Long ago I told you about my love for our Oreck vacuum cleaner. I love that dang thing. Like every night I whisper “well done good and faithful servant” to it’s sleek blue bag. So it’s not a surprise to anyone that when Oreck offered us their new Elevate vacuum to try out in our home, I was already a little biased. I mean…if it’s anything like it’s older blue eyed sister then it was already a winner.
Litte did I know that it is a true winner.
Popular across the board with the masses.
And something that everyone can agree on.
So first let me tell you the things that are new and improved. First – the carry handle is bigger and easier to grip and perfect for looping the cord around when not in use. Another thing that is bigger is the bags. The capacity for the bags before seemed big enough to me (and I have bought some pretty shed-heavy rugs in the past couple years!) but this puppy holds up to 4x the amount compared to that of typical bagless vacuums. I’m not complaining 🙂 Plus The SaniSeal® system automatically closes upon disposal to help lock-in dirt & debris.
The controls have also changed. The buttons are all on the handle and are called finger-tip controls. It makes it really easy to switch between hardwoods and carpeting and you can definitely tell a difference in power between the settings. Speaking of power….WHOA. This beauty really knows how to get it all in. Both Jeremy and I were so impressed that fuzz and cracker crumbs were not even in front of the vacuum but getting sucked up.
But my favorite feature is the lightweight size. At half the weight of other vacuums in its class*, the ELEVATE CONQUER™ delivers a complete clean without the strain of lifting traditional heavy uprights. It’s easy enough to carry up and down stairs and it is so easy that my six year old can carry it.
When we first got it in the mail, I was excited to give it a whirl but honestly…I had just vacuumed and it didn’t seem like a fair test. I mean…a clean floor is not normal for us…and I like to push things to it’s limit. Just ask Jeremy 🙂
As far as vacuuming carpet – this is where we really saw it’s power. It can suck up the wool rugs like nobody’s business. And the SUPERIOR Filtration technology provides 5 layers of HEPA Media filtration to trap at least 99.97% of the tiniest of particles at 0.3 microns, including allergens, mold spores, pollen, dander, dust & smoke. Yep, that’s gold medal worthy.
And switching to hardwoods with the new controls is easy…even with a Maxi Knight in tow.
But like I said. Not really a fair test.
Now this…..
this is a test….
Not necessarily what I thought would be the test but worse things have happened.
So it all began when I got a light fixture in the mail and it had this box of styrofoam protecting it. The light was removed, the box was set aside and normal life resumed. Looking back, things were eerily quiet for a solid four minutes and then Will came running in to tell me “Mom….we made snow!” and he was covered with little white bits. I asked “How messy is it?” and his reply….
“Completely destroyed”
Sounds about right.
Max thought it was the best thing EVER.
And by the time I grabbed my camera, they had started snow-ball fights and slip-n-slide races.
Normally I would have been covering my face and hoping to not experience a panic attack but they were having SO much fun…so I went with it….knowing that it would be a good test run for the Oreck Elevate.
This one is a framer 🙂
So after they got a good fill of complete and utter destruction….I asked who wanted to help clean up and I raised my hand….
They were in charge of gathering up the bigger chunks and trucking them over to the box….
And I got to put this baby to work.
Honestly…it was awesome. Even styrofoam…the lightest and most annoyingly clingy of materials had no chance against it’s power. And the Oreck handheld canister vacuum was perfect for getting all the strays that were basically EVERYWHERE.
And yes….with a kiddo in my arms, I could still easily carry and vacuum…which is a absolute necessity for me these days. And the long extending wand? priceless.
So if you are in the market for a new vacuum….because let’s face it…messes are part of life and vacuums are a must-have….then I highly recommend these babies. They are perfect for growing families….and let’s face it…if it can hold up to my four natural cyclones then it can pretty much clean anything!

This vacuum looks amazing! I feel like mine just pushes dirt around. Wish it were in my price range. Love the pictures of your kids in this post!

Love it! But what I really love is your hair in the first outfit! I am not talented with braiding hair so if you have any tips, greatly appreciated!

haha I know this post is supposed to be about a vacuum but between you being on the Olympic stand and sucking up your boys hair….it’s just so funny!

Katie, I love your Oreck test and I’m glad they furnished you with a vacuum – the new ones look so fancy…. Our Oreck is the fussiest machine we’ve ever owned. I’m actually taking mine to the repair shop today. 🙁

I have the blue vacuum and I love it. I actually won it in a giveaway on another blog a couple of years ago. You get all of this free stuff all the time but you almost never do giveaways. Why don’t you do that for your readers? Why don’t you ask the company that is sending you a free product if you could do a giveaway for you readers? I’m not saying you have to do a giveaway for every single free product but every once in a while would be nice. I could be on my own in this though. Who knows?!

You are so patient. You made a styrofoam snowball fight into a great day!
How many years have you had your old Oreck?

Katie – you have a real talent for making super entertaining sponsored posts. This could have been a boring post about a vacuum, but it literally made me laugh out loud. Loved the shot of you vacuuming LJ’s hair!

We got it in September of 2012…so four years strong 🙂

We always ask to do giveaways but it is up to the brand. We also do giveaways more on Instagram now. It is still great on the blog at times but we got better feedback on IG so we switched to do it more there. We do still some on posts – we like to keep ya on your toes 🙂

Ok this isn’t about my vacuum but it is about your jeans!! I’ve been noticing that you have been wearing some super cute and flattering jeans and shoes lately! Where are you finding all these?! You are one hot momma! 🙂

Oh so not fair:) I love my Oreck but it is old. I am going to look into the price, but will probably have to stick with my old on. (insert sad face).
Oh, I should try smiling when I vacuum, might make it more fun.

I agree…I’ve noticed that too, now you have TWO vacuum cleaners, if the old one is still good, isn’t it a shame to just keep this one in a basement and not use it?
Molly says
What’s the maintenance like on this guy? My Dyson is supposed to have the filters washed out every 3 months which I NEVER remember to do… it’s like changing the furnace filter and refilling the salt in the water softener… how do people remember these things? I literally forgot to eat dinner last night in the midst of feeding my kiddos before church so vacuum filters aren’t even on my radar!

This has a bag….when it gets filled, you simply take it out and replace it. You can always take it into Oreck stores and they can service it.

We use it. We have a large house and usually we are all cleaning at the same time so this is helpful.

Really guys? She’s done two on instagram in the last 3 weeks or so. I think that’s plenty generous considering she doesn’t owe us anything.

This brought back good? bad? memories for me. We were moving out of state and my three kids were 4 and under. The moving truck was gone, the house was clean, and the only thing left to do was take a 45 gallon trash bag of packing peanuts to the recycling center on our way out of town. I did the final walk through and with nothing else to play with, found they had discovered “the bag”. They were in a back bedroom having a great time! It looked like your house! I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. I tried picking them up by hand but with static electricity it was impossible. So I had to borrow a friend’s vacuum and after a two hour delay we went down the road.
