Strawberry Picking 2017

One of my absolute favorite yearly traditions we do with the boys is STRAWBERRY PICKING!  AHHH!  Almost as exciting as a room reveal!  Like definitely in the same universe 🙂  And the taste of these local juicy nuggets is seriously unbelievable.  You have to eat them all in one (maybe two) days because they will turn to mush in the container if you let them….but it’s the worth the stained fingers and shirts and faces because that fresh strawberry taste is like heaven.  You are tasting heaven.  Licking the pearly gates.

This year the boys weren’t my best pickers.  Last year Weston loved doing this.  But it probably was my fault…I put them in pants and it was terribly hot.

Oh to have this back in my life.

We met my sister who is of course a rockstar and picked majority of her buckets with a baby on her chest 🙂

This was Max’s first experience and I gotta tell you….he doesn’t understand what ‘don’t dump out the strawberries’ means just yet.

The kids overall did as well as can be expected in that kinda heat.  Oh and I’m sorry if you were one of the patrons that day that got a strawberry thrown at your car….I’ll have them wash it for you if you want 🙂

Case in point….this is typical cousin behavior.  Weston is gonna be the same grade as Clay and same with Isla and LJ so we have our hands full 🙂

Oh my lordy that smile and head tilt and the shoulder shrug and little balled up fingers….this is THE SWEETEST.  I take it back about the strawberries….my Weston is the juiciest nugget ever!!!!

  

And if you are a new mom who wants to attempt strawberry picking….boots are a must.  And bring your own buckets because most places charge you for them.  We bought ours a few years back and it’s by some miracle that we still have them but hey saving money!  look at me!

And yes, as hard as it is to wrangle kids and a camera and buckets loaded with berries – just do it.  It’s so worth it.  The pictures always make the memory so much better!  And have those strawberry recipes ready.  Pie!  Shortcake! Fruit salad!

p.s.  completely random side note – I posted about a big sale going on and I thought I would give you a heads up!  It’s one of my favorite non-maternity stores and I’m SOOOOO jealous that there are so many great pieces that are an additional 40% off and I can’t fit in any of them.  I’m thinking maybe I should just stock up and hope for next year.  Is that weird?  Here is the link.
