Unless you are shopping for your wife and you are just so ridiculously thoughtful. In that case, slow claps to you my friend.
Today I am here to share with you some of my current favorites when it comes to the ever-elusive nursing friendly dress. As someone who has spent roughly four years of her life with a baby on the boob, you can understand that finding a dress every Sunday morning for church and for any casual dressy function is stressful. And seeing as how church is one of the few times that I actually see REAL people and speak REAL words and have only a 2% chance of getting yogurt in my hair, it is so nice to have REAL clothes on…..because yes, yoga pants and a stained tank top don’t count as real. They are imaginary. Or default.
SOooo…on Instagram (I am @bowerpowerblog – follow me! #shamelessplug) I share some of my Sunday get-ups and so many moms lamented that they struggled with finding breastfeeding friendly dresses. So here is my best tips – find something with a stretchy neck, go with a shirtdress or shop for a wrap style!
I did a little of the leg work and scoured countless online sites to find some of my favorites when it comes to nursing friendly frocks…..here are my current loves….click on the picture to shop!
oh and it should go without saying that each one of these is good for anyone out there that is just looking for a pretty dress too. I mean, you can keep the girls in the dress too if you want 🙂

Next up could you do bathing suits that are nursing friendly?

I have a 3 month old, and while I haven’t found any dresses that are nursing friendly unless I use a cover up, I have found several shirts that are. Found a couple of spilt back/side or tulip hemed shirts from gap/old Navy and some rib knit swing tanks from target. All were cheap, and as I said, can nurse modestly without a cover up!

Although I’m not a momma (yet), kudos to you for putting this together… and PLEASE tell us about that jacket in the top pic!

Every single picture/link is an Rstyle link. Shouldn’t you disclose that since you get a commission if someone uses your link?! It’s shady not to include a disclosure.

Great minds think alike! I totally scored that cute stripy dress last week when shopping for my older girls! Love it – it’s been great for breastfeeding my lil’ baby cakes!

It actually does say that in my disclosure and disclaimer page which is linked to on all pages. That is the normal and approved practice for all for-profit blogs so no shady business here. All links can be affiliate. And I only get a commission of someone purchases so I am not paid per click. Hope this clears it up for you!

Great info! I found these and love them. (Although they might be too hot in your neck of the woods.) http://www.target.com/p/women-s-kimono-maxi-dress-mossimo-supply-co/-/A-50455724

Clothes aside, I admire you for breast feeding. I did all four of my kids, including twin boys and highly recommend it. in many ways, I felt that it was more convenient – all we had to do to go somewhere was grab the baby (or babies) and leave. With diapers of course! But no formula, bottles, etc. So, keep going! My boys breastfed until a year old; the girls were 18 months or so.

Not a nursing mom (out that business!), but I’ve been eyeing that striped old navy dress for a bit. I do disagree on wrap dresses/ tops as nursing friendly. My then 1yo once undressed me without my noticing during a dentist appointment. My teeth are “up here”!

Bahahahah! I guess that one was TOO nursing friendly 🙂

Hey Katie!
You’re so beautiful. I love your style and I agree on all of these picks! Random question…have you ever sleep trained your babies? My 1 year old daughter sleeps with us and nurses ALL NIGHT LONG. I need more sleep so we want her to sleep in her crib. Any tips at all? Did you do that with any of your kiddos? Thanks!
Katie says
Aww thank you Melissa. Well, I think there are lots of different ways and only you can know what is right for you and your little one. You can read about the various methods here. We have done it different every time because our kids are all different 🙂 My pediatrician told me that the right way to sleep train is the way that you are diligent in and can stick to. Know yourself is basically what she said 🙂 I know this is completely not helpful but I hope you get more sleep in the future!
