Let’s just pretend that Weston’s room is completely done and that this all happened about a year ago. I tend to be late.
REVEAL TIME!
Welcome to 2013!
Weston’s room had very blue beginnings. When we first moved in, we had basically thrown all the random stuff in here for storage reasons and shut the door pretending that this area didn’t exist.
That photo was after the new carpet. You can see that I am not exaggerating the blueness of the situation…
The previous owners really liked to match the carpet to the drapes walls. But the color of the room wasn’t the only problem. We also had a situation with the window. The vinyl windows were coming out of the opening (water issues?), and the little cracks made it prime real estate for wasps to nest. Nothing says Welcome to earth baby! like stinging insects. So we were hesitant to even start on this room to begin with until the window was fixed. After we had the outside painted (the painters also did some extensive repairs on trim work, including nailing this window frame back in place and sealing up any spots for wasps to hide), we felt like we definitely had the green light to work on the room.
Then we procrastinated. It seemed to drag on and drag on. I was slow making decisions…I would change my mind a bazillion times. Before we knew it, the room still wasn’t done and it was October. I told Jeremy that if there was anything I wanted done before Christmas, it was the laundry room and Weston’s room. He was like “oh yeah. Those will definitely be done.”
Christmas came and went…both spaces still weren’t done.
So now our goal is simple…get those two rooms in semi-decent working order before LJ arrives (my due date is on the 11th so that means if my water breaks, I will be installing a countertop in the laundry room in seventeen seconds. Guinness book of world records here we come.)
This space is officially done in my book…there are still things I would like to do down the line (ahem, new rug, new light fixture, a mobile over the changing pad, etc.) but none of them are deal breakers for me. This room is good enough to reveal as done…at least to me 🙂 So anyhoo…the befores were very blue…
And now the room is anything but blue…
We first painted the entire space Benjamin Moore’s Metropolitan Gray (we had it color matched to Behr paint) and I love the freshness of it next to bright white trim and ceiling. After that, we installed that faux brick wall. It might be my favorite thing ever. It creates a great backdrop for any kind of art I want to hang over Weston’s crib. I fully plan on trading the ‘fabric tapestry’ for other ideas over time (this was one of the biggest problem areas for me because I have a bazillion ideas on how to decorate above his crib so I will be using this as my focal wall for whenever I want to switch things up!)
Speaking of the fabric wall hanging…I will have a tutorial soon for ya. Right now it is great (albeit a little Christmasy) because it incorporates all these different colors bringing some fun and whimsy into the very gray space.
Side note : Will had this little fabric W in his room for the longest time. I bought it even before Will was born (we always knew that our first born son would be named William…) and he is VERY proud of it. Ever since learning that his name and Weston’s name both start with the same letter, he has been obsessed with W’s in general. So anyhoo…when I started doing more finishing touches in here, I asked Will if certain books or stuffed animals were better for him or for Weston and he came running out of his room holding the W and said that it was ‘puhfect’ for Weston’s wall. Melt my heart and call me buttah.
ok…enough sap.
On the wall next to the focal brick wall, we hung the oversized W over the toy boxes that Jeremy built. Don’t judge me for not styling the bookshelves…this is real life people. If I can get the books onto the shelves at all…that is an accomplishment.
Between the focal wall and the W wall, there is a weird little slanted wall. At first I wanted to just ignore it existed but then I decided that a random not centered frame display was just the ticket.
Since the room is basically very gray and white and the furniture is really quite monochromatic as well, I really wanted to bring in some fun colors. NOT BLUE. I wasn’t quite ready to go back there yet. So instead, EVERY OTHER COLOR got incorporated. I know it would drive some people crazy but for me, the little zing of colors here and there scream youth.
Plus, it makes it easy to use toys and kiddie books as decoration when you aren’t limited to just one accent color. It helps the art feel natural and the open storage seem a little less chaotic.
Opposite the crib, we have Weston’s changing table dresser. It is high and wide and enough storage for all of his clothes (TWO THUMBS WAY UP!). When I finally get around to making a mobile…I want it up above this dresser. You can never be too old for a mobile 🙂
Oh and in case you were wondering…Weston’s little animal, the one we associate with him….his spirit animal if you will…is the elephant. We are a bird family. Will is a tiger. Weston is an elephant. It doesn’t make any sense to logical people but to us it does. Anyway…he has elephant stuff all over but my favorite two are this huge stuffed one he got for his first Christmas…
and then this little ceramic elephant that my mom had in our kid’s bathroom when I was little (it used to hold hand towels). I saved it from her yard sale pile and am still obsessed with it to this day.
So that is Weston’s room as it is today. A little taste of the rainbow! Check it off the list! Only a year late….I mean….right on time 🙂

