Hey guys! What a doozy last night was! It was my first all-nighter in a long time and I can’t wait to share all about it. But until I do…I want you to come yurt camping with us 🙂
Back in April we went to Sweetwater Creek State Park and stayed in a yurt for two nights and it was amazing. Absolutely one of the best camping trips ever. Sure LJ decided on the last day to get sick (no video of that! you can thank me later!) but in general it was a full weekend of hiking, fishing, boating and s’more-ing 🙂 I pulled all our snippets of our adventures together and put them in this little video and I hope you like it as much as I do. It’s guaranteed to make you crave a marshmallow!
OH and if you didn’t already – go ahead and click SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel so that you never miss a thing! Thanks y’all and have an amazing weekend!

Katie, I loved it! But oh, how it pulled my heartstrings and made me miss those ages with my boys. All the dirt, all the effort, all the sticky, all the laundry, all the hard work – it’s worth it. ❤️

I love the sippy cup retrieval! Ha!

You made this look so fun! We have a yurt booked at cloudland state park in November and now I’m actually excited!

What a great camping experience! Watching this brought back memories of tent camping for many years with my family; we had such fun! Thanks for sharing!

So fun!
Did you shoot all of that video from your phone?
Katie says
Katie, was this taken with your Mark II? The video turned out so awesome!
Kathryn says
Such a sweet video. What a special thing to have to remember this wonderful time in your life. Beautiful family!

Such a precious video! It reminds me of the old 50’s reel cameras with the footage spliced together as they started/stopped the film. A true heirloom for your boys forever! Also — genius to go yurt camping with small kids! Minimizing set-up makes it a much more relaxing trip! We should do that with our 3 kiddos — we tried tent camping 2 of our 4 nights traveling through South Dakota last summer, and the tent nights were miserable with all 3! The boys were too excited to stop giggling, the baby was terrified of being in the tent (even in her pack & play), and anytime anyone moved and sleeping bags made their silky rubbing noise, the baby woke up and screamed, thus waking up the surrounding campers. We vowed to give up for a few years until our daughter is at least 3-4 (much to my Eagle Scout husband’s dismay)!

Great video, looks like a lot of fun!!! I have never heard of a Yurt before, but now I think I need to see if they have them here in AZ!

This is such a great way to document a vacation. Tell me though, did you just use your DSLR for video or did you have something else that made it easier and more compact?
Florence says
Great video! your boys are just so sweet. Could you share some information or perhaps a tutorial on how you make these videos? I would love to know what you use to record et. Thanks so much for considering!

That was awesome, really makes me want to make this a priority to try soon with our kids. What camera did you use to film this? I’m am looking for one that isn’t too hard to take around with us on these kind of adventures.

What fun! I wish my kids were little again 😉

I have NEVER desired to go yurt camping for vacation but this video made me feel like our little ones are missing out on great family memories if we don’t 🙂
Katie says
It’s a combination of our iPhones and my Canon 70D…you can do it with just a phone though 🙂

This video is just beautiful! I am amazed at how much video you two captured while keeping track of four littles. Could you share some tips for capturing video with kiddos, especially while traveling?
Katie says
I’d love to do a post all about it!

Krista says
Love the video! I saw your bumbo and pack and plays, but any other must haves for camping with littles? Anything you do without? Working on my registry! 🙂 thanks!
Katie says
Other regular baby supplies that can double as useful for camping? I would definitely say that the bumbo and the pack n play – but you will also need a carrier so that hiking is possible. You might also want to get sippy cups or bottles that have clips to hang on bags and play blankets (or waterproof blankets for laying on the ground).

Love this video!! Wht a fun way to document your trip. We have been camping so many times this summer and I would love to start making videos like this of my two little ones. They grow too fast! What software do you use to make the videos?
Katie says
Just iMovie. It’s what is on my computer so I go with it 🙂
