This is just stuff I purchased lately. Nothing too rocket scientific about this post. Just randoms because I am random.
Unless otherwise stated – I linked the photos – so you can check out the products by clicking the photos….hope that helps!
This rug for the baby boy’s room. We are attempting to transition Maxi Knight out of our bed. And when I say attempting….I mean failing 🙂 Little nugget always finds his way back in there. And he is a king bed HOG. My hope is that if I finish his room…it will be like baby catnip….he will not be able to resist! Here is the original plan for the ‘nursery’ but obviously I deviated with this rug purchase. I often do that. I am a rabbit and I have a trail to blaze.
Some of the other moms at the fields have total baseball outfits….and I LOVE IT. Like I ask them constantly where to get stuff because we don’t get our team shirts until the season is almost over. So in the spirit of my little ball player I needed to get on that band wagon and pick up some fan wear. Also – Will is getting nominated for All-Stars! Which means two things…he will get to keep playing ball even when the regular season is over (I am not complaining because that means I get to watch him swing, run and slide even more and watching your kid do ANYTHING that they really love is so fun!) and secondly – new uniforms. Which translates into even more flair for me 🙂
I also ordered some baseball tape because LOOK AT HOW AMAZING IT IS. Seriously when the UPS guy comes to my door I am gonna hand him the box and he is gonna be like “YOU ARE A BALLER.” and then I will die a happy woman.
I ordered that arrow pillow. It was $3. And now I see that the price is back up to $5….which is sad because it really is out of most people’s budget now. SIKE. IT”S A FREAKING FIVE DOLLAR PILLOW! And the other ones I showed are too! I mean seriously….that’s the same price as a sno-cone at the ball fields. Both bring you extreme comfort but only one sticks around when things get hot 🙂
I have ordered four different cover ups in the past three weeks. This one is the only one I received so far and I think I could even wear it as a shirt over a tank and jeans! I might be excited about my mom’s pool…a large body of warmish water sounds pretty amazing right now. I just need to conquer my fear of the bathing suit 🙁
As you know, we went to Jekyll Island for spring break (our travel journal coming next week!) and on the way we stopped at the outlets. I got some of the CUTEST stuff. I am borderline obsessed with these pull-on shorts…like in a very “I WILL STALK YOU” kinda way. They are super comfortable and the perfect transition from OH I WAS PREGNANT FOR THE LAST SIX YEARS and OH I KINDA NEED TO CHECK MYSELF WHEN IT COMES TO SUGAR to WAIT I STILL NEED TO WEAR CLOTHING THAT IS SEMIDECENT FOR YOU KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE EYES.
My current goal is to buy things that will grow…err no SHRINK…with me as I start trying to figure out how to reclaim my personal body goals. I don’t want to be back to what I was size wise….I just want to be in a healthy place. And having shorts that have elastic bands will help me feel comfortable! Also – long tunics are my jam.
Also weirdest thing….but also slightly awesome….my feet have grown a size. I used to be a size seven and then somewhere between Weston and Max, my feet are now a legit size eight and up. Boots I need a full 8.5 for comfort. I don’t fit in 90% of the shoes I once wore! So OH DARN…new shoes are in my future 🙂 I thought it was just swelling and I would be able to get my other shoes back on at some point but now I am realizing that it’s just not gonna happen and I need more shopping 🙂 I bought a pair of Crocs….which these Sexi Flips are seriously the best things ever for the beach and are quite possibly my new favorite shoes (I let my mom borrow them and she has TERRIBLE feet and she has now requested a pair for herself because she said “they are like wearing nothing”….and a pair of fringe ones because I had a gift card. You can click on the links for more details. Isn’t that the weirdest and most awesome thing? I only mind a teensy tiny bit because a couple pairs of my old shoes are pretty fantastic. Like my JCrew riding boots….yeah….that’s makes me sad. I guess I will just have to dry my tears with ALL MY NEW SHOES 🙂
Also – this is a reminder – if you don’t follow us on Instagram – you really should. I am @bowerpowerblog and right now I am giving away a beach vacation on behalf of Jekyll Island. Go there now! Run! Hurry!
Lastly, make sure you sign up for the Bower Power email newsletter (it’s the pop up ad on the blog). Do that because I will be giving away freebies like printables, sneak peeks to future posts and behind the scenes pictures and info! That’s it for now folks! Happy Fri-yay!

please do tell.

Totally just bought those sandals (the crocs). I’m headed to Universal next weekend and am so afraid it’s going to rain and my Toms get ruined. Hopefully these are comfy enough to walk around in all day! Thanks for sharing!

For post-mama belly you should check out Olivia Cagle from Fitabulous Moms. I’m doing her Diastasis Bootcamp right now and even without consistently doing the workouts I’ve seen a huge difference in my belly. Hubby even commented on it last week completely out of nowhere (I’m on the 3rd week). While the main focus is on healing diastasis, she works everything, and she is just so good and real, which can be a hard combo to find.