I love his room. I don’t know Weston but from what you’ve shared, it fits him perfectly. Great job Katie! 🙂
Barking Baby Mama says
Katie, I seriously LOVE it! The frame collection is my favorite part. And the wire toy basket – I love how all the neutrals make the toys pop and look like decor in accent colors 🙂 where is the wire basket from? Great, great job. What does Weston think?
Pamela says
You may think that fabric wall hanging is Christmasy, but I totally saw it as vertically layered surfboards! Also, I’m glad to finally comment on how happy that “Cat in the Hat” lampshade makes me. I ran to get copies of my old Dr. Seuss books to share with my little ones when you did your initial reveal.
Laura M says
So beautiful! I love the gray walls and pops of color.

So cute! I love the wall color you picked – looks great.
Melissa @ Loving Here says
I love it! I’m still in the pre-baby stage of fixing up our house, but when we do start having kids and designing nurseries, this is one I will look back on, for sure! Also, I don’t think not having a themed color room (like a blue and yellow nursery) is great for littles because you can do exactly as you said…use their stuff (in all its multi-colored glory) as the decor! Perfect!

Melissa @ Loving Here says
sorry…too excited…
Should say, “I don’t think not having a themed color room (like a blue and yellow nursery) is bad at all! In fact, it’s great for littles because you can do exactly as you said…”
April says
I love Weston’s room!! You are so talented!!
Katie says
He loves it (probably because he can get his own toys and books out! And he really likes the open play space 🙂 oh and the basket is from homegoods 🙂

Love, Love, Love the nursery and don’t think it looks too christmasy at all! Great job!
Juanita says
Love the toy storage!! did you have a post about that before? did you make it?? i need something for my boy and i just can’t decide.

What a breath of fresh air that room is now! What a sweet space for that sweet little boy of yours. Nicely done, Katie!! (AND it doesn’t look like every other room on Pinterest!)

LOVE it!
I’m still working on our 2nd son’s nursery and he’s 18 months old. Life happens!

LOVE! Can I ask where you got the Kelly green blanket?
Jeanna says
It’s a perfectly, happy, lovely room for your little guy 🙂
Jennifer says
Love it! so I am due with my second at the end of the month!!!! and im already stressing about how to divide up all the various baby things and storage times 2. Im curious how you manage the chaos of multiple kids? for example, in our bathroom I want to make sure we have the big kid stuff (toothbrush and toddler medicines) separate from the baby versions. Do you have any organization/storage tips? Or do you lump everything together and dig out what you need for whichever kid? maybe im being too type A 🙂
Mandy S. says
It’s fantastic! I love the blast of color in the gray space! Tres chic and so fun for Weston!
Kim M says
I can’t imagine what you have been doing with your time. I mean it’s not like you have a full plate or anything. 🙂 In truth I am in awe of all that you accomplish. You are an amazing mom, wife, friend, and on top of that you run a super successful blog. Then throw in the fact that you are pregnant. And, you still manage to craft and play with the boys. You are like SUPERWOMAN to me! Weston’s nursery is adorable. The only thing missing is a picture of you… wearing a cape. 😉
Christina says
I’m so obsessed with that giant W that ya’ll built! Love it! The room looks fantastic. Weston must be in heaven!! 🙂
Jenna says
Still love that “W” everytime I see it. I want to make an “L” for my little one but curious as to how you hung it on the wall?
Angie Prine says
I love it Katie!! I love your reveals, they are always so creative. Did you do a tutorial for the bookshelves that Jeremy made? I love those.
Ida says
I love all of it! I love the gray and the pops of color! Also, where is the owl print from? It’s awesome!
Christine says
What happened to the rug made out of runners?

