Remember when we had our master bedroom painted? Technically speaking it was two spaces….the master bedroom and the master sitting area that opens up to the bedroom. These two rooms are conjoined…completely different entities but sharing a wall (or lack thereof) and the only way to get to the sitting room is through the bedroom. That same week that it was painted, we ordered new lights for the space. It was one thing that it was easy to pull the trigger on.
Before the sitting room had this gold three armed guy who was way too short and one arm was bent. It never lit up enough of the space and was definitely not my style.
In the bedroom we had a fan that didn’t work. It worked for about six months when we moved in but then it died a tragic death. It involved an alligator and a bucket of fried chicken. Just checking to see if you were still reading 🙂
The hallway to our closets has this little guy which I still love. I found it at a thrift store and gave it a makeover and it was proudly featured in the book by Young House Love. This one was definitely going to stay put.
And the new light fixture in the bedroom needed to add a little contrast and a whole lot of light. So when I saw this beautiful metal five light chandelier, it was a done deal. In the box, Jeremy was unsure but I knew that as soon as it was up, he would love it.
And you can see how it plays nicely with the other black light in the little closet nook after it was all painted and hung. The black details tie them together and yet they still can stand on their own.
In the sitting room, I splurged. I guess I am used to spending between $15 – $120 on a fixture and my brain loved this fixture since the moment I saw it. I told Jeremy that this was our special space – where it’s kid free and we get a ton of relaxing movie dates in and work done so I wanted it to be extra special and so I was gonna splurge a bit. His reply…..IT’s ABOUT TIME.
We bought this beaded chandelier and I LOVE everything about it. There is a more affordable option at World Market but I liked this one so much better. The beaded detail on the circular frame and the spaces between the strands of beads won me over. And since it has five bulbs, it still works really well at lighting up the space.
We decided to hang it much lower than the previous fixture and it perfectly shows off that fun ceiling shape.
And just as a sneak peek….this is what the space looked like up until last week when we got a new console for under the artwork.
It’s my favorite room in the whole house. Literally I could sit in there all day. Mostly because my rear end is super comfy in those chairs. But also because I feel relaxed and at home in a space that reflects my style. So that is my update for today. For sources on any of the other pieces – here are the links….
