You guys were so sweet about our master bedroom reveal and I can not thank you enough! I was so excited about this room….because it is truly our safe space….our little slice of heaven….the calm in the storm. And I love being in here…yes, because it is the quietest room in the house….and the most comfortable with that bed and the big comfy chairs….but also because it feels finished and ready for our soon-to-arrive little one.
That being said – let’s talk for a second about that mirror above the bed…
I mentioned that when I first got it, it was a bright red. It sure stopped me in my tracks at the local Goodwill so the red was good for one thing 🙂 Butttttttttt……it didn’t really go with our decor.
I gave it a really fun and textural paint treatment and I shared it on Instastories. So many people messaged me asking for the info that I decided to share it here too…..
I mean….just check out that beautiful texture!!! It’s amazing considering…it’s just paint! That’s it! All the exclamation marks!
So here is the video I put together for you to see how I did it. I also go into how to change the color of chalk paint with a wash….which personally I think is interesting….but then again, I live for DIY info 🙂

The mirror looks gorgeous! Thank you for explaining how you got the texture, it looks like real wood. The color is spot on for your room too.
About the video: it is much easier for watching when the whole of the film is made horizontal.

I think you knocked this one out of the ballpark! Absolutely love the mirror. Also, love the video; too the point, upbeat, easy to understand and just lovely.

Misspellings drive me insane. It should be “to” the point. Sorry. : (

Yup. It’s one of my pet peeves too but originally I wasn’t planning on sharing this on the blog so I had filmed it upright for Instastories….hate that but oh well.

What video editor do you use?

Excellent job Katie! Your room looks very similar to mine, color-wise. Of course I used those colors throughout my entire house – it is my sanctuary after being at work for 11 hours. My thrift stores never have mirrors like that but yard sale season is approaching here in the Boston area. I have to say, I never heard your voice before and my guess is you are not originally from Georgia?

I did that treatment on my kitchen walls years ago. I used a wisk broom. I got tons of compliments on it! it was easy & fun and made a big statement. That mirror looks totally different, great flip!!
