I realized this morning that my stomach is a little too poochy for my pants.
And I purchase poochy pants on purpose. (say that five times fast!)
So I frantically went online to see if I could find a couple good deals on some maternity pants that would accomodate the poochy pouch that is expanding by the minute. Enter Old Navy.
Linen-blend ruffle Wrap Dress – $20
Braided Strap Jersey Dress – $14.50
Lightweight Cowl-neck Sweater – $19.50
Yellow plaid ruffle sleeve top – $10
Full-panel Denim shorts – $10
Gauzy Striped Scarf – $5
Low-Rise Boot-Cut Jeans – $25
Perfect Khaki Bootcut Pants in Whistler Blue – $28.50
Low-rise Dark Rinse Bootcut Jeans – $25
TOTAL PLUS TAX – $165.53
But I got free shipping and an additional 15% off because I made the purchases totaling over $75.
Which brings my total down to $141.88 (big poochy belly shake here!)
This is a lot of money in my book to spend on myself…but since I want like a bazillion kids…these clothes will be an investment for many months to come. Now let’s bow our heads and pray that they all fit!

Congrats on the little one!! Ok, so I’ve never been pregnant, and don’t plan on becoming so in the near future, but I work at an office where there must be something in the water because every other month it seems like someone is becoming pregnant. One thing that they’ve all fell in love with is something called the Belly Band or the Belly Belt – it’s basically a super elastic band that fits around your ever growing baby and will hold up your pre-pregnancy clothes so you can wear them longer. Not sure where to buy them, but I’m sure a quick Google search is all it takes. Maybe something to look into if you don’t want to spend mega bucks on maternity clothes. :o)

I love, love, love the purple dress!

Hi Katie! I’m not sure if the ruffle brown dress is a maternity-modified one or not, but I bought that exact same dress (not maternity-modified) and, just a heads up, it’s a bit revealing! If the wind kicks up, that front panel flies right open, and the cut at the top is a bit low (and my chest is rather modest, so pregnancy boobs might really stand out). Anyway, I thought it’d let you know that you could be sure to plan your outfit to perhaps include a cami under the top and a slip for the bottom or something.
Great picks though! You’ll look lovely!

WOOOHOOO!!
seriously all my fav bloggers…you, Sherry, G&D…babyfever is increasing at an alarmingly high rate…hahaha!!
side note the outfits are all adorable of course!! : )
Katie says
You’ll be so cute!
Kirsten says
Such cute stuff! My youngest is 12, and when I was pregnant (back in the day!), they didn’t have the cute, affordable stuff like they do now. I think they have maternity clothes at Ann Taylor Loft (maybe just online) too. You’ll look adorable!
kristen says
I am so excited that you and Sherry are both pg! How exciting to share the experience with a friend (and many blog readers!)
melisa says
OH MAN TODAY IS SO EXCITING…..You and SHERRY are preggers. What a great day! I need a baby!
Karla D. says
First of all, congratulations to you and your hubby! I pop over to your blog from time to time but saw a comment about you on YHL. How cool is it that you and Sherry will be preggers together?
You are the third person I learned this morning that is pregnant. I was wondering if someone put something in the water or he H1N1 vaccines. lol.
Lynnie says
I have been off the blog radar for the last couple of weeks so this is my first visit in a while and I know I’m a bit late to the baby news party but OHMYGOSH, HUGE CONGRATULATIONS YOU GUYS!!!
Thrilled silly for y’all 😀
Hannah, it’s exactly the same here in Ireland, seems there is a worldwide baby boom!
Jen says
I LIVED in Old Navy maternity pants. I preferred the under belly kind in my first and second trimesters, but felt more comfortable in the full panel over the belly kind for the last trimester. A little dorky looking, but so much more comfortable.
Karla D. says
I got cut off from my message. Great finds and great deals! Between Old Navy and Target, there are a lot of reasonably priced items that can be used again and again, without breaking the bank.
I’ve been noticing a lot of dresses and tops I’ve been buying will actually be suitable for the early months of pregnancy which will be a good money savings as we plan to try in the spring.
Lyndsey says
Old Navy is the best for maternity clothes. And Target 🙂
Danielle says
I noticed this when I went to Old Navy last weekend! Super cool! Btw, you and Sherry are having a baby at the same time! How crazy!
allbowerpower says
What? Danielle, are you serious? Sherry is pregnant?!
holy crap 🙂
p.s. just kidding. I totally already knew 🙂 And I am thrilled TO DEATH that we are knocked up at the same time!
Beth says
Ok, I’m just going to leave this comment and then leave it alone – why is your blog one of the most user unfriendly out there? Is it wordpress? All other blogs I read are blogspot or just-a-name-dot-com and they’re so easy. I find yours very difficult to navigate thru, and therefore, don’t. I visit maybe once every 6 months. That’s just my opinion, take it or leave it. If all blogs were so hard to follow, I’d have no trouble staying off the computer! Please take no offense, it’s just a random person’s random opinion.
Beth says
I just bought a bunch of stuff at an Old Navy store that had some maternity stuff. I like it. It’s cheap and pretty cute as far as maternity goes. And my sweet mom just ordered me more stuff online from there too. Can’t wait to get the box of goodies!
allbowerpower says
Sorry Beth – I wish that I could do something to help you…but I really know nothing about building a user-friendly blog. Maybe one of these days a programmer will come to my rescue…but for now, I will have to suffer with you.
XO – Katie

