariously through other people.
Can’t wait to hear the good news either way 😀
Amanda says
I can’t wait to see whats going on the wall!!!!!!
I love how real you are, and how your house is still gorgeous and put-together looking with toys all over the floor!!!
Shelley @ Green Eggs and Hamlet says
I love the dump – sometimes you just have to take one (sorry, couldn’t resist). Also, super excited to find out whether Baby Bower #2 is male or female. However, I had to comment and ask you preeeeeeeeeetty please to tell me which outdoor furniture set you ordered. I’ve been scouting for weeks and can’t make up my mind.
Anne says
Can’t wait to read the news!
Ashley says
I am so jealous you get to find out the gender so soon! I’m 16w today and my ultrasound isn’t until June 14th 🙁 Trying to decide if it would be worth spending the money at a 3d ultrasound place to find out sooner.
Deb says
I had heard once or twice that it was easier to spot a girl in the earlier stages because their “lady bits” were easier to identify at this early stage and that it was easier to spot boys later on due to their “parts” becoming more *ahem* noticeable. No idea if its true, but I don’t think I’d be 100% certain that its a boy based on the doc’s comment just yet. BUT both my babies were surprises – we didn’t want to know so I didn’t really pay attention to that during my ultrasounds, therefore take anything I say with a grain of salt – ha!:)
Hannah says
Gah! I giggled aloud at many of your quips. Will really was swollen eh! Still an absolute cutie.
Cannot wait to find out if Baby Bower is a boy or girl. Will you post tomorrow?
Kimberly says
Congratulations Bowers! I can’t wait to see what you will do with another baby room 🙂
On Tuesday we found out that our little one had stopped developing at 8+6, just days before the ultrasound. Now, we are waiting for my body to miscarry (and after trying for so long too, boo) and then back to square one with a little more emotional trauma than before. I read your posts before your amazingly fantabulous news and it gave me hope and got me to April when we found out we were expecting…and it gives me hope now going back to it and reading the multitude of comments with stories that let me know I’m not alone and it’s no time to give up! Thanks for sharing such a personal side to your life.
Sara Davis says
Is it terribly odd/freakish/crazy/giddy that I can’t wait to find out what you are having? Eeeeeek, so EXCITED!
Lauren says
I had a friend that just used this- the test told her boy and she went for the gender sonogram yesterday which said girl! So, while it is fun to “find out” early, it isn’t very reliable!
Jen says
They told me at 13 weeks they were pretty sure it was a girl and they were right. 🙂
Kat says
tomorrow! already! wow!! you must be so excited!
goldensarah says
will be thinking of you tomorrow! either way, what a blessing!
Katie says
oh Kimberly I am so sorry to hear that news. I can’t imagine how tough that is…and how grief will linger…I will be praying for you girl.

Katie says

Hi Katie!
I am reader from up in Ontario, Canada. I have been following your blog for about a year now and just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy following your beautiful family and seeing all the changes you are making to your home! I LOVE your office reno and would love to do one just like it! Keep up the awesome work- I think you are hilarious!
Cait says
Can’t wait to find out!! Are you guys planning to go to NSH for delivery? We had such an awesome experience there that I always tell my H I can’t wait for labor #2!
Chrissie says
What are you having already? A boy or girl! The suspense is killing me. I’ve been checking all day to see if you’ve posted it. (Not that you owe it to us readers or anything). I just adore you & your fam so I’m excited to know. I have two boys…so I’m sorta pulling for a boy. However, God has His plan for your fam & it is a perfect plan. :). I’ll just keep on checking.
Donelle says
I cant work out the time difference as I am in Australia, But I keep checking in – I am so excited to find out – Pink or Blue!!! 🙂
Maz says
I just wanted to stop by and say good luck for the scan today!! Is it weird that I am super excited for you guys?! Hope not.. I am thinking it will be a girl but a guy would be super for Will. Loving the photo dump! xx
Maz says
I will be praying too.. and I will light a candle at church this sunday for you and your family..
My favourite motto is: “There is still hope, there always is.” maybe it will bring you some comfort like it does to me. xx
Sara says
I dont know if its like this everywhere (Im Canadian) but here, Doctors/Ultrasound Techs cannot tell you 100% if its a boy or girl- They can tell you they “think” it is one or the other… but nothing set it stone, that way if you blow your savings on everything blue… and it comes out pink… You cant be mad! hahaha
I dunno why youd wanna know though, its really the only surprise you get in life!!!
Sara says
YES! My fav part of her blog! Hate when you look at other blogs aned its like looking at a magazine! I also love that you showed us something you ended up not liking, it goes to show how decorating really is never ending!!!
Sara says
YAY! Ontario Canada!!!!
Angela says
I’m excited to see what you do with that wall. I dig your visions.
Also, how exciting about tomorrow (actually, I guess it’s today)!

I’ve been stalking your blog! When do you plan to reveal the gender? 🙂
Annie says
Well, baby was in breech position and had it’s legs crossed. So no finding out for us. Hope you had better luck x
Jenn says
I’ve come back here like 53773 times today! Updaaaaaaaate. The suspense is killing me!
Crystal G says
It was just as surprising to me to find out at 20 weeks as it was at 40 weeks. Different strokes for different folks. On your blog, you can wait to find out! 😉
Annabelle says
Are you OK? Or more to the point, is the baby OK? Sending you good thoughts, and don’t forget you have a huge audience out here who can help you deal with whatever news it is you got yesterday.
stephie says
hope you’re okay, katie. coming back every few seconds to hear about your scan. hope all is well, and a million hugs to you. xoxoxo
Melanie says
I used it for my daughter and it was correct in predicting.
Bri says
Hey Katie! Just checking in to make sure that everything’s okay. We’re anxiously waiting and praying that everything went well! xoxo
Jenn says
She’s still approving comments so that’s a good sign right?
Were all getting worries Katie! Hope all is well.
Nancy says
Please, I’m begging you, let us know if it’s a boy or girl. It’s been five days. We can’t possibly be expected to go on with our normal lives until we can celebrate with you. The suspense is killing me. Please?? Pretty please?? With sugar on top? I have two boys and a baby girl, and I think that is a great sequence! Either one is an amazing adventure.
Demi says
I’ve checked your blog like 20 times over the last three days.. Hope you’re well.
Kimberly says
Thank you both, very very much. All we can do for one another is pray in times like these 🙂