I think you may have covered this in a previous post, but where are the curtains from? Looks so adorable!!!

Love love love the fabric wall hanging!

I love it – the different colors work because they are the same level of saturation. It looks like a great room to grow in to as well! Now go put some plug covers in the outlets near the changing table and I will sleep well tonight!
Sharon L. says
I love the nursery! I would also love to see a tutorial on how your husband built the toy shelves, they’re perfect for a kids space!
Meg says
Awesome job!!! And I’d call it finished (just with room for whatever tweaking you gosh-darn feel like gosh-darn doing!). 😉 Love the mix of colors — and the fact that it didn’t turn out like a rainbow tossing its cookies. You nailed it, especially with the perfect neutral gray and best faux brick wall in existence.
Christina @ The Murrayed Life says
Katie! This might be my favorite room that you have EVER done. I love, love, love the pops of color, that tapestry is amazing (and I didn’t think Christmas at all until you said it!!), and it just shows so much love and balance and youth. What a lucky little dude!
Kristen says
Love the faux brick wall! I am trying to figure out which wall in my house (kitchen, or one of my kid’s rooms) it would look best on. Would love further details on the process, Katie. You know, when/if you have the time. 😉

LOVE! i wish i could come back after having neither of my girls’ spaces done and been like — kapow! i was just making you wait for the awesomeness! — but it isn’t like that over here. 😉

Looooove it!!! You’re so good at this stuff! Did you already say where you got the chair in a different post? It’s really similar to something that I’m looking for. 🙂

