Hey guys! Just popping in with a quick announcement!
You know those Home Depot DIY workshops? They actually have three different types…..one for Kids, one for us ladies (Do-It-Herself) and one general DIY one (Do-It-Yourself) – and Home Depot stores host these workshops at each of their locations to teach folks how to build decor projects, how to tackle easy home repairs, and how to operate tools safely. They have demonstrations and hands-on time and you can learn how to hone those DIY skills no matter your age or experience level.
Well, last year my friend and fellow blogger Jen Woodhouse of the blog House of Wood hosted her local workshops in person and many of you got to meet her and learn from her. Who knew so much DIY power could live in such a teeny tiny body with great hair, right?! Well, this year she told me that Home Depot was hosting an online version of their DIY workshop and asked me if I would help spread the word by joining her in an epic….life-changing….and possibly legendary virtual party. Of course….I accepted her challenge.
(by the way – it’s not a challenge)
She told me that we were gonna be making our own doormat of wood and rope and putting our own spin on it and the winner would get ONE BAZILLION DOLLARS. (that’s also not true)
I had to join in because the title of BEST DOORMAT MAKER IN ALL THE LAND (no titles will be awarded) is basically my life’s dream. The money is not important. (again – no money will be awarded)
And when I win this epic title and all the money and Jen Woodhouse’s great hair – I will die a happy DIY woman. (Please note that the winner gets nothing…in fact, there is no winner. And if you approach me at any time with anything that sounds like a challenge, I will immediately accept and then flip the script by challenging you to a Cheeto eating contest in which I will definitely win.)
This is what daylight savings time does to my brain people. I lose it. Back to business.
The point is – we five gals will be building our own version of the Home Depot doormat.
- Jen, House of Wood
- Rachel, Shades of Blue Interiors
- Aniko, Place of My Taste
- Chelsea, Making Home Base
- Katie, Bower Power Blog
And next week, we’ll each be sharing our customized versions of this project and we’d love for you to join in the fun and make your own!
I even made a doormat inspiration board with four different items that inspire me….because yes, I will win this 🙂
