Let’s get all estrogeny up in here, shall we?!
That’s right folks…let’s do one uber-girly table setting. This time my goal was to set the table for something I would actually do for my own dear mother. When I imagine what I would do for Mommy-dearest, it would be a tea party for two….just her and me.
Nothing says girly girl better than a ruffled edge dish and a pastel color palette and a few hobnail candlesticks or lacy textures.
And pink ribbon. It’s absolutely necessary. Lots and lots of ribbon.
For the centerpiece, I used a ribbon plate (they were called Dress Me Up plates from Southern Living at Home) and a vase with flowers.
I also put in my simplest teapot and a tiered plate holder for the tea and brunchy biscuits that I imagined I would make. by hand. from scratch. and they would taste fantastic 🙂
The flowers were just one of those basic bouquets from Walmart. I took out all the bright colors and used just the flowers that had soft colors and pretty textures. Those yellow ones are my absolute favorite. I have no idea what they are called but HOLYCOW.
Because the vase that is holding it would obviously not be able to hold water…what with the hundreds of holes…I slipped an old spaghetti sauce jar inside to hold my flowers water cup. It all disappears once it’s dropped down inside.
Anyone want to tell me what type of flower that is? And send me them everyday?
Oh and just in case my mother was hungry, I could also serve her some lemons in cupcake wrappers.
Seriously though…if this was real, those plates would be filled with yummy sandwiches and fruit as a garnish.
So there is my most feminine tablesetting ever. It would also work for a brunch you want to do with your grandmother, your neighbor, your favorite lady from your bunco group or bible study. It’s really versatile…and basically, everyone can have three simple things for your centerpiece (tiered plate holder, a vase with flowers, and a little sign that states how you feel.) Men that happen to read this…major major bonus points if you do this for your lady.
p.s. Congrats to Melissa! Our winner of the Impressions Hardwood giveaway! You should have an email in your inbox right now girl! For those of you interested – Impressions is on Facebook and they post other giveaway info & have contests like the Ugly Floor contest! Check them out here.
p.p.s. Two more posts to do today! It’s a crazy week! Ahh! Stay tuned!

Katie, it’s a pompom mum, I think. Or spider mum. Just ask for the mum as big as your head…they’ll figure it out! Thus is my favorite table scape so far!
Nicole says
THIS is my favorite!!!
Jules says
My favorite!
Julie says
Are the flowers Spider Mums ? maybe ?
BEE says
Your flowers are:
pink asiatic lilies (with the 6 big petals)
pink carnations
white chrysanthemums
yellow spider chrysanthemums (they could just be common chrysanthemums)
white baby’s breath
This my favorite table! And the name you gave it is so funny 🙂
Leslie says
Zinnias.
Denise says
I think the yellow lovelies are Chrysanthamums (sp).
Melissa says
I just love this “Eastery” table setting. You truly have a gift for creativity, Katie! PS the yellow flower is a spider Mum I think 🙂

Hi Katie!
I could be wrong but the yellow flower looks like a spider chrysanthemum to me. I had some green ones in my wedding bouquet. They are gorgeous! The table looks beautiful too!
Jordan says
I think those flowers are spider mums, I had some that looked similar in my bridal bouquet. If you like those, also check out dahlias, they are my all time favorite flower. They are big and fat and fluffy like spider mums and come in lots of pretty colors!
Marilee says
They are zinnias I think. They come in a bunch of different colors too. Beautiful!
Emily says
The yellow flower is a chrysanthemum- and you’ll be happy to know it’s November’s birth flower, which means you should buy them in large quantities for Weston! 🙂
Clara says
The yellow flower is a Chrysanthemum I believe. I LOVE them too =]
Angie says
I totally had green ones at my wedding, too! They look like sea anemones to me (in a good way). I had no idea what they were called. I was awful at wedding planning. I just closed my eyes and pointed half the time.
Whitney Dupuis says
Yeah, I think the yellow flower is a chrysanthemum. Beautiful!
kate says
I love that yellow flower too! I’m going to guess Chrysanthemum.

You are going to love that flower even more when you hear it is called a chrysantheMUM!

Hi Katie!
First off, I love your blog! I’ve been reading for a while but I think this is my first comment, so, woohoo! Second, those yellow flowers are football mums, and I agree, they are gorgeous!

So so pretty! Love it! My table setting was a bust yesterday, so I posted about something else instead. Such is the life of a blogger, right 🙂
Looking forward to your two other posts today 🙂

Katie-
They are Spider mums. I LOVE THEM. I actually had some in my bouquet at my wedding.
Cheers,

kristi@SimplePrettyThings says
chrysanthemum aka mum… it might even be a “football mum”. I had white ones at my wedding.
Rachel says
Idk what that yellow flower is but we HATED them at the funeral home. Those bad boys shed every time you look at them and we were always running around picking up pieces.
Anna says
I enjoyed reading through what everyone thinks that yellow flower is! They look an awful lot like the ones that I have on my blog from the wedding I was in this past weekend, and someone told me they were called football mums 🙂
Susan says
Pretty tables…but if you are going to go to the trouble of setting a table, you should really iron ( or steam) those table covers first 🙂
Genelle says
I know most of the commenters are saying spider mum, but I am 99% sure they are football mums. I am the product of a florist family and grew up around flowers and even sold them wholesale for a few years so I am pretty confident. Here is a link for a football mum http://www.google.com/imgres?sa=X&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=r0I6s0Z96JM6HM:&imgrefurl=http://www.bloomsbythebox.com/pub/orderflowers.cfm%3Fcategoryid%3D109%26productid%3D274&docid=ibI5eEmyT1y3JM&imgurl=http://www.bloomsbythebox.com/img/product/large/00274__Mum_Yellow_.jpg&w=200&h=200&ei=x_WoUfqRBcfK4APu7IGYDg&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:12,s:0,i:198&iact=rc&dur=1027&page=1&tbnh=160&tbnw=160&start=0&ndsp=21&tx=73&ty=94 and here is one for a spider mum http://www.google.com/imgres?biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=qdIQ8X-Q4PEnQM:&imgrefurl=http://www.wholeblossoms.com/164-wholesale-spider-mums.html&docid=sn_y-VFH3gbOxM&imgurl=http://www.wholeblossoms.com/images/Spider-Mums-Green-Flower.jpg&w=350&h=340&ei=1fWoUd_ILdTK4AOO6IDQAQ&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:2,s:0,i:165&iact=rc&dur=507&page=1&tbnh=185&tbnw=191&start=0&ndsp=19&tx=99&ty=113 so you can see the difference. A spider mom is more flat, sparse and spiky and a football mum is large, round and puffy.
Genelle says
*mum (not mom) 🙂
Mary | lemongroveblog says
So pretty! I think this would be great as an Easter place setting, too!
Jessica says
so pretty! i bet the moms loved all the table settings at their special event!
i had some in my wedding too like a lot of people, but my florist called them fuji mums..? they were my favorite! they were lime green and awesome.
Katie says
Terrible, huh?! I was trying to go quickly since I only have a short period where both boys nap (sometimes it only overlaps by five minutes)…so the wrinkles must be sacrificed 🙂

The title of this post kills me. So good.
Lindsay says
I agree. The fuller, large mums are slightly different than spider mums. My Mom was a florist and owned a number of floral boutiques and in her market they were most often called “commercial mums”.
