This week I’ve had the hardest time. I mean….it may sound like the stupidest thing ever and I know I am feeling it so deeply because of all the hormones….but yeah….I’ve had a crazy stupid hard time with one thing. I lost a memory card. Not just any memory card….a full one. A full memory card that has ALL of Ella’s birth photos, all the newborn photos I took, all the projects I’ve done in the last month and the pictures of the kids from all summer. I can’t even handle it.
I was so dumb. I didn’t back it up. I have hardly any transferred photos. The birth photos being the most important obviously…and the newborn ones. I did copy five of Ella’s birth for my maternity photo book. But yeah…I bawled. So what happened? I was taking pictures of the kids Halloween costumes outside and the camera said the card was full….well, it just so happened that I had a blank card in my pocket so I switched them out right then and there. The full card went into my pocket and we hurriedly rushed the kids into the car to head to a friends neighborhood for trick-or-treating. I didn’t realize the card wasn’t in my pocket until the next morning. I have searched EVERYWHERE. It just was such a huge disappointment.
That being said…I am so brain dead right now. The newborn zombie fog is definitely strong in the Bower house. And as someone who isn’t the most organized human on the planet (that’s an understatement by the way), losing stuff happens. a lot. BUT this time, the lost item is simply irreplaceable. Soooo….that being said, here are some photos that I took this past week and I am valuing them so much more.
At the beginning of the summer, Will lost his second front tooth….giving him the most adorable gap…and now one of the teeth has grown back in and the other side is still missing. It makes him look so uniquely cute, I can’t stand it!
The look I get when I try to make him smile and it is simply not funny 🙂
Speaking of teeth….he asks a lot of questions about braces lately. Apparently lots of kids at school talk about them…so he feels like he needs to know all the ins and outs. The other day, I whipped out my old retainer to show him….which of course does not fit….so now I find myself googling adult braces 🙂
We are officially growing out LJ’s hair! When LJ asked for a “Weston” hair cut, we hesitated but eventually we let him decide…..and now we are ALL ready for his red locks to come back!
And the cutest part is that he is excited too. He said he wants his long orange hair back! 🙂
And I have a feeling like Ella is gonna copy his coloring. They both have the lightest eyebrows and a lot of LJ’s newborn pictures look really similar in skin, hair and eyes!
The thing I wanted to tell you about Max is that holy-moley the kid can talk. I think it always surprises me when the kids learn to talk because I simply assume that they would be less verbal and more physical….so when they talk a lot…like Max is doing…it literally takes my breath away!
He is already able to say all his ABC’s and can count to 20 (although sometimes he does miss 13 and 15 but he tries!). Also, when I ask him his name, he says Max….and if I ask him his middle name, he says ROBOT KNIGHT! (it’s actually just Knight but he likes a very specific episode of Blaze and the Monster Machines that has robot knights in it!)
Also Maxi Knight is thankfully so smitten with Ella. It makes my heart so happy to see him give her kisses and tell her secrets 🙂
Lastly there is my Weston. My sweet 4 year old who celebrates a big birthday in the coming week! Weston just finished his first season of fall baseball and LOVED it. He made some new friends (that is really difficult because he never remembers their names!) and is showing us that as physical and as tough as he is….he is one of the most sensitive too!
In the past few weeks, I’ve seen how tenderhearted he really is and it surprised me! I knew he was sensitive toward animals and babies….but recently he showed a big ole teddy bear heart toward a couple friends too and it made me realize how much I am still learning as his mom! I don’t know it all….go figure 🙂
My big boy turns five soon and we are doing a bowling party! I need to make him a shirt….suggestions welcome 🙂
And lastly my sweet baby girl! I am officially shopping for girl things and it is so fun. I really am into holiday clothing (obvs.) and I can’t get over all the cute stuff!!!
Is there any girl brands I should know about? Maybe like Insta accounts that have cute stuff? Girl moms – please share!
Also this picture is one of my favorites because of Max – aka The Statue of Liberty & Mums.
This smile….I can’t believe I caught it. It’s like a unicorn….you know it exists….you just don’t see it very often 🙂
Okay…so this week we are doing a lot of fun stuff….I have a lot of fall projects that I will be recreating and can getting out to you soon! And I need to get the kids back in their costumes so that I can share how cute they were!!! Happy hump day y’all!

I totally feel your pain….our camera broke after our second child was born. All pictures from the hospital lost. Thankfully, family members had a couple of pictures from their visits. With our third child, we had 2 cameras!

Bowling party sounds fun! When we were little my mom would take us to JoAnn Fabrics to pick out iron-on designs so we could make our own shirts. Years later, the fun of ironing on designs is still more memorable than the actual parties!

