If this is your first time here, greetings earthling! This is everything you need to know about the Bower Build Off. It’s a friendly competition between a husband and a wife (Jeremy and I to be more specific) in order to decide who has the best DIY idea. We each get to set a single parameter and then have to work within those boundaries. All the projects have to be useful to our family and we do assist the other person in the projects….but the idea is all our own. Then we post the project results and let the people (that would be you!) decide who wins in this face to face duel.

For this edition, we set two parameters – it has to be on a wall and it has to be a different blog’s knock-off. Here is our awkward announcement video…
Our projects this time around were MUCH bigger than the first build-off. Here are the results (what you voted on)….
After all nine thousand something votes were counted (and recounted for fairness reasons), we finally had our winner….
So the question is….WHO BUILT WHAT?!
Well, folks I am very happy to announce that I am the builder of the Board & Batton wall and Jeremy built the mantel. CAN YOU IMAGINE MY FACE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE IT LOOKS SOMETHING LIKE A VERY EXCITED DOG WHO IS ABOUT TO GET A FILET MIGNON! DROOL, TAIL WAG AND EVERYTHING.

Seriously though….seriously. I am really the winner on four accounts…. 1. because you said I was the winner. b. because I got a brand new spankalicious mantel 3. because the accent wall in the guest room is gorgeous and lastly….because I have a husband that puts up with me doing my victory dance all over the house. And nobody wants to see me dance. Trust me on that one.
So I appreciate everyone who voted! And the best part is yet to come – tutorials on how we built these amazing projects! That will be this week! Hollah for your baller!

Forgive me if there has already been a how-to on the mantel, but if not, will there be a how-to? We are going to be doing a similar project soon and need all the instructions we can get! (Personally, I voted for your wall, but I realize that I need to know more about the mantel.)

I do not want another baby. I DO NOT want another baby. I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER BABY!!! But that kid is making my ovaries ache! You both get a prize for all those gorgeous boys 🙂 And congratulations, Katie! I must admit I liked yours a little bit better, but mainly because we have nowhere that we could make a mantel look good in our house. Lucky you!!

I voted for the mantel because I was thinking how tough that was. And I thought it was beautiful. I’ve seen so much board and batten tutorials I knew it wasn’t that hard. But congratulations Katie. All’s fair in love and competition. :)And of course the guy comes up with the trophy idea. Genius. You both just might win the award for happiest and cutest baby. Adorbs!
Gotta say, voted for you, because it makes such an impact. Didn’t realize what a bear the mantel was to build. Awesome, nonetheless. Of course, LJ stole the show- so darn squeezable!! Now , I want to see the stockings!!
Yes! I plan on doing a Christmas decorations post sooner than later and it’ll be in there 🙂

I knew (when voting) that mantle was Jeremy’s idea ONLY because I was like – no way Katie was thinking about drilling/hanging on brick. The board and batten looks SO awesome, but I know is relatively easy to accomplish. I voted for Katie’s because the effect was so much stronger, but I felt bad because I knew Jeremy’s was probably way more difficult!
LOVE THAT VIDEO!! You and Jeremy are so adorable together…I can see now why those boys are always smiling in all their pictures!! So much love and happiness!

Would you ever consider doing a video tour of your house? That would be so fun to see not just the different rooms but also more of the layout and flow!