That white-waashed faux brick wall! That fabric hanging! That little gallery wall! That big W! wow wow and WOW! I love it all!
Kate says
Yea way to go lady bird! So cute.
Amanda says
Love it! I am trying to sum up courage/hubby persuasion to do a “brick” wall. Best wishes with LJ! I’ve got three boys (and a girl) and they are so entertaining together. What a lucky little guy to get a family like yours. May your labor be short, your pushes be quick, and your booby calorie burn high!
Angela-Rose says
Both my 15 year old daughter & my 10 year old son agree that this is an awesome room…they both love the “brick”. I told you, that room will last…before you know it he’ll be breaking out the spray paint to add some graffiti! 😉
Anje says
My favorite part is the colorful tapestry. I love the colors, patterns and shapes! I also love the elephants because my daughter collects elephants, too 🙂
Candace says
So, not for nothin but, I’m currently working on my (first) nursery and on the hunt for glider/chair options. Is that grey guy: 1) comfortable? 2) a glider/swivel/rocker or stationairy? and 3) where from?
Kate says
Love it! Where did you get the bamboo (?) blinds that hook to the curtain rods?
Kacy says
Love it! I love the pops of color everywhere. Where did you get the bookcases at? Would love to find some like that!
Andreza Novaesd says
Is he already sleeping in that GORGEOUS nursery?
When are you starting LJ’s nursery? hahahaha
xoxo
Alison says
I agree, adorable. Doesn’t look Christmasy to me. Love all the primary colors. The fabric wall hanging is my favorite part. And you made it? Fits the room perfectly.
Barbara says
I lOve everything you do, but I can’t help but notice right beside the changing table is an open outlet…kind of scares me a LOT
Mary Beth says
What brand/model of crib is that? It looks super similar to one I’m thinking about buying! Do you find it’s tall enough?
Rebecca says
loving your brick wall even more in these pics. I had exposed brick in NYC. Your solution seems to be the next best thing!
cheryl says
that room seriously looks like something out of a designer magazine! love the knitted blanket
Kelli says
Looks great, Katie! I love the pops of green and red with the gray. Can’t believe your littlest guy is almost here!!! Way to get that room done!
Jessica Moroney says
I love Weston’s room! Actually, I adore both of your boy’s rooms (and the whole house really!) And I’m so glad Weston has his cute little room before LJ comes and you have to think of yet another focal wall!
The room is the perfect combo of Red & Green, with enough colour to scream youth, yet sophistication also! Well Done!
Ps, can you come do my house?? 😉
Grace@teachlovecraft says
The nursery is clean, vibrant, and young, yet sophisticated. I love it.
Any reason why you color matched to Behr? I use Behr paints out of habit, but you know how everyone has “their” go-to paint…
Tamsyn says
I am madly in love with this space! Everything about it is perfect :).
Juanita says
I love Weston’s nursery! What did you use for the faux brick wall? I feel the same way about “B’s” that you do about “W’s” in your home! 🙂
Sherri says
Aww- the room is perfect, Katie. I love the fabric tapestry. I agree with someone who said it looked like surfboards. That or fabric feathers. I think it just completes the space. You did an awesome job on everything! Is Weston officially sleeping in his big boys room?
Monique Wendler says
I LOVE this! the neutrals will make it easy for the room to grow with Weston as “themes” are really only phases then you have to re-do everything again! The colours will still be fab for a “big boy room”. Well done!
Stephanie Acker says
I love this so so so much! I have two boys; 2 years old and 6 months old so I love me a well done boy’s room 😉 The fact that your boys have spirit animals is adorable. My oldest has somehow become obsessed with Hippos so I can relate to the subtle incorporation of their animal counterparts. Way to go Mama!
Annette says
I love it! It has a Dr. Suess feel to it, without actually having any Dr. Suess stuff in it.
Katie says
Here is the link to how we installed the brick wall.
xo – kb
Katie says
We color matched simply because the nearest Benjamin Moore dealer is about forty minutes away. I definitely recommend using the brand maker to mix their own paints but in this case, it was just a matter of time management (forty minutes there + forty minutes back + twenty minutes in the store + two kids = my worst nightmare).
xo – kb
Katie says
We borrowed it from a friend from church and so I don’t have any details on it. I think it is an older Ikea crib. And it is definitely not as tall as Will’s crib but it hasn’t affected us yet.
xo – kb
Katie says
We got it from Babies R Us. Here is the post about it. And it is comfortable, it is a swivel rocker recliner. Does not glide but we didn’t want that – the recliner part was a deal breaker for us 🙂
xo – kb
Alison Martin says
Love this room!!!!!! Definitely my favorite room of yours thus far!!!!!!!!!
Katie says
It’s from Babies R Us and here is where I shared all about it.

Katie says
Yes it is!

