This is a sponsored post brought to you by Abercrombie Kids. All opinions are 100% my own.
It’s back to school time and my kids could not be more excited! They love, love, love their schools and teachers and all their classmates. I am super happy this year because all three of my little ones are getting teachers that we have had in the past and we know they are just simply the best. Also – this means that a few days a week my house will have a chance to be vacuumed! Hip hip hooray for not stepping on goldfish!
I am also super happy because we are partnering with Abercrombie Kids to share with you some of the cutest new clothes for back to school! Guys! This is personally a full-circle moment for me because I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch in college and always swore that I would get my kids their clothing there when they were old enough. I just love their style! Well…I didn’t have to wait until high school because now they have Abercrombie Kids for all the coolest little kid clothes. Whaaa?! I know!!! (Also, they’re having a 40% off sale right now, so get excited!)
Of course, the cutest clothing on the planet warrants one thing….A PHOTOSHOOT. A back to school photoshoot to be exact. So here are some photos sharing what my family picked and I’ll walk you through why these clothes are worth every dime. You can shop the post at the very end.
First of all – these clothes are what I call little teen style. They are all American and laid back and perfect for that casual sporty vibe. Um…if that doesn’t have Bower boy all over it, I don’t know what does!
Max is going into his first year at preschool and he is still getting the hang of this potty training thing….so we are really happy that the jeans have a snap (vs. a button which can be a speed bump in bathroom visits!). He already told us that his teacher was “bootiful” and that he was gonna be the king of the playground. No doubt kid. No doubt.
LJ is basically the same size as Max and we were super excited to hear that Abercrombie Kids goes down to a 3-4 (!!!). There is a growth chart in the Abercrombie Kids stores that tells you exactly what size your kiddo is in their clothing. I found that to be really helpful.
And of course, my kiddos got to pick out their favorite outfits and I knew that LJ would be instantly drawn to anything red. This little jacket has LJ written all over it. He is also my slimmest kiddo and I found that the jeans do have the adjustable waist so he can keep these ones up.
He found this little red jacket – it’s part of the Everybody Collection – and it is SO him. The Everybody Collection is literally exactly what it sounds like….it’s for everybody! The pieces are created for both boys and girls and have some of the cutest sporty style. You can bet your bottom dollar that we are saving this entire outfit for Ella 🙂 She is gonna have the best hand-me-downs ever!
As much as the Everybody Collection is such a great idea and their button downs are always on point….I really wanted to talk about the denim because that is where I think the brand really does it PERFECT. Their jeans have so much personality and are a great weight. Not too thin, not too thick, enough distressing and just perfection on the colors.
Max insisted that he wear this outfit and told us that he wanted to cuff his pants just like LJ (they share a room and everything LJ does, Max follows!).
LJ picked out this t-shirt and ALL the boys wanted one. It is one of those sequin t-shirts that changes color. The tiger goes from orange to black and white and they could not stop talking about it. I have a feeling that I will be ordering one in every size 🙂
My personal favorite outfit was Westons. I love him in blues and greens and he got super energetic when we said we would be doing photos of him in his new clothing.
And when I say energetic…I mean, I had trouble keeping up!
Hands down the best find were these jeans. I couldn’t wait to tell you about them. They are their sweatpant jeans and you would never know that they are ridiculously comfortable. They look like a distressed jean but feel like a sweatpant material without the bulk. They aren’t sweatpant LINED….they are actually soft like a sweatpant. Hello, I will take two in my size please! They are perfect for Weston because he has sensitive skin and textures bother him sometimes. He is the kid that feels an itchy thread and will scratch himself raw. But these? He literally would not take these off.
And he could do all the things that he likes to do because they are flexible and comfortable.
They definitely have more of a skinny cut leg…so they would work with cuffing or we liked them paired with little hightops. Look at this outfit! Jeremy also wants this outfit 🙂
And now let’s chat about my William. He is my serious kid who probably is my most thoughtful. He loves clothing shopping and so for him, it’s all about versatility. He said he wanted these dark jeans because he thought the color was great to hide dirt (so true Will so true.) and he also said he wanted layers because it is hot on the playground and cold in the classroom….so he started with a t-shirt and then got a couple things to go over it.
He picked out this button down (it’s a thinner fleece which we love around here because it means less ironing!)….
I love that he can wear it over the t-shirt unbuttoned for a casual look or he can button it up and wear with a belt and boots to church.
Also – I love the fact that my kids feel cool and comfortable in these clothes. That’s what I want for them….I want them to feel confident and brave and invincible when they go to school. Beyond the price tag, I want them to have options that are well made and not boasting only about their video-gaming-skills (have you noticed that trend with a lot of boy clothing retailers? That the t-shirts are all about video games and boys being lazy? I hate that! It is one of the reasons that I like Abercrombie Kids – their shirts aren’t self-deprecating!).
Even better, right now until 9/4 there’s 40% off throughout the entire store. And the bonus is that your kids will actually wear these clothing items again. and again. and again.
Also the fact that these clothes are gonna be passed down to lots of little brothers makes me so happy! I can’t wait to see Max in that same button down! I definitely invest in clothing for boys because of quality, and the options are fewer and the cute stuff is worth it with photos.
Will also picked out this hoodie….which the instant that he put it on, I could tell he felt so relaxed. Often times he is my anxious kiddo…so relaxing for him helps him focus. Focus at school = good thing.
And his jeans were also a favorite….they have a bit of stretch and have a straight leg AND an adjustable waist (yep even in the 7/8 the waist is still adjustable!). He will be wearing these all year long!
I took about ten million photos and it started sprinkling right before we saw this rainbow! I let the boys dictate this photoshoot and they had the craziest ideas (this one is all about them doing tooting noises because that is something you shouldn’t do in class! ha!). If you do attempt a back to school photo session with your kiddos, let them have fun and direct the shoot!
And I’ll give you four guesses who thought that this was a fun idea 🙂
All that to say – we are officially ready for school and I am treasuring these photos! I can’t even imagine the day that Ella goes in! I am considering just starting her wardrobe for that moment now 🙂 So tell me….do you guys do a back-to-school photoshoot? Is it one of those with the desk and apples and poster board saying their favorite things? Also who here loves back-to-school clothing shopping? I feel like I could do that all the time….just planning their cute little wardrobes so that they can have endless options and always look insta-worthy!

