Holiday Photo Session with the Bowers

As you saw yesterday, our Christmas pictures are DONE!

(By the way….thank you so very much to everyone who told us that they were sending their cards our way….I am giddy like an tooth fairy at the dental office!)

It all began with a little sweater I found at Goodwill.  Weston has it on.  I love how timeless it is and how the creamy color makes his skin GLOW like radioactive snow.  That’s a thing.  And so then I gathered up all the other sweaters so that we could do the whole “matching” but not with white button-downs and khaki’s thing.  No judgement here if you do that.  Heaven knows I have a couple of those.

We gathered together in front of our Monroe house barn (there is a barn out back on the property and we are all obsessed with it) with our tripod, a couple grandparents behind the camera making silly noises and a remote control.  And here was our best one….

I also talked every single one of the Bower boys into a mini picture session.  It’s been way.too.long.  My camera and I are so out of practice but I kinda love all these final ones.

And just in case you imagined that it was a piece of cake to get everyone to look at the camera….

I was setting up the focus.  The candy cane was supposed to be a face.  The problem was, I set the focus, turned it on Manual, and then Jeremy (my focus marker) would run after a kid….so then we would set up and everyone would be soft.  I am still trying to figure out how to do it the best way.

I also talked Jeremy into posing for a couple with me.  We have only a few of us…just us….and dear lord, I love this man.

 

We have two really viable options for our Christmas card this year….the first one and then this one…

You’ve seen what we picked for the card but you’ll have to wait to see what we do with these!

  12. I love your pictures! I just about died when I saw your Christmas cards and saw Wesson’s sweater. I have the same one for my son and he had just worn it for a Christmas party the night before 🙂 I love it and got so many compliments.

  15. The brand is Bowen & Wright. My sister picked it up at a little boutique in Boston before my son was even born.

  17. Great photos! Weston’s smile is the best! Why did you Photoshop your belly/waist in the first photo? I hope it’s because you’re announcing a pregnancy and not because of vanity.

  22. I didn’t photoshop my belly at all…in any photo. As evidenced in the ones where I look like a spare tire shop. And no….I’m not pregnant. Not even close. I think it’s a cardinal rule among gals to never assume someone is preggo based on their fatness level…just sayin. Some pics I am posing/sucking it in better than others, I guess.

  25. Oh my gosh. I seriously love all of your boys, they are utterly adorable, every one of them, including Jeremy! But Weston! He just kills me! He is just too much adorable in a tiny little, spitfire of a boy! Thank you for sharing your pictures and your life with us all out here in internetland.

  26. I think the people with the pregnant comments just want more sweet and adorable Bower babies.You definitely do not look pregnant or at all fat! This childless lady would kill for your figure! You and your family are simply beautiful!

  27. I think she’s saying it because the area between your right arm and waist/torso look heavily shopped. You defo do not look fat, not even close.

  28. I just don’t see it! I zoomed in on my computer copies to see if I could spot the weirdness and nope! My forearm does look a little big but I have muscle-y arms for my rather shmooshy body so maybe that is what people are saying?! I just know that it really did hurt my feelings. I definitely have baby weight to lose but I can see why it’s hard for moms in general – these kids don’t give anyone a rest! I will say that these photos are run through photoshop but only to sharpen, lighten and remove the graffiti that was on the barn on Jeremy’s side but next time I will go ahead and put JLo’s body on my head 🙂

  31. i had to come back here and just see what you were talking about – people accusing you of photoshopping your christmas cards. here are my observations:

    1. I can’t see a darn thing about your pictures that look even REMOTELY photoshopped.
    2. You look BEAUTIFUL in these pictures, and awesome for having a young child (and being unknowingly pregnant!!)
    3. HATERS GUNNA HATE!

    Man… some catty, bitchy women. Just can’t keep their mouths closed. But would thye have ever said it in real life? Probably not! The internet seriously makes some people think everyone wants to hear their comments.

    Sorry you have to hear that and had to address it when announced your pregnancy. I would probably feel the same way as you did. I wish those “readers/fans” would just leave you alone and stop reading if they’re gunna hate!

    CONGRATS! 🙂 How close will LJ and #4 be together? My 2nd shares a very close bday with Weston, so we were pregnant around the same time. Mine are only 14 mo apart and they are the sweetest ever together!! LOOOOOVE love love it!

  33. That is pretty rude to accuse somebody of photoshopping their stomach and calling them vain. I sure hope nobody ever does that to you.

    Just re-read the Christmas card post to see what all the fuss is about??? All I can see in the pictures is a beautiful family full of joy and love for each other. I cannot believe people can be so rude or thoughtless! I am truly delighted to hear your wonderful baby news and wish you a safe and stress free pregnancy.

  35. Ha I did the same thing! Check to see what all the fuss was about. And now that you (Katie) can reflect back and know you were prego here, ok sure maybe you can see it. But before knowing that, I would have *never* thought you were. You look amazeballs 🙂 Congratulations Bower Family!!! Your boys are adorable and I’m sending you ‘girl vibes’ because that would just be too precious!! Baby Girl Bower with three big brothers?! Lol best of health to you 🙂