Katie says
Jeremy built them! Here is the post all about them!
xo – kb
Katie says
Yes! He has been in here since ten months (if I remember correctly) so officially for five months now 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
It has plugs…I just didn’t get around to painting it gray yet so I took it out because I knew I would get comments about what an eyesore it was.
xo – kb
Katie says
haha! done 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
Here is the post about how we installed it. And then here is the post where I painted it.
xo – kb
Katie says
I guess that saturation thing was subconscious because I never thought of it that way! And no worries…the outlets have plugs – I just removed them for the photos because I knew that some folks would call them eyesores (I still need to paint them gray!)
xo – kb
Katie says
Here is the post about how he built them!
xo – kb
Katie says
We borrowed it from a friend but I think it’s an older version of the Ikea crib.
xo – kb
Katie says
They are from Ikea! They weren’t long enough so I had to tweak them 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
HAHA! Yes – Weston is in here…has been for about five months. And LJ’s nursery? Probably in another nine months 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
We screwed blocks into the wall studs and then hung the W on the blocks and screwed the wood of the W directly into the block so it is REALLY sturdy.
xo – kb
Katie says
I got it at a thrift store! And I used it for one of the little ‘brother’ photoshoots I did when Weston was first born so it is really sentimental for this guy 🙂
xo – kb
Paige @ The Room Kit says
LOVE IT. This is exactly what I want to do for a nursery when we have kids–I think it would work really well for a girl, too, with a little tweaking. You’re spot on with the pops of bright colors making the toys easier to blend in.
Katie says
It’s a bible verse layered on top of a photo I took 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
Well, we keep all our medicines out of reach for both kids in the kitchen (since their bathrooms are attached to their bedrooms we don’t want them to get any ideas about being Doc McStuffins) and we actually keep all their toothbrushes and stuff like that in their jack-n-jill bathroom. It isn’t really organized per se but it works for now 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
We took it out because it just felt too dark for the space. It was already dark with the furniture and so I wanted to keep it lighter in here.
xo – kb
Andreza Novaesd says
you rock, Katie!
Eve says
What are your boys favorite books? I see you have a bunch just like us. You should do a favorites post with the boys favorites!
caroline [the diy nurse] says
Love that owl artwork! And I adore everything [except that before blue- my eyes are still bleeding]. I’ve noticed that the less I fear color the more it seeps into my home. At first our living room just had pink accents. And now there’s some gold. And Christmas? Forget about it. Color explosion.
Poof.
Kate says
Love! Love! Love!! It looks perfect for a little boy and will grow with him!
Love the bookcases. I remember loving them when Jeremy built them for Will. Is his the same set? What do you have in their place in Will’s room?
Katie says
It is the same ones. We actually put the dark ones (we got them at the thrift store but they are originally Pottery Barn) in Wills room. They are almost identical except one top unit has doors.
xo – kb
Katie says
HAHA!
xo – kb
Katie says
It changes all the time! Right now Weston loves any of the Winnie the Pooh books and the Trucks picture book and Will is into the Disney Bedtime book (his favorite is Pinocchio) and he always loves the Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site book…but honestly, Will loves all books – he always has and will probably be my kid that gets in trouble for reading fiction when he should be studying 🙂

Katie says
It is by Ashley Percival – he’s a very talented artist! Look him up on etsy!

We did! Here is the link to that post!

We did a post about it long long ago! Here is the link.

I love this room so very much!
Random question, but I was pregnant with my second boy at the same time you were. I remember your instagram post of the arrows and proverbs verse. It struck a cord the second I saw it and I fell in love. Ended up copying for our sons nursery in a little nesting craft session. I don’t see it in westons’s room now? I have a freaky memory:)
Again, another great job on a special space for your sweet boy!!
Urban Wife says
Hi! We have that crib from Ikea. It’s the SUNDVIK in black-brown. 🙂
Katie says
I put it in Will’s room but I don’t know exactly where it will stay 🙂
xo – kb
Jessica Moroney says
Haha, and by doing so you’ve still got comments about it 😉
Jessica Moroney says
Have you considered a big boy bed for Will to swap cots…I guess that will happen with LJ’s arrival, or will you have 3 cots (AUS cribs) ?
Katie says
We have. We didn’t want to transition Will out of his toddler bed until he was ready…so we let him bring it up. He didn’t even mention it until recently (his cousin and his friends all sleep in twins so I guess that is where it comes from) so we plan on switching him to a twin soon and we will still have LJ in our room till 9 months.
xo – kb
Alyssa says
The room looks great! And you’re right, right on time:) I see in the comments you mentioned that he’s been in there for about 5 months. Just wondering if he sleeps well? I think you mentioned will gets up several times and that they both co-sleep with you? I think? Maybe? That or will just falls asleep in funny places…like in his toy box, right? Haha
Liz says
We are a bear family. My boys are elephant and giraffe !! I’m so glad to know I’m not the only animal / family / person !!
Fran says
Thank you for not styling the bookcases. It’s nice to see real life on blogs sometimes, especially in a reveal for a kid’s room. I expect about 5 minutes after you took the picture they were probably all on the floor anyway! Thanks for keeping it real 🙂
Lauren @ Faith and Macaroni says
Love this room! It’s just the right mix of being a nursery (without looking like Babies R Us exploded) and pleasing to an adult’s eye (without looking like a formal living room). Awesome.
My daughter has the same dresser in white. Everyone thought I was nuts for getting such a big one, since baby clothes are so little. But I love that I can keep extra stuff there – even 2 or 3 sizes of clothes, diapers, and other randoms! It really is an awesome height too.
Katie says
Weston does sleep well. Weston is a short-nap, regular bed-time kinda kid. Will is more of a napper…always has been and has always hated sleeping at night…I am guessing that its probably due to the night terrors and nightmares. Will definitely prefers to co-sleep whereas Weston is fine in his own bed. We did everything the same from the get-go (co-sleeping till nine months, regular sleep schedules, no caffeine, plenty of exercise, etc.) with both of them so who knows why they are so different!
xo – kb
Katie says
That’s what we do too! One of the top drawers is completely dedicated to diapers and wipes and then there is another drawer just filled with changing table essentials/lotions/etc.

