Photo dump extravaganza continues. (does it count if I have only ever done one photo dump post in the past? does that make a repeat an extravaganza? please say yes.)
Okay – so you know what is gonna happen – I will show you some old photos from May and narrate what is happening…so boys, you can tune out if you want…no hurt feelings….girls, be warned that this is kinda boring….and mother in laws – eat your heart out 🙂 just kidding…but seriously, this is for you who-adore-my-awesome-baby….
and tomatoes….mmm….
and flowers….mmmm….
kidding…this is actually a shot from the park.
the park we went to with the main attraction here…
For some reason, May was the month that Will really turned up the personality dial. He all of a sudden was not an opinionated baby…but an opinionated toddler who acted on said opinions.
This was also the month that he became aware of animals…and was not interested in them. I however was acutely interested in these baby geese. Whenever I see baby animals, I think it might be God telling me that THAT would be the month for baby #2. We know now that these quacklings were simply a sign that Vines Botanical Gardens has geese that get it on.
Will exploring the gardens…
He loved this little red bridge…it was smaller and he got so excited about going up on top. It’s funny how babies know when things are miniature sized…them-sized…and are drawn to them. I sometimes wonder if giants are the same way. I vote yes. Evidence? My uncle Derek is a rather large man and you should see the bathroom he built himself.
It’s hard to believe that it was such a short time ago…his hair wasn’t even long enough to get in his eyes yet.
Oh and May was also the month that I continued my faceless portrait efforts. I love these of Jer & Will…
baby grips!
Almost as cute as the Shakespeare hand….almost 🙂
This month we also focused heavily on Cole riding his bike. Poor kid still struggles with it. It’s almost like he’s gone past the point of return…the bikes are getting so big for him that he can’t control them…yet, he can master a jump-back-flip-whip-pounce on Lego Star Wars video game in a matter of moments.
Will’s hair makes me so happy. I cut it off tonight…and seeing these photos makes me kinda wish I hadn’t.
When he’s not sitting in my lap, he’s begging to ride the four-wheeler. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I’m raising a redneck.
John Deere? Yup. Total redneck.
May also marked Will’s first trip to the Pottery Barn outlet. Welcome to heaven Will.
His hair cracks me up here. He doesn’t even look like himself.
Wait – apply those statements to both the boyfriend and the baby.
The sweetest part of this post is the next onslaught of photos…
Will’s first ice cream cone. We went to Bruster’s (one of our absolute favorites) and got Will his first free baby cone. (he was licking mine in the photo above while we waited for his!)
I was a little nervous because 1. we don’t give the little guy a whole cone of sugar on a daily basis and I didn’t know how he’d react and 2. he doesn’t drink regular milk…only almond milk…and while in irrational-mother-mode, I was concerned that even a little bit of icecream made with regular milk might make him more susceptable to ear infections…you might say that I have a very healthy fear of ear infections.
He was kinda confused about the entire thing.
Confused because he loved it and could only have the baby cone.
His chocolate goatee slays me. He looks like a 1996 boy band member…that is also a vampire.
But of course, nothing says Will Bower like his paci. This thing calls his name. It’s the same one I ranted about many times before. And to be frank…I am shocked that we still have it. Seriously. Maybe we should get an award or something. Because I think that “17 Months of Pacifier Dedication and Retention” would look awesome on a trophy. Just sayin…
okay – so that was May…more to do…much much more.
In other news – we have some new sponsors! Double back flips Batman!
Welcome to Tiny Prints! I am thrilled to have them onboard…especially since their holiday cards are amazing and I need that shortcut to them in my sidebar so I won’t forget to order my Christmas cards this year. Yeah…these are so much cooler than the ones I can make…or buy at…well…anywhere in Loganville. I’m just having a hard time deciding between a tri-fold like this or a regular multi-photo card like this…any thoughts?
I’d also like to welcome back Coca & Ella…who is still kicking it outta the ballpark with things like baby keepsake prints (collective AWW!) and custom printable invites for all those important moments in life…like baby showers 🙂
So that’s it for now….off to prep more for the wedding. Hopefully I’ll have a giveaway post up later for ya’ll…it’s a good one too 😉 Wish me luck…no scratch that…wish me endurance!

