Welcome to my front porch guys!

Today I am participating in Just A Girl’s Welcome Home Tour and I’m more excited than a toddler in a room full of elevator buttons! This Welcome Home Tour is the brainchild of Chris and honestly….this is really intimidating and I hope I don’t embarrass her 🙂 There are so many other great bloggers participating in this christmas porch and entry tour and I am so honored to be part of it. So if you are new to this part of the blogosphere, welcome!
Our exterior decor for the holidays is the same each year. We have wreaths for the windows and doors and have topiaries for our front porch planters with twinkle lights. The cushions get swapped out on our front chairs for red ones and it makes everything feel so Christmasy! We have a big front porch but we try to keep it simple and clean so that it doesn’t feel cluttered. I would say overall, the style is very classic with just enough sparkle…because bokah matters people 🙂

The foyer opens into the dining room and the office and stairway. When you face the front doors from the inside, you can see one of my favorite DIYs….these tree planters with smaller trees!

I love these bad boys and every year they look so gorgeous and stately.

Our center foyer table has some Christmas trees and a couple terrariums full of ornaments. Ok. I’m gonna tell you right now….I tend to have hoarder tendencies…and christmas decor trees are my JAM. and my peanut butter. and my Nutella. you know….for when you are feeling frisky. I have way too many to count….but there is well over 50 in my house. Yikes. I just said that out loud didn’t I?

So beyond the foyer table, we have this little stair alcove and it has a demi-lune table that is my favorite spot I like to spruce for each holiday. This Christmas it became a little gnome village.
Aren’t these fuzzy guys so cute? I got four of them – one for each of my little munchkins 🙂 I also hung up a festive holly wreath and my christmas card holder.
In the foyer, you get a wide open shot of the dining room so I thought I would share that too since it got cheered up for Christmas. In here, you can see our kiddo’s Christmas tree.
We let them decorate it this year all by themselves and it was SO MUCH FUN. Nobody fought, nobody cried, and nobody redecorated it later 🙂 They actually did such a good job that no redecorating was necessary. I did have fears of the whole tree being weighted heavily on one side and it falling over – but thankfully that vision was only in my head.
The little bent Christmas star is my favorite 🙂
The dining room buffet (it’s actually the big console table that I built for the Haven conference!) became a perfect spot to plant my Christmas tree forest.
These are some of my favorite trees in my collection and I added some small glass and copper houses to create my own spin on those classic Christmas villages.
This is the first time with a tree in our dining room and I think it won’t be the last. I am obsessed with how the sparkle is seen from everywhere. You can even see it coming down the driveway! It plays so nicely with the console and seriously brings me so much joy. It doesn’t take much people 🙂
If you want to see some more of the Christmas decor we have up, you can read this post about all my christmas shelves and then this one has a video and pictures of our Christmas tree (it’s 12 feet tall. Basically I have a mall tree. in my house.) and our mantel.
And once you are done reading all that….there is even more holiday goodness because this tour ain’t over! There are 18 other bloggers sharing their festive porches this week! Check out all these amazing bloggers and their homes. I recommend heading to Sunny Side Up first and saying hi to Erin! You will walk away feeling completely inspired and ready for hot cocoa and whipping out the wrapping paper and christmas tunes!

Love the inside of the entryway but aren’t the chairs outside totally blocking the front doors? It looks like you have a really narrow path between them.
Reenie says
Pretty. Have your doors always been green?
Lindsay says
So pretty and festive! Did I miss where you painted the doors green? I thought they were black!
Katie says
We just have big everything here…it’s actually wide enough for almost two people…so we prefer it over a big wide path. It directs people to the correct door too which is kinda confusing when you have two.

We painted them! We have a whole video to share about it soon!

They were until recently! We painted them this fall! We shared it on Instagram but it hasn’t quite made the blog yet 🙂

What a beautiful house! Love the decorations! My kids were lucky to get a tree, wreath, and stockings this year. Ha! I love Christmas decorations just not any of the extra work. Ha
Jeri says
Love your gnomes, I bought gnomes this year to represent each of my kids as well. You found some cute ones!

Beautiful and festive! I really like the green doors! Can’t wait to read that post

Ummmm, you’re house is huge! And BEAUTIFUL! Love the trees flanking your front door in the foyer! So awesome!

I see Elsie and Jeremy from A Beautiful Mess and Sherry and John’s house.
Katie says
Yeah. It’s crazy big. Sometimes I still am shocked that it was a foreclosure 🙂

Your porch is lovely and I am obsessed with those trees flanking your front door inside your foyer! And that kid tree in the dining room is adorable! Love it! And I have to say I’m impressed, because my 3 boys decorated a kid tree in our family room and we ended up having to move the ornaments from just the bottom half (where they hung them) to just the top half of the tree thanks to a touchy-feely toddler, so the bottom half of the tree is now naked. Anyway, you have a beautiful home!
Katie says
Bahaha! I fully expected the same here. Life with boys right!? I was legitimately shocked that our tree wasn’t falling over or deconstructed daily by my little munchkins 🙂 We should have a blogger-with-boys playdate sometime!

OK, I need to know where you got the little gnomes. OMG they are adorable and a must have to my Christmas decor.