That picture of them on the picnic table should be in the Abercrombie magazine! So adorable. Like a miniature, model-esque Breakfast Club 🙂

Adorable kids. So cute. I can’t believe Max is almost as tall as LJ.

Aww, you got some fun shots of your boys! That candid rainbow/toot one is so great. Here’s a question (with no snark behind it)- Do you pay your boys for “modeling” for the blog/social media? I’ve been geeking out on personal finance blogs lately, and I’ve learned that you can open a Roth IRA for your kids (only if they’ve earned income that year). A lot of finance bloggers would encourage you to pay your kids for their images and put that amount in their Roth IRA. Then they can let it grow well into adulthood (many years of compound interest) or pull out what you’ve contributed for college/house down payment. (They can access whatever amount has been contributed- just not the interest- penalty-free.

Pretty sure this has been around since 1998….this isn’t a NEW store.

Omg the rainbow picture is the best!!

So the way we do it is that yes – the boys get paid via an amount that gets directly deposited in their account for any paid promotional post that they are featured in. We also pay them a small amount (usually it’s about $5-$20 depending on the job) in person so that they understand that when we work, we get rewarded. From that small amount they have to decide to spend/save/give and thankfully right now they are young so they can do ALL of those things because most of the times their toy of choice is a $1 matchbox car or a $1 pack of candy from Dollar Tree.

I just love seeing your children. They have such a strong resemblance to each other, yet they each stand out in their own unique way.
Thank you for brightening my day.

My 9 year old daughter was literally just talking about wanting to shop at Abercrombie last night! So this came at the perfect time haha.

I thought you said in another post that your kids all look like Jeremy (maybe I’m remembering wrong), but Weston, totally looks like you!

That is so great you guys are doing this. It is really teaching them money lessons they will never forget. Btw, that picture of LJ is my favorite ever!

My favorite pic is the last one with the bus! I think that is one that could be in their ad.

Sounds like you have a great system in place. Definitely look into a Roth IRA if that’s not the account you have set up. It’s great, because you get taxed on the front end (and your kids’ income taxes would be a super low rate now compared to when they are adults) instead of when you withdraw, like most accounts.
Speaking of systems, please post about how you function efficiently with your big family of small kids… I feel like I spend so much time feeding my two kids and cleaning up the kitchen. You posted a video (on periscope?) once that had great tips- would love to revisit that on the blog!

This post is fabulous! I was such an Abercrombie fan back in the day. I think I need the Tiger T-shirt for my little guy. Thanks for sharing! The boys did great. And, I’m not going to lie, I spotted Will holding FLOAT, and I got pretty excited! I’m glad the books made it, and I hope the boys enjoy them!

What big, handsome boys your babies have grown into!! I can’t believe Max is so big now.