Love the Shakespeare hand!!

I can’t believe you’ve kept track of the same pacifier for 17 months! We lost 12 in four months.
I do have a question that’s totally unrelated to everything, so please forgive me if I’m way out of line, but are you still nursing?
Whitney Dupuis says
I love the photo at the park with the sun flare! Fantastic!
Kristen @ Popcorn on the Stove says
I love the photos of Will with the ice cream. They are too cute. And that goatee is hysterical!!

I love Tiny Prints! I use them for my reception invites , shower invites, christmas cards…they are the best. Love them.
I need to see Will’s haircut!
Barb says
About the paci…don’t worry. He won’t go to college with it in his mouth…I promise! And my point is…don’t throw them out. My kids are 31 and 34 and I still have a ” binky” of each of theirs…never mind that they are dry rotted a bit. Long story made short..I use them as Christmas ornaments and hang them on the tree. Talk about a conversation piece. I love it, and my kids think it is great fun. I also hang a few teething toys that are memory bound.
Be careful on the 4 wheeler with the little guy. Kind of dangerous!!! Just sayin’……your call!
Have a wonderful wedding weekend!

Will has the most mischievous grin. So cute! Both those cards from Tinyprints are great – so hard to choose but I think I like the trifold. BTW – when you do your next photo shoot will you put a baby in a big wood bowl! – oh my goodness that is so adorable.
Melanie @ Mailbox Journey says
haha! i feel the same way when I see that on my blog! gotta love bower power.
Melanie @ Mailbox Journey says
Love all the photos, as usual!
Carla says
Will is just adorable – how do you stand it?!
I wanted to ask about your decision for almond milk – what made you choose that over cows milk? Every one thinks I’m nuts (har har) for wanting to do almond over cow but i think milk is more for baby cows… I give my baby cheese and yogurt so that counts right?! Just curious – I don’t know too many moms who go this route. Thanks!!
SushiMama says
Will is just perfect. Makes me want a little boy!
Jess @ Little House. Big Heart. says
Katie, your photos are amazing. I’m on the hunt for my first DSLR (after having broken my point and shoot during the Pinterest Challenge) and I can’t wait to start learning all the ins and outs.
Where did you learn how to take such great photographs?
Melissa@ AlmostFitChick says
I think will would make a great boy band vampire… Love photo dumps and love these pictures of will… Could he get any cuter? I submit that he cannot!
Katie says
Self taught…probably was the homeschooler in me 🙂 But I still have a long way to go…I feel like I am just starting to understand how little I know!

We went this route because we heard that cow’s milk MIGHT have an association with increasing the risk of ear infections. Since Will is allergic to pennicillin (sp?) and he was prone to those ear infections (he had 4 in the first month of cow’s milk), we decided to do ANYTHING that might possibly help. So far, so good.
Oh and yes, he does get cheese and yogurt so it’s not all milk products…just his main drinking supply 🙂

I laughed out loud this morning!! Thank you. I love each and every comment you make about your beautiful family! I have said this before, but there is something very similar about your sweet Will and baby Ella. Must be the cheek chub, the hair, the adorableness (is that a word?). Either way, I love seeing Will…it’s liking looking at the boy version of my baby girl…well and the older version…those teeth he has are amazinballs!
Katie says
Oh heavens yeah it is dangerous. We putter through the yard at a snail’s crawl…I honestly think he is more in love with the fact that he has a motor rumbling under his bum than going fast 🙂 And I love your idea about the Christmas ornament – totally coping that!

I am a retired breastfeeder 🙂 Will went 1 year and 1 day…and those last few months it was a STRUGGLE. He really was quite over it when he discovered the sippie cup…but I had a goal of 1 year so we did it till then and I let him decide after that…he never asked 🙁 I guess he’s definitely not a boob man!

