Disclaim this puppy with “THESE ARE MY PREDICTIONS. DOESN’T MEAN JACK.”
Okay…so that disclaimer is out of the way, I wanted to talk future when it comes to interior trends. This is my prediction post….I am not a designer….every style is different….don’t get your heart broken if nothing in your house is on this list…that doesn’t mean anything….also, almost nothing on this list is in my house 🙂 These are things I see going all the way in 2015…possibly 2016…maybe my mind will change after I have this baby…I am pretty hormonal right now.
TEXTURE! You must shout that out loud because I think it is huge this year. I won’t even buy a pillow without feeling it and textural elements are super important in 2015. Speaking of texture, braids, twists, fringe, eyelets, and lace are gonna soon replace the pom poms and tassels of 2014. I am predicting that. When it comes to prints, animal prints (think leopard, dalmation, even zebra) are becoming more mainstream and I think they will go from designer status to full blown trending status this year. Other huge prints this year will be large florals paired with stripes (trust me…this needs to be in every home), buffalo check (or it’s baby sister….aka gingham) and plaids. I think all of these will be coming out in fresh color schemes and feel really NEW in homes. Watch for it on HGTV 🙂
When it comes to colors, I really think jewel tones are gonna be big….especially if you mix them together for a real punch in the mouth of color. On the other side of the card, I also see people literally falling all over themselves to use coral, mint and gold in their homes. It is a really feminine but not too prissy color scheme that I think gals will use in their homes. To balance out all that femme mental (is that a thing?! it is now.) I think that the industrial vibe is still gonna be going strong and with that comes live edge wood, zinc and a steel gray that feels newer than the muted basic or warm gray of 2014. Seriously…zinc is gonna be the new butcher block. Also….wood floors everywhere are gonna see makeovers. I love me a dark chocolate wood floor but I see a huge push toward ashy woods and lighter floors….not yellow based but everything light and bright. Keep your eyes also peeled for boho influence (even the preppies will use it in a very Serena + Lilly kinda way) and dark cabinetry is coming back but with lighter counters to keep things bright.
Okay….so that is my prediction list for the newer trends of this year. Hopefully I can take my own predictions and use them in my own home! That would be cool…ya know…to be trendy and all 🙂

I have been obsessed with mint green forever- I painted my bedroom the color of mint ice cream in 6th grade. I am so glad to know I am ahead of the trend for once! Mint, coral and gold sounds like an amazing combo!

I am not at all a trendy person, especially in my home, but I want to work on that a little bit. I never ask these kinds of questions, but where did you find that picture of the texturized pillows up at the top? I’m in love with the one in the foreground. Maybe I might try to make my own!

Love your predictions! I am making over my master bedroom right now in navy, coral, mint, and gold. Love the color como! My hubby is painting our walls navy as I type this. Fingers crossed that it turns out well!

Hey Katie,
I was just wondering where you found that picture for buffalo check, that orange chaise/chair is exactly what I need for my office!

I definitely agree on the last point especially… rich, dark cabinetry with contrasting white granite or marble is definitely making a come back. And I love it!

Seems like coral mint and gold are super trendy with weddings already, just look at pinterest wedding boards 🙂 I need a pic of this dark cabinetry with light counters, I can’t picture it…. Loving everything else!

I just used coral, mint and gold for my first baby girl’s nursery. You’ve made me feel so trendy 😉

My 14 year old daughter and I did her bedroom in a mixture of tartan plaids, buffalo check, and navy and white damask last year. It’s not a conventional mix for a teenage girl, but she loves it! Make me smile to see that some of these made your list.

I found it on Pinterest. I don’t have an original source though 🙁
