Since Halloween is just a few more days away, we decided to whip out a little blast from the past! And yes, I died laughing when I saw Sherry dressed up like a ‘wolf’ and the creepy hair one. Who knew Sher had such an odd experience with costumes?! #thisexplainsalot.
No but seriously…we are both thrilled to announce that the Pinterest Challenge is back! Time to get your frightfully full Pinterest boards to work! Let’s challenge ourselves to git-er-done!
For you new folks, the Pinterest Challenge is uber easy. Like falling down when body-bumped-by-a-pregnant-girl-easy. Basically you take something you pinned on Pinterest and do your own version. You only have seven days to get it done…so if it’s a 1970’s Halloween costume, you’ll be done in just the knick of time to get some candy for your hippies (sorry, the cheesiness just flows so naturally from my pores).
In one week, we will all come back here to share and rub our awesomeness in Pinterest’s face. In other words, we will host a linky party and everyone can visit your blog or gallery. Also, we encourage excessive compliments….and more pinning. It’s like the song that never ends. it goes on and on my friends.
And just like in challenges of yester-season, we have two amazing (and freakishly goodlooking) gals to co-host with us. I am very excited to share with you two of the sweetest and stylish girls on the interwebs. First up is Sarah from Ugly Duckling House. If you aren’t one of her 2.9 million followers on Pinterest….well, you should be. The thing I love most about her (besides the fact that we share Atlanta as home) is that she’s tackling her home on her own. Total girl power. And then there is Selma Hayak’s daughter Carmel. She’s not really Selma’s kid but seriously…she should be. She has this unbelievable gorgeous home….and if you aren’t following along with her blog Our Fifth House, well, you are missing out. They are taking on this challenge with us and I am so excited to see what they tackle.
I would absolutely love it if you joined us too! Here’s some general tips to help ya when you reveal your final projects:
- The project inspiration needs also to be linked up to…but not only to the pinterest item – but also to the original source (whether that be a store like Pottery Barn or a blog or a website) Let’s make sure to give credit where credit is due, y’all!
- Remember that no project is too small or too big.
- Projects have no limits….cooking, sewing, crafting, DIY, home stuff, I might be revealing a baby if he comes early….anything goes
- If you want to post about your own Pinterest Challenge projects on your own blog – it would be super nice to have you include the Pinterest Challenge Banner and link back to our project posts too! Links give us a chance to meet new friends and become one big happy internet family
- Oh and Pinterest doesn’t know about this challenge (or endorse, sponsor, etc.) – if I had a sneezing fit, they would not let me borrow their dry pants in order to avoid embarrassment.
See you guys in a week!
p.s. Some folks were asking about how we pick our co-hosts, and it goes a little something like this: I go through the linked up projects and find two folks that played along in the past challenges. It’s not based on their final projects…more that they tried and then blogged about their success/failure in an inspiring/get-er-done kinda way…then we ask really nicely while having our fingers crossed that they will associate with a couple of weirdos who have a soft spot for word bubbles 🙂
Woohoo – so excited! You crack me up – Selma’s daughter – you’re too kind
At first glance, I thought it was Will dressed as a clown in the old clown photo. He looks just like you when you were little.
Do you have to have a blog to participate in the Pinterest challenge? I don’t have a blog, so if I did a challenge I would have no where to post my pics. Oh well.
That photo of you as a clown looks identical to Will. I bet you will get tons of comments saying the same thing!!
I’m in :), I attempted a summer pinterest challenge with some friends and folks this past summer, and I did great for the 1st part, but then fell off after the summer got busy. But, I had fun while it lasted, so I’ll take a go again 🙂
Now I need dry pants! Laughing fits are worse than sneezing fits any day.
Aww…come on! I’m dying to see that kitchen! I’m afraid you will have that baby and we’ll never get to see it!!
That ballerina picture of you is ADORABLE!!
Yay!! I love Pinterest Challenge!
Woohoo!!!!! Another Pinterest Challenge….Maybe this time I can have it done on time. 😉
The 5 day hiatus had me wondering if the babe had arrived!!
OH MY GOSH. Will looks EXACTLY like you when you were little. How adorable is that! I can’t wait to see what your next little nugget looks like! Will is so cute. xoxo
I’m IN! Can’t wait!! I already have my project picked out, I’m dorkalicious like that.
P.S. If you wanted to hold off having that baby til Nov. 2nd I wouldn’t complain. Then me and your little man can share a bday! 😀
I’m totally excited about the challenge, but my comment has nothing to do with it. That photo of your adorable self that you always use for the Pinterest Challenge posts…is there a larger copy of it anywhere that I could print? Because I NEED that haircut. It is so stinking cute.
Baby ballerina Katie is so sweet! I see a lot of Will in this picture (minus the tutu). Wait, that went somewhere weird. When is the little baby due?
Yay! I was thinking the SAME thing!
Love this Katie. I just told Sherry, that picture of you as french fries reminded me of a “big present” costume my mom made me wear back in 1987. Too funny! Can’t wait for next Tuesday!
I thought the EXACT same thing — spitting image!
Yayyyyyy….can’t wait to get started!!!!
can’t wait to see what you ladies come up with!
and thanks for introducing me to 2 new blogs 🙂
I’m in like Flynn this time ’round!
Nope! You definitely DO NOT have to have a blog. If you want to share your project in the linky party, you can use a photo sharing site like Flickr or Photobucket to make your pics visable to all. As far as co-hosts, we do try to use fellow bloggers simply because then we can share the love with them since we know how much work goes into blogging day in and out…

There is a whole post chalk full of pics! Here is the link.

I thought so, too! Will needs to be a clown, have his picture taken, and those photos need to be framed next to each other!
We all know you just dressed up Will like a clown! 😛
Woohoo! Can’t wait!
This has nothing to do with the Pinterest Challenge – although I aim to truly participate this time (I kinda cheated last time and linked up an old post!!! shh – don’t tell). I just wanted to say that when you wished me Congratulations on my fb page today I nearly died. You made me feel like a princess – and I would say that it was a VERY close second to how happy I felt this past weekend when I got married! Anyway – just wanted to say you absolutely made my day and thank you for your well wishes!!!!!!
I love that idea! I’ll have to check with my mom to see if she still has that old costume…doubtful but worth asking, right?!

Aww – you are so sweet. I try because I know how much it means to me to hear from you all! Congrats on the new Mrs title 🙂

Yay! I think I have just the right project in mind!
You would be surprised at some of the things moms stash away! Sneaky little so-and-so’s! My mom saved my dress from my one year photo’s for my daughter (she knew she’d have a granddaughter eventually). She told me I didn’t have to use it, but I couldn’t resist sharing something like that with my baby girl. Plus, it made my mom super happy, it was a win win. 🙂

Recreating moment in life is a sickness for me, really.

WAHOO!!! love this time of year (Pinterest Challenge AND fall). super pumped.
Can’t wait until next week! These Pinterest Challenges are SO fun!
Okay. Did it. It’s lame. But I did something. I love the idea of these Pinterest Challenges so much! I had the PERFECT project to tackle, but life got in the way this time. . . So, I just sewed a little Halloween bag for my daughter. It’s not much, but it’s something. And- it gave me 45 minutes in my sewing space, used some of my “stash” of fabric, and makes me smile the whole time.
Of course, my camera died this week too, so I can’t even properly show it off. Here’s the instagram link, though.
Thanks for getting me off my patootie (or, in this case, giving me reason to do something small for myself/daughter.)
