Well, that will make a whole lot of sense after I explain to you that we are giving our guest bedroom a makeover! I am so excited about it. Literally there is nothing I love more than making this house feel like OURS. Goodbye beige trim! See ya later random wall art! We are already halfway done painting and even though the furniture is staying, we are switching up the wall color, art, and accessories to finish off the never-been-fully-manhandled space.
One of the biggest things that we are excited about is putting in a brand new mattress. We already decided that it would be the perfect time to invest in a good mattress (the old one is from Jeremy’s bachelor days….it was old when he met me and it was the one that we used as newlyweds – so it’s well beyond it’s recommended expiration date). So when we heard about the mattress that comes in a box – well, my first thought was “Oh I guess the pivot joke doesn’t work with this one” and “wait a second…how does a mattress fit in a box?!”
The Sleep Innovations Memory Foam Mattress does in fact fit in a box. And no more bending the mattress to try to fit up the stairs…Jeremy hauled this one up all by himself…with one finger (not really with one finger but I thought that might boost his self-esteem). When it’s time to unpack it, it takes less than two minutes and a pair of scissors….that’s it!
Since our guest room is currently looking like this….
and we still needed a guest room for guests this weekend, we set up a temporary space in Weston’s room…

I remember nearly peeing my pants watching that episode when it aired years ago! My college roommates knew that Thursday nights, the TV was mine and Friends was on – no compromising that! Off to You Tube to find a clip… PIVOT!
Would love a review from your guests this weekend! My m-i-l has a memory foam in her guest room, but its’ not 12 inch. I think it’s an 8 inch, and doesn’t sleep very well.

We actually got this same mattress for even cheaper than Amazon has it on Overstock.com over a year ago and have loved everything about it. We opted for the “soft” because after reading reviews we learned that it’s not actually all that soft. I was afraid we would sink into the bed quicksand style but it has really been perfect. We’ve gotten the best sleep of our lives on this thing.
A tip, the foam, while it’s comfortable, can get hot! After reading a ton of reviews and recommendations we opted to spring for the ISO-Cool cover. We got it on Amazon for a reasonable price and it has made this bed even better than it was.
Oh..and about Friends. Netflix just announced that all 10 seasons will be available for streaming! =)
Is it light? It looks really light in the video where you remove the plastic from underneath. Just curious 🙂
It’s not super light…you can see that even before we moved it that it was harder for me to PIVOT it 🙂 I think it would be comparable to any other mattress…a person of my strength could lift it to make it up with sheets but I would have a harder time moving it all by myself.

In my experience it was actually heavier before it expanded than after. Moving it when it was still in the box…it was heavy! But moving it around now after it’s expanded isn’t terrible. But it’s not “light” by any means. But I think still a bit less heavy than a normal mattress.
Sorry about that! I heard that quite a few times now and I upped the font darkness and boldness weight so it should be a little bit easier. Hope this helps and let me know if it’s still hard to read!

Wondering if there was any odor to the mattress. We got some memory foam pillows (that were not inexpensive at all) but the odor of the memory foam was so strong we couldn’t use them for months. I had to sit and let them air out all that time.
Love that episode of friends, we always say PIVOT when moving things. Ha Ha Ha.
Ha ha no one in my family gets that joke. Whenever we are carrying something I will start yelling “Pivot!” in my best Ross voice they just look at me weird and start to pivot.
How tall are you? For some reason you look incredibly tall in this video. Maybe it’s just the angle of the camera and height of the bed or something. ?
Also, what size mattress is it? Queen or Double? Again, maybe it’s something about the camera angle but I’m guessing it’s a double.
I am 5’7″ and the mattress is a queen 🙂

I have had a sleep innovations mattress (bought on Amazon!) for the last year and a half and my husband and I regularly comment on how it was the best thing we’ve ever bought for our house. My parents have a tempurpedic and we both think ours is 100% comparable to theirs. Plus, the price! So inexpensive compared to a tempurpedic! We’re going to put another of these mattresses in our guest room as well!