Hey Katie – I have been an long term reader, sent over from YHL. I wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy and also to let you know about a company I used when I was pregnant. It’s called http://www.emommie.com and they sell gently used maternity clothes. It helped me save a lot of money. Just wanted to share!!!
Erin says
Katie–have you heard of oldnavyweekly.com? It’s a promotional website where there are hidden coupons for old navy that are renewed each Thursday. There are some really good ones ($75 off $100) but those go quick. Still, I can always manage to get a 20%. Just thought you might like to know for future maternity purchases. And those are so cute!
Christi says
check out f21 too for some sweaters that are under $20!
Mandy says
Hi Beth – maybe checking out Google Reader will help? Lets me read through all my favs much faster and is super easy to navigate in my opinion, hope my unsolicited advice helps! : )
Krista says
I have the purple dress and I LOVE it, so comfy. I cinch it with a belt and it’s really cute!
Melissa says
I recommend the Motherhood Maternity Secret Belly Fit Pants. They might be a tad big now but trust me when I say you’ll live in these pants come the late 2nd trimester on. they are SO comfy you feel like you have sweatpants on but don’t. They sell jeans and pants. Best $30 I could have ever spent.

Astakay says
I second the Belly Band (or any of its similarly-named equivalents). I finally picked up a couple during my last trimester, and they’ve saved me! When you first start wearing maternity shirts, they feel so huge, but at some point you may very well OUTGROW THEM! (yep, it’s a little horrifying) The belly band is great for layering under your otherwise-too-short shirts and also for holding up slightly-too-big pants.
Ashley M. says
Cute wardrobe!!!
Beth says
Hey Katie,
Just a note — I had trouble with Old Navy when I went to return a maternity top I bought online — they required a receipt, which I didn’t have because I figured they’d give me a store credit. They do do that for in store purchases but not of online ones…
Sherry @ Young House Love says
Wahoo! I totally have those dark low-rise jeans. Best $20 I ever spent (you know I had a coupon, right?). Now we can be twins except you’ll be tall and glamorous and I’ll be short and swarthy.
Ana says
All I wore was Old Navy and Gap both times I was pregnant. Good quality and good value. Don’t spend an arm and a leg on maternity clothes, it’s totally not worth it! I believe that H&M also has an affordable maternity line as well.
faith Kewfi says
Having been pregnant three times since 2004 — I have been around the maternity clothes block. THe first time I was like — please I am not spending a lot of money –I will only be in these clothes a short time. Your attitude changes by the third. so I can say with confidence — splurge on something you feel great in — whether it be a certain dress or a pair of jeans or a pair of black pants — but something that when you are feeling “preggo” in every sense of the word — you can still feel good about yourself in. Congrats!
Alexa says
Those are some pretty cute clothes. 🙂
Okay, so I don’t know you or Sherry personally, but damn am I excited for both of you and your future babies AND the adorable play dates that will surely follow. 🙂
P.S. Are you on Twitter?
Natalie says
Those are so cute! I love how maternity clothes these days don’t even look like maternity clothes. Great finds! 🙂
Michele with 1 "L" says
What cute clothes! Almost makes me want to get preggo again! JUST KIDDING! Gap has a great maternity line also. I so love that it is possible to stay both fashionable and comfortable when pregnant.
Erin says
Try looking for maternity clothes on eBay. I had to buy lots of new stuff so I could have dressy clothes for work. I LOVED Gap’s maternity pants – they fit the best! I could find brand new ones much, much cheaper on eBay. Find out some high end maternity lines and start searching away 😉
Laura Kronen says
Hey – you need to check out Belly Ups if you want to keep your pants up when pregnant. The web address is http://www.bellyups.com Trust me, they are a lifesaver!
