Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
Are you wearing green? Are you getting lots of pinches or are you the prowler who doles them out to the folks who aren’t in the green swing of things? I tend to completely forget the days (they all run together when you have kiddos) and somehow I always wear green either two days too early or three days late. But I bleed green. I pee green. I have green saliva and when I blow my nose, small children think it’s green jello. You’re welcome for that visual by the way.
The point is….I love me some green. Also I have Scotch-Irish blood thanks to my dad. So it’s only natural that today I talk about the green that I really love…the hue that I just can.not.quit. in my home.
I did a short survey of some old photos and these are just some of the green spaces that I have had/have currently and they are all boasting a very lucky color…the old sitting room (now it is my office) had my green sitting chairs (long story short…these were destroyed thrift store finds and I recovered them myself. least favorite job ever.)
That same room got a makeover and a fancy new title “MY OFFICE” (did it sparkle when you read that?!) and now it has a little green bookcase (also another thrift store find…from college no less…and I gave it a couple coats in green and it is perfect in this color)….
The foyer and the living room still boast a minty green color on the walls (don’t love it) but I have learned to work with it till we can repaint everything. The turquoise and the emerald green really help things, dontcha think?!
Of course you have seen recently the green that we introduced into the boys playroom. It’s on the rug, the map, the pillow….the countless number of primary-colored toys 🙂
Weston’s nursery also had green. Sniff sniff. I remember this. I guess I will have to tweak it for LJ because he will get this space when we finally kick him out of our room.
I painted our garage door green and YES, I am still obsessed with it.
In our old house, I loved green too…like the old kitchen with it’s green runner….
And our living room had a green and navy and white theme going on. Many a good movie were watched in here.
And I can’t forget my green accent wall that I had painted on the top of the stairs.
So I thought it would be fun to link up and share all your green spaces too! I would love to see them and celebrate the luckiest holiday of the year with you. Go ahead and click that “LINK UP” button below and link to your own blog with the St Patty’s day crafts, green hued spaces, or your favorite emerald outfits 🙂 MWAH!

I’m guilty of the green as well. When I moved into my old house, the previous owners had painted their daughter’s nursery with an apple color above the chair rail. So I painted the kitchen a lighter version of that color. Then I painted the front door green (see linkup). So far in my new house I have painted the bedroom a pale green. I almost duplicated the green door but I am forcing myself to choose a different color. I’m still using some of the green accessories from my old kitchen though.

Man, I was hoping the “Irish Princess” tiara was a sex reveal for baby #4! 🙂

Everything about this post was great until I read the last line and the thing Irish people reallllllyyyyyyy hate. St Patty’s day. Can’t stand it. Trust me. I am 100% Irish! Happy St Paddy’s day!

Thanks, Katie! Super fun idea! Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you too! My kids are Irish on both sides, with Celtic names like Maura and Ian:) And I love me some green when decorating!

I was wondering what you were going to do about the room situation. I have 5 kiddos the only one who has his own room is my oldest and the only boy. Then there are two rooms with two girls in each. In the big girls room we have two IKEA loft beds with desks underneath, in the little girls room we have a bunk bed. visually I like the bunk setup better but for the bigger girls the lofts mean less sharing space and more privacy. I can’t wait to see what you do for your boys. Oh and funny green story when I married my husband everything he had for his house was green. Every time he was faced with a decorating choice he would pick green. It’s become kind of a running joke around here. I’ll ask which paint he likes and without even looking he’ll say “the green one!”.

I’ve been so curious about this too!!! If you have a boy 2 and 2 seems easy enough but if you have a girl… Will your beautiful new guest room/bathroom become a kids room?

I’ve recently fallen in love with Emerald Green. I just bought some green fabric (actually navy and green!) to make some new cushion covers. Time to get some more green in my house.

We haven’t really made any decisions about the rooming thing…we don’t think sharing (no matter the sex) is weird so we shall see what happens!

Yip, I’m with you Shauna. I’m 100% Irish too and agree that we all hate the St Patty’s Day thing. Patty is short for Patricia, Paddy is short for Patrick.
Love all the green Katie, it’s my favourite colour too!
Hope you all had a great St Patrick’s Day!

I thought the exact same thing. I scrolled like crazy down the page, saw a bunch of house pictures, realized I was weird, scrolled back up, then started reading.

DANGIT! I thought this was an announcement for baby #4 being a girl!! Oh well, still love the green 🙂
Brandy says
I did, too!

Please tell me where you got that green kitchen runner in your last house? That’s exactly what we need, I’ve been searching forever!
Katie says
It’s from Shades of Light. It’s called the trellis rug I believe 🙂

I am in the green camp too. The whole house is painted green on the inside and so is the kitchen island and the front door. It is a great neutral and part of nature. I don’t know how to link up or I might. That green rug in the play room looks great, all the photos do actually. I like the light green that you are working with on the walls, in the photos it looks nice. Hope you are well.