Katie says
haha…well, you are fabulous Nicole – way more chic than me (like that red dress you wore recently – HAWT!) so you definitely deserve it 🙂

Always great to see pictures of your adorable little guy. Good luck with the wedding! And give yourself a little time to relax — we will all understand if you don’t have time to post for a couple days while you recover.
Kim says
Multi photo card, definitely. Will is so cute! I miss mine being little.
Amanda says
John Deere? No, no no! That alone is only for your casual, uncommitted, weekend redneck. It is the John Deere in UNDERWEAR that makes him a true dyed-in-the-wool, 24/7 redneck! Frightening that I should know this….
Nancy says
Re learning to ride a bike: I think I read it on Flower Patch Farmgirl’s blog…a trick suggested is to remove the wheels and once they have the balance thing down, put on the wheels. My kids are way past this but whomever said it swore by it. So maybe it’ll help Cole if he goes back and tries that.
Lynn says
GREAT score on Tiny Prints as a sponsor. I used them for my baby announcements and will be sure to frequent them more now that I know they have great taste in whom they choose to sponsor 🙂
Meg@Keeping up with the Jenks says
We’re on Almondmilk too! So, yes, I am afraid of giving her ice cream (I know she will love it though). Milk upsets her belly (and mommy when she has to clean the cloth diapers-ugh!) i hope we outgrow it.
I love his sweet, sweet face.
Senidng you good thoughts with numero 2- as I always say, just enjoy the process!
Kim says
Nancy – I think you mean the pedals, right? I just read something about this too and saw a whole step by step instruction thing somewhere – babycenter maybe? Anyway, you remove the pedals and have the child practice balance going down slight hills (very slight) – they learn to balance, then to brake, etc. Eventually you put the pedals back on and they can ride!
Carla says
Oh wow I’m so glad that the almond milk is working out! Thanks for filling me in… I appreciate it!
Kelly says
I love these posts with all the photos! Will is an adorable baby/toddler – and you take amazing pictures of him! You can definitely tell he’s got a personality from all the faces he makes. 🙂
Brittany says
I have to ask, were you at the Pottery Barn Outlet in Dawsonville, GA? I LOVE that outlet center. My husband and I drive up a couple times a year from Auburn, AL.

Love these photo dumps! Will is so cute, I especially love the ice cream photos 🙂
Shannon says
Love the photo dump! I definitely need to do this. I end up months later coming across pictures that I should have posted on my blog (b/c it’s pretty much a ‘baby book’ for my kids) but they didn’t really justify a whole post….just a cool memory.
I just might have to steal this idea! 🙂

Hi! I’m a fairly new follower – never commented before – but I loved all the pictures of your little cutie! I’m curious about the Almond milk, too. I had to cut out dairy from my diet the first 4 months or so of nursing because my daughter was sensitive to the protein in cow’s milk (we think), and now I only drink Almond milk (although I do have cheese). I’ve been debating giving her almond milk instead of cow’s milk when she hits a year. Did your pediatrician have anything to say about that or did you just make the call yourself and watch his diet to make sure he got everything he needed?
Erika says
wow! can’t believe you haven’t lost the paci or he hasn’t thrown it somewhere to not be found! my son is 13 months so I love watching will grow up – it is like a little glimpse to 4 months from now….can’t wait to see his haircut!
Katie says
We asked our pediatrician to see if it was okay and she said it was worth a try…that it probably wouldn’t make much difference (except on our wallets since almond milk is a little more expensive) but that if it helps then we wouldn’t lose anything by trying. So we did…and it stuck. We obviously can’t say it’s prevented ear infections but he hasn’t had one since (knock on wood).

Katie says
Yup – that’s the one…isn’t it great?!?!

haha – this comment is so flattering…totally made me smile Lynn. You really know how to compliment a girl 🙂

Totally random (and the suggestions above to just take the bike pedals off def. make sense as a cheaper jumping off point) but I ran across this while looking for some other REI outdoor classes. It’s their bike riding class for kids who are struggling to learn.
