Did you know that whenever I go to another country I pick out a piece of jewelry?  It’s kinda my thing now.  I got a pair of silver earrings on our honeymoon to Mexico, a red coral necklace when I went to Eleuthera, and a blue larimar ring on our babymoon to Dominican Republic.  Whenever I wear those pieces I try to remember the littlest details about those places.  I love remembering those schools of fish that surrounded me, feeling the rain on our back as we biked up the ancient ruins, smelling the sea air and the taste of salt on my lips.  It’s easy for me to go back there in my mind.  To retrace my steps and be in those moments all over again.

I feel the same way about my wedding bands and my engagement rings.   I feel the small gold ring that was my grandmother’s wedding band on my right hand and it takes me back to her.  Those memories, celebrating some big moments and important people in my life are commemorated with little jewels.  Yes…they are just things….but they are things that symbolize this one wild and beautiful gift I have been given.  And I hope one day that these pieces will pass down to others that I love and hold dear and maybe those people will think of me and our time together.

When I reviewed the ordering process, they actually sent me some of the jewels (I am returning them of course but I did contemplate ‘losing’ them or telling Gemvara that our dog ate them….no, we don’t have a dog) and when I saw the real thing in person…I was so impressed.  I actually learned that there was a green amethyst (my birthstone) and I am gonna keep that in mind whenever Jeremy takes me to Italy for my birthday (coughcoughhinthint).     I adore this necklace! After a very ugly split from an 8 year relationship, my daughter who was 4 at the time & I started saying I love you to the moon & back again. And its been something we say to each other every night since when I tuck her into bed. This necklace really caught my eye instantly! I am not a big jewelry person, but this is just to dainty and sweet not to love.

    This would make a perfect wedding band for me! Our wedding is in 7 weeks and I haven’t been able to find something I really love that has milgrain detailing to match my beautiful vintage inspired round brilliant with a cushion halo and filigree detailing! Jewelry is my favorite souvenier from my trips abroad as well– it’s a keepsake that never goes out of style and allows you to wear your memories and make them visible to all!     I would love that to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary this year. But, I’d really just like my own wedding ring fixed (or incorporated?)! I bet they could help us with that! A few years ago, I lost my large diamond. It was so sad! Now I can’t wear it because the setting is sharp without the diamond in it and would cut and poke people! 🙁 With 4 kids in this busy season of life, there’s just no budget for replacing rings!     Amethyst is my birthstone and I just had a vintage watch restored that is rose gold. So I am kind of loving the softness of rose gold PLUS my grandmother had a rose gold watch and that was the first time I even knew rose gold existed. I don’t know what happened to that watch but I collect old watches of my loved ones. I have my dad’s Accutron from the 60’s and my mother’s white gold cocktail watch and I have my grandfather’s pocket watch. I love holding these watches and knowing that they wore them.

    I chose this because I like simple necklaces and it is my father’s birthstone and he is the second most important man in my life, other than my husband. My father works Sunday-Monday with NO days off working as a food truck route person. He is the person who made me who I am today and I am ever grateful to that man. I love him dearly, and the best way to have him close to my heart is that necklace.

    I love this because it reminds me of my mom. I had to sell my jewelry a few months ago to pay bills after getting laid off from my job, it was hard for me bc the only pieces I had that were worth anything were given to me by my parents (both of my parents passed away years ago). Someday I would love to get pieces again that remind me of my parents!

  623. Gem ME!! My husband and I couldn’t afford “real” wedding rings when we were married 4 years ago and actually, quite honestly we still cant…HA!! My husband works in a machine shop so he made our rings himself out of scrap steel.     A little over a year ago my husband and I lost our first dog Riley. (We still have two dogs but they are not ours as a couple picked out together – they are family pets from before). We lost her suddenly at a young age. This reminds me of her because she used to snuggle between us. I love the blue gem betwen the diamonds. It would always remind me of the three of us.