I love that wall hanging! It’s perfect!
His room makes me want to have another baby. It’s so simple, yet bold and could grow with him!
Susan says
Love the nursery! Especially the brick(like) wall and the colors. Very warm and inviting.
Congratulations on your growing family! 🙂
Tanja says
You definitely do know how to work with pops of colour!
Love all the added details, like the faux brick wall, the green accents, the red trim on the curtains and the fabric banner – what a great idea! . It’s a lovely room!
Julie says
What a cool room! I love the mix of colors and patterns…and that art piece over the bed = awesome!!! Great job!
kristin says
fyi- you ROCK! i totally rented with the first three kids being born, and so we put up some super simple stuff. when kid 4 was born, we decorated the room for the first time with all the stuff i got for the baby shower from kid 1. things (my preferences) had changed over 4.5 years, but i was so happy to get ‘er done. then we moved 9m later.
no worries that you took a bit of time! i’m done trying until i know we’re staying in one place for a while! 🙂
Jeanine says
I love all the color, and I’m sure Weston does too! I was wondering if you think that your new baby might feel a little left out if his name doesn’t start with W as well? I just remember hearing the Duggars explain that they named their first two children names that started with a J, and they kept it up after that because they didn’t want their other children to feel left out or something along those lines. I know, maybe a little too much thought going into that argument, but just curious if you’ve thought of that?
Amanda says
Agreed! I thought that immediately when we saw the red-striped lampshade a while back. Invokes the cat in the hat without being exactly that! Plus the “trees” are kind of wacky like Dr. Seuss. Love the whole thing and especially the courage to put in so many different colors. It really works!
rashi says
The brick wall /bookcase is great.
And didn’t u have the Target rugs in there…?
Did u not like them in the end?
Holly says
It looks awesome!! I’m amazed at all you get accomplished with two little boys and pregnant!
Reenie says
So cute!! Love the colors.
Lauren says
So awesome! Love that brick wall and color scheme, so fresh! I am on a hunt to figure out the best way to secure furniture to the walls, so no tipping from little climbing kiddos? What is your method?
Katie says
I gotta be honest…that is a very odd thought to me. I could really apply the “left out” concept to anything…what if two had blue eyes and one had brown?! What if two had family names and one didn’t? What if one had (fill in the blank) and the others didn’t? I mean, as a parent it is my job to make each kid know they are special and unique while also encourage them to value family and their role in our little home. I just feel like that isn’t my parenting (or naming) style….but to each his own! My mom is one of four kids all with D names so it’s not a weird concept but just not a huge priority to me.

I love love love that tapestry wall hanging! It’s graphic and colorful and looks so dang good on that faux brick wall.

Hi Katie,
That brick wall is to die for!!! Is it bad I want it for mine and my husbands room? I’m doing it!
I read the post about how you put it up, but I am wondering how exactly you painted it? What color did you use and what technique? It looks a little weathered?
Again, love it!
Thanks,
Steph

Can I just say that I LOVE that wall hanging! I hope you do a tutorial on that. So, so creative. This room is so cute. This is the correct way to do pops of Kelly green. Way to go!

You just may be my kindered spirtit!! I still haven’t finished my sons room and he’s going on 15 months!! I haven’t even hung the bear mobile aka spirit animal mobile (that I bought…so I don’t even have the “making it” excuse). Ps. You look super cute in that green jacket from today’s post!

