Addiction doesn’t describe how I feel about the MyColortopia Color Tool. It’s more like dependency.
It captures me so much because it blends two things I have passion for: photography & home design.
Obviously I love taking photos. I love getting the light. the contrast. the colors.
And I love seeing what hues the Color Tool can pull out of those photos. And then the color pairings of that hue with complimentary colors. It’s like instant decorating for color-stumped decorators.
I told you before about it. It’s simple.
Choose photo.
It outputs. (um…that output would be colors based on the photo.)
You pick one of those colors.
It gives you MORE colors so that you can decorate your room 🙂
You smile. rejoice. celebrate. eat chocolate.
Last time I took it one step further and inputed (inpuuted, inputted, huh?) one of my own favorite photos…
And wanna see how addicted I am? Imagine I’m a Glee girl and this is my solo. Watch me now…
Bam. You thought this is just a picture of a bridge. Oh no. It’s a sure fire no fail color scheme for bedrooms across the world.
And this isn’t a bridge with some pretty landscaping.
No. It’s a color palette for some kitchens and living rooms.
And you only thought this was a lovely photo of my baby…
Well…you are right. except it’s not just lovely. it’s lovely AND adorable 🙂
But it’s also a great way to get some smokin hot bathrooms in the mix.
So now it’s your turn…go upload your photos…design away.
And when you run outta photos…tell all the other fine bloggers over there how much I appreciate their free design advice.

I love the Colortopia site, and you are totally the one that pointed it out to me. Good call them for having you advertise.
Also… I live in Chattanooga… and I would absolutely love a digital copy of your picture of the Walnut St Bride from Coolidge park. Would it be possible for me to get that somehow? It’s gorgeous! I wish I had your talent or camera, lol.

What an awesome tool! I really need to start using this. I am horrible with putting together color schemes! I am the queen of beige in my home and a female Johnny Cash in my wardrobe.

I recognize Chatt-town! We moved here 3 years ago and love it! Those bridges feature big time in my photos 🙂

I love this tool as well. But what is the paint brand if you were to buy? I was confused as to how I get it.

Love the new examples! I noticed you changed the header, and I was wondering where you got the pattern from? I’m always looking for surface design and pattern design inspirations!

Happy Valentine’s Day! This year I made bacon wrapped pretzels for my mom (who also happens to be an extreme lover of bacon like yourself) as I heard of this recipe from a friend, and they were AMAZING. As I was reading your blog today, I thought of you, especially since it is valentine’s day and you did NOT mention bacon – give them a try. I found the recipe on Paula Dean’s website. yum, yum! Enjoy!

Totally unrelated to the post, but I love the new header!

It’s Glidden brand paint available at any Home Depot – and the color tool tells you exactly what hues would be complimentary!

Hi Katie- I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and really enjoy it and your sense of humor. I grew up in Snellville and have cousins who live in Loganille. I was an art
Major in college and enjoy seeing all the projects and ideas you come up with. I can’t wait for my husband and I to not be moving so frequently to be able to get a house and
Start projects of our own.
This has nothing to do with this post, but I saw this bacon apron and thought of you. Haha it also comes in a tea towel..how exciting! Check it out! http://www.fiskandfern.com/product/pancake-monster-little-apron
