**I had my post done this morning at 10am….but I guess I clicked save instead of publish….so it will be a two-fer for those of you reading in the morning 🙂 That’s what happens when you try to blog on spring break I guess!
DIY is kinda like taking a dip into a swimming pool. You can do backflips into the deep end, swan dives off the high dive, or you can simply sit on the steps….but it’s ALWAYS a good idea to get your feet wet just a little bit. Not only does it save you money, build your confidence and improve your home….it’s common sense! And that is what this post is all about….building that common sense arsenal for the average homeowners. This one is for my arm-floaty-wearing-rookie-DIYers who maybe are in their first home, trying new things for the first time with a tight budget and big dreams of making their house a home. This was for me…ten years ago 🙂 It has ten different DIYs that are super simple that everyone should know. Each one of these you can do so frequently that it makes sense to educate yourself and save on the calls to the handyman. Here are my top ten easy DIYs and if there is any other home questions that you would love to see a post about….let me know in the comments!
How to switch out a toilet seat
How to launder just about everything
How to paint stairway railings
How to seal around your doors and windows
I hope that you guys feel more empowered to take on these simple projects and improve your home. I know that if I can do it, you can too. I mean…we all start somewhere and even if it is just learning how to staple some fabric to a chair seat…it’s something!
p.s. This week we are traveling to Pigeon Forge and DOLLYWOOD. I am screaming that guys. It’s DOLLYWOOD!!!! And so if you want to follow our spring break adventure, we are posting a ton on Instastories 🙂 I am @bowerpowerblog and yes, the chances are .00000000001% that I might see Dolly but in the famous words of Llyod Christmas….You’re telling me there’s a chance!!!!

Oh Katie!! Y’all are gonna LOVE Dollywood!! I am so jealous! I went there for summer vacay every year of my life and then got to take my own buckaroos. I jumped ship on all social media, so I hope you do a post about it. I know you’ll fall in love and will want to go back again & again. Have fun!! ❤

Hope your trip is so much fun! I’m loving watching you guys on Instagram. Also, love all of these posts – there are so many simple things that you can do around the house without a lot of knowledge or experience!

Hey Katie! Here’s a question for you! What are the basic tools a DIYer should have on hand? I’m tempted to do more projects around my house, but all I really have is a basic toolset and painting supplies. I feel like I need a saw, sander, nail gun, and I don’t know what else to truly be equipped to tackle anything beyond small projects and repairs. If you’ve never posted about that, I think that would be super informative! Or if you have, I need to dig it out of your archives!
Katie says
Actually we have done a post about that! Here is the link 🙂