Love that you are so real. Around the time most bloggers would be sharing LJ’s room reveal, you give us Weston’s. Thanks for not pressuring all us busy people to be perfect every second of every day.
Looking forward to LJ’s arrival and a nursery reveal in 2015!
Sana says
It looks great, and very polished, playful but not kitschy! I wonder, do you happen to know where did you buy that owl print from the last photo? My sister is obsessed with owls and although they seem to be everywhere now, I haven’t seen something this cute in a while! Thanx 🙂
Nayla says
I dont usually comment but had to tell you that
1. Love the nursery and the colors. Soooo childish and grown up at the same time. Maybe my favorite yet.
2. Love that you didnt style the bookshelves but even more so that you called people out who comment on that stuff. If other people put things back that perfectly- kudos to them but def not the norm.
Anyway, I’m sure the other comments already said so- but here’s one more pat on the back/congratulatory comment! 🙂

Man oh man, I love this room! I am so picky sometimes, but I wouldn’t change a single detail. You did a wonderful job. Sometimes I think that’s the benefit (as has proven in my own home) about having to take so long to finish something: you really end up with something you love and is well thought-through as you have time to let the things you’ve done with the room ‘simmer’ for awhile. I find the longer a room takes me, the more satistfied I end up being. You’d think I’d learn patience from this, but no.

Oh my goodness, this is amazing! Exactly what I envisioned for my next child’s nursery {nevermind that I am not even pregnant yet!}
Another design knocked out of the ballpark! Good job, KB.

Hi Katie!
The room looks great! I am new to the blogging world and have been loving looking through your photos and projects… you do great work! Thanks for posting!

Love, love, love it! I’ve been following your blog for years now but am slack at commenting. If I was rich and (you were willing) I’d totally fly you and the family to Australia and pay you a zillion dollars a day to restyle my 1975 ugly high set home 🙂 thanks for taking the time to share all of your little decorating details!

Great room! Can you tell me where you got your curtains/fabric?
Nelle says
I seriously adore this room!! It is perfect!! It could have come straight out of interior design magazine! And that picture above the cot – my favourite thing!!!

Love! When the time comes (I gather lj will co sleep) will he (lj) get his own nursery and/or will some kids start sharing rooms? Can’t remember how many rooms are in the house, and I know (God-willing) your baby making days aren’t over 😉
Katie says
The curtains are from Ikea…I did add a little bit of fabric on the bottom (the plain red) to make them long.

Aww thank you! That is so sweet 🙂

We have always said that we will have the boys share rooms at one point or another…we don’t really know how that will work right now but hopefully when the time comes for LJ to move out of our room, we will know 🙂

It’s by an artist named Ashley Percival. He has a shop on etsy if you are looking for cool art!

A lot of our tippable furniture comes from Ikea (so it comes with the secure-kit)…and otherwise, we usually use the heavy duty Velcro for other things like mirrors, art, etc.

I love his room! And I don’t care one fig how “late” it is, and I’m very sure he doesn’t either. : ) I love the way you put the colors together. You seriously have an eye for this, lady!

Love how it turned out! But mostly I’m just commenting to say that for some reason (maybe because I’m just starting the work day and thinking about serious things) your “they really liked to make the carpet match the drapes” comment made me laugh out loud at my desk. For like 20 seconds.

I love that you take your time with the nursery. This looks great.

Okay Katie! I am DYING to know how you did that brick wall…!!!!

Katie, where is your rocker/glider from and how high is the back. Does it recline?
Katie says
The rocker is from Babies R Us and it does recline. Here is the post about it 🙂

love this nursery still! where did you find the little number print on the accent wall?
Katie says
The number print is actually a puzzle that lost it’s pieces. I simply painted the insides where the number pieces use to fit.

Gorgeous! I love the gallery wall and that print above the cot

I absolutely love this room! I love how you’ve gone for a neutral pallet and bright pops of colour, this would be perfect for those wanting to get the nursery ready when expecting, but want the gender to remain a surprise.