Hmm, I follow you on Instagram and don’t see a Beach Vacation GIveaway, thought that would be awesome. Just the Beach tote with shovels giveaway.

So my feet went up size somewhere with kids 3 and 4 and stayed that way for a couple years, and then they went back down to my original size! No idea how common that is, but just in case, might want to hang on to some favorites 🙂

Dang you! I already own the arrow and octopus pillows. I clicked on the quattra foil one, and found a bunch of other cute ones and now have 6 different pillows headed my way (total $29.97!!). We have a new to us L-shape couch and had nothing to dress it up with until I found the arrow and octopus pillows. It’s going to be pillow-couch-comfort-heaven!

It’s there now. But wasn’t at first, must have been a timing issue with when both went up.

You should look into having your shoes stretched.
Katie says
Most of them are probably not worth the cost 🙁

Look around the internet for info on stretching shoes. Basically “shoe stretch” is mostly rubbing alcohol (but look that up, I’m going off memory here), wet your socks with it and put on your too small shoes and walk around in them. Can also try running a hair dryer over your shoes (with feet in them) to help the leather ease. I’ve also heard good things about jamming a peeled potato into your shoe tight spots and leaving over night.
I’m personally offended by tight shoes (well, at least my feet are). If my feet aren’t happy the rest of me isn’t either.
That brown tunic; darling! How does it look on a real person (I’m not counting size two models here)? Alas, it only fits sizes S to M… And may need to look into those leopard flipz.
PS a footnote about shoes again (#seewhatididthere), I always waterproof every new pair to protect them from rain.

Oh I see!! Thanks!

So those amazing shorts….do you like the length? Looked on the J. Crew Factory website and saw they also have them in longer lengths. The struggle to find cute shorts that aren’t “hi-nice-to-meet-you-and-here’s-my-butt” but also aren’t “hi-nice-to-meet-you-I-put-on-my-mom’s-shorts-this-morning” is REAL! Youngest babe is 8 months so I am in the same boat of wanting some cute summer clothes that can fit the post baby bod.

My feet grew one size as well during pregnancy and stayed like that for a good couple of months. Six months later I found my old shoes to fit again though, so maybe hold on to your dearest pairs and check if that happens for you as well. Love your style!

Nice products, love that braided rug!!

You might want to mention that they are pillow covers only. No inserts included.

yes, mine grew 1/2-1 size. I finally got them back down to my old size and I got pregnant again.

It is definitely thin so it requires an undershirt or tank but it is very VERY light and it is flowy….I ordered a Medium and it did run a little loose (closer to a large) but that’s okay with me 🙂 and yes – those leopard are my everything right now 🙂

So normally I wear only a 5 inch inseam unless my shorts are fairly loose and the cut needs to be perfect for me to sag a little and wear a 3 or 4″ inseam. These are just that…they have the elastic so I can put them on my preferred low-rise spot (instead of the designers!) and they are flared enough to flatter. Plus super comfy.

Thanks for the heads up on the pillow covers!! My husband and I just bought our first house (woo-hoo!!) and I’m on a tight home decor budget! Would love more posts like these!

I love that you purchased that braided rug for the nursery. This is the same rug I am planning to buy for my second baby boy’s nursery. Does it seem like good quality? My husband vetoed it because we have two dogs who have been known to destroy woven rugs with their nails :(. Technically, they aren’t even allowed in the boys rooms, but sometimes they sneak in. I am willing to take the risk because I love the rug but my husband is not convinced.

Thanks for the tips! I order 6 adorable pillow covers for about $25 and am so excited about them. I already received one of them and it is so cute in person!

Perfect! Might just have to snag a pair to try with my new thredup top I just ordered (p.s. many high five and smooch emojis for the thredup introduction…love!)

Random question — how would you say the shorts run? Large/small? True? They look PERFECT for summer!
Katie says
I would say just a smidge large. I tend to carry my weight in my legs, thighs, butt and my waist is on the bigger side (it just hasn’t gotten back to normal after the babies) so it fits me well because of the looser butt and leg room. I normally wear an 8 in jeans (they will be tighter) and these I got in 10 and they are loose but very comfortable and flattering. Hope this helps!

So upon your suggestion I bought two pairs of those jcrew Boardwalk shirts! They are awesome! Going to be my fave shorts this summer for sure. I’m fighting the urge to my more pairs!!!!
Katie says
Aren’t they super comfy?! I love the fact that they are basically stretchy shorts with cute fabric so they LOOK nice while really being lounge shorts in disguise!

I have no kids and my feet have gone from a 6 (I’m even shorter than your girl, Sherry), to 6.5, to 7 and now I’m even buying a 7.5 in all my flats! I hate to tell you, but it started in my early 30’s… I fear it’s an age thing! They can’t get much bigger or I’m going to look really funny being about 5′ tall with big feet! 🙂