Take your car apart! If you put the card in a pocket; when you sat down it may have slid out of the pocket. Move your seats, adjust the seat backs forward and back. Look under your floor mats; look beside your seat. Check next to your center console.
I feel for you! Precious pictures are so hard to lose!

That must be heart breaking, I’m so sorry as my stomach even dropped as I read this. My hopes are that someone finds it, looks on the card and rallies to find its rightful owner when they see what’s on it. Sending luck your way and hugs in the meantime! Take care of yourself (easier said than done I know).
Reenie says
Oh goodness…. praying you and/or someone finds the card and returns it to you.
Y’all make beautiful… beautiful babies. Love all their different personalities shining through in the pics.

I am so sorry for you losing your photos. While on a trip to Italy, we lost our camera! The whole thing! Certainly a bummer… Now, when I have a card in the new camera, I take a picture of my phone number and name just in case someone looks at the photos – and is a good samaritan! 🙂

I’m so sorry about the lost memory card! It’s so hard to lose something irreplaceable. Maybe it will magically appear when you least expect it? I say it because it happened to me! Quick story, lost the back of an earring recently given to me by my mom and was devastated. It wasn’t just a back to an earring, the back was the kind that screwed onto the earring and had a little diamond on it. Anyway, I wore it to a wedding with my hair down and carried my sleeping girl around towards the end of the night and she was laying on my shoulder. When I went to take the earrings off I noticed that I had lost it! I searched in my hair, on my clothes around the floor where I had taken off my dress, nothing. Figured it was a lost cause anyway since it was so small. The following week when I was vacuuming a completely different part of the house, I saw something shiny and I figure it was some type of glitter and didn’t hesitate to vacuum it up. The second I did that, I remembered my earring! So I emptied out the canister and looked thru dirt and dog hair (yuck!!) and found the back of it without the diamond part. Not one to give up easily, I keep digging thru the dirt and dog hair and actually found the tiny little diamond that was missing!! It took me like 45 minutes to find it but I did! I hope that you can find your memory card, maybe it will appear where you least expect it, when you least expect it! Have faith! 🙂

I’m sorry you lost your storage card. I just got teary eyed for you. I lost all my weekly maternity photos (ftm here). It is horrible to lose such sentimental photos. I know you looked everywhere, but you dont have a hidden hole in your pocket do you? There is nothing to say to make it better, but maybe ask all your family and friends for any photos they may have? Xoxo
Jennifer says
So sorry to hear that about the lost photos. Have you thought of putting up signs, kind of like “lost cat” signs except for your memory card? Or do you use NextDoor?

I’m not Catholic, but I pray to St. Anthony (the patron saint of lost things) every time I lose something. He’s basically the saint I have on speed dial. He’s helped me find more things, so maybe give this little prayer a try:
“Dear Saint Anthony, please come ’round! Something’s lost and must be found.”
I once found an earring after it was lost for more than a year! It was on our carport, which I park on daily, and I found it underneath some melting snow. I don’t know how it got there, because surely I would have seen it there over the course of a year, but there it was. That’s the magic of Saint Anthony.

My small thing lost story….My engagement ring, wedding ring and anniversary ring from 1989…all together…lost..from February of 2010 to November of 2016. Yes, 6 years. I had 4 injuries in 2 months in 2010 and was on serious pain killers for a long time. One of my injuries was on my left hand, so the rings had to come off. In my pain killer fog, I put them in a “safe place”. Several months later after my hand was healed, I was ready to wear my rings, and couldn’t find them…so we got a simple band to “hold the spot”, and then another one a few years later, thinking that they were forever gone. Every few months I would tear the house apart to no avail Then..last November, I was getting ready to make a card for shower gift and wanted to find some pens I hadn’t used in a long time. I dug through a drawer to find that stash of markers, dug through the plastic tray..and found the rings. What a safe place that was! I was in shock for like 10 minutes then stuck those rings on my hand and ran to my husband. So happy.

I lost a flash drive 2 months ago when I was out of town. It was in my pocket, and then… it wasn’t. While it wasn’t full of birth photographs, I was still completely devastated to lose all that stuff! I made a few calls to the places we went and nothing. 🙁 I hope you are able to find your card for your camera- it has to be somewhere, right?! Maybe it will turn up!

You have the most adorable family ever!(it doesn’t hurt that their parents are both gorgeous). I was wondering what you use to curl your hair? My daughter has long thick hair and I was thinking of buying her a curling iron/device for Christmas. Thanks Katie!

I use a wand and a straightener! I’ll post about it soon!

A place that always surprises me, but it shouldn’t because I love everything in the shop, is The Cracker Barrel! Their kids clothes and shoes are so darling and a little different than what you see in every other store. We travel a lot with an RV and so we frequent the CB (RV friendly). Have fun! @theunpredictableblueberry
