We got a new toy. Yup…it’s hard to add to an arsenal of DIY weaponry that we have…but surprisingly we had no paint sprayer…and thankfully we had a budget of $300 from Lowe’s Creative Ideas Magazine for a room makeover…so we decided that it would be worth the investment to chip in a hunk of our own change to get a paint sprayer. It’ll be especially helpful seeing as how 75% of the painting in that room can be sprayed.
In other news…I made a pie. My first. And it was delicious…crust from a box and all.
Lastly – I am obsessing over this lastest newborn shoot. The beautiful mama and new daddy were officially my ‘farthest-to-travel’ coming all the way from Ethiopia just so I could take their photos 🙂 Not really but that’s what I say when I need a self-esteem boost. They were coming to Atlanta to deliver and I am so glad that they entrusted me with capturing their first moments with new little Ryan.
Oh and prepare to be jealous – yes this girl is gorgeous and yes she looks like that just days after giving birth.
And they also get the award for ‘favorite-outtake-at-a-newborn-shoot’ when the cutie threw up all over and while mommy was wiping him clean, he reached up and touched her face….like saying ‘thanks mom for having my back’.
Babies are awesome. I need to find a photographer for when I give birth. Because I am fairly certain I will want some photos 🙂

This post made me so happy!! So…my MIL and my friend’s husband both work for Greco (oh, also my neighbor!). I’m looking forward to hearing how you like your paint sprayer 🙂 Also, I hope you continue to make delicious pies! It looks amazing (especially for a first attempt, wowee!) Finally, those pictures are so amazing and gorgeous. You really should be proud. I love the second one, and I am completely in awe. They look like they are sharing a funny secret or inside joke. You completely captured the emotions and deep, deep connection between the mother and baby. I hope you are having a good week!

Beautiful photos! Loved the outtake! I’m going to need to find a photographer, too, Katie. I would love it to be you, but Georgia is a long trip to take (from Michigan) with a newborn. Guess I’ll have to take my own pictures! They won’t be as professional but baby pictures are always cute, right? 🙂

Aw, that little one is adorable. My mom just got that sprayer too! She painted A LOT of white picket fence with it…! She watched some how-to video and it showed using it inside but she doesn’t know how to do it without getting it EVERYWHERE [maybe because of the wind -but it went everywhere]. I would love to see how using it indoors works out! Great job on the pie.
Kristen @ Popcorn on the Stove says

Such sweet photos! So this is random b/c I’ve been reading your blog for years, but maybe only commented 3 or 4 times, but you should totally check out my cousin as a photographer for when your new little one arrives. I say that not only b/c my cousin is a great photographer, but mainly b/c I feel like you guys would COMPLETELY (yes, all caps) hit it off! Like probably be best friends. You guys are both fun and quirky and have a passion for frugal house wares/projects, etc. She has a little boy that’s Wills age and they live in Canton, just outside of Atlanta, so probably not far form you right? Anyways, her name is Jessica Bunch and her website is http://www.ninemusesphotography.com.
And have fun with that sprayer! I absolutely love mine, except when it’s time to clean it.

i feel like this baby is interacting SO much more than any of my four did after birth. goodness. such beautifulness. i kind of want another (kiddo #4 is only 10m, and i think we’re done. i mean- God may have other plans, but i THINK we’re done. and in about a year i’ll be helping in the nursery at church to feed that baby fix i’ll probably forever have from here on out). i think that we’re all like ‘whoa, did that just happen?!’ and sleep for about two weeks. (i’m really hoping that the VBAC plans work for you!- i had preclampsia the first two kids so no choice for the first two- and then stuck after that. BUMmer)
Kaitlin says
I am so jealous of your paint sprayer! I was actually debating trying an ombre paint treatment in our room, but I didn’t think we could make it work well enough without a sprayer. Can’t wait to hear what you think.
P.S. I love pie, and yours looks LOVELY.
Nancy says
That one of mama & baby smiling at each other…precious!! You do a fantastic job, Katie!
Katie says
It’s strawberry…I didn’t use a recipe…I just sortof mixed up a can of strawberry pie filling, a bag of frozen strawberries, and some sugar and then a box mix for the crust. Dangerous to not use a recipe but I like living on the edge 🙂
