Great Giveaway – Barefoot Books

A very sweet representative from Barefoot Books contacted me to see if I would be interested in any of the colorful books for Will.

Hello!  My middle name is “I Heart Freebies” – it’s legal….sortof like OchoCinco…except with better touchdown dances.  So of course without hesitation I said absolutely.

Well, then this package came in the mail:

Will of course was fascinated by taking things out of the bag.

Of  course…

But when we sat down and actually started reading them, I was hooked.  I love the bright colors of the pages and the few words.  It’s tough to read counting books that have a million words when your 18 month old is a champion page turner.

And at the end of the board books are even more educational stuff…like counting pages and picture only pages.  Here’s the Tinkler counting the “balls”.  Of course, he only knows the word ‘two’…so it’s ‘two, two, two”.

But far and wide Will’s favorite thing about the bag was this octopus puppet.  We showed him how to stick his hand in and wiggle the legs…he laughed and laughed.

When the dimple comes out, you know he’s a fan.

So for all of you that have little ones that are Will’s age – here’s what he got…the fun colorful board books and the octopus puppet…

 

And for the music lovers, he got Driving my Tractor and The Animal Boogie – both of which came with sheet music in the back and a sing-along-cd.  Seeing as how I am the most musically challenged person in my family (yes, my mother is a music teacher) this not only hits close to home for me but I appreciate the help 🙂

My favorite was the dreamy lyrical I Took the Moon for a Walk.  I don’t know why but I have a thing for moon themed books.  I also have a thing for rhyming books.  There aren’t a whole lotta rhyming moon books out for adults.  I can’t wait till Will is old enough to read this one with me…aka…sit still enough for that many words on a page 🙂

    I would love to get the Octopus puppet & book “Secret Seahorse” for our baby girl due in December. Her nursery is an Under the Sea theme, so it would tie in perfectly!

It is really hard to choose, but I know I would definitely get the 100 piece puzzle of the world for my 9 year old (he is so facinated with maps and globes right now and the tin box it comes in is so cool), the Port Side Pirate’s book for my 6 year old (he loves anything pirates and the cd that comes with the book sounds really cool), and then Clare Beaton’s Nursery Rhymes and One Moose, 20 Mice for my baby girl!

    Drivin my Tractor is right up my little guy’s alley!! He says “vroom” very well with his older brother’s little tractors. Its so cute, especially since he has been doing it since he was about 9 mo old.

The artwork is fantastic and all done out of craft materials. i think we would need to choose the moon book for this fab give away. Barefoot has an amazing story time at Fao shwartz in nyc and we used to frequent there large selection before we moved…boo! Hope to win this:) if you couldn’t tell!

    My kids love books. We read a few each night at bed time and my son is learning letter sounds, so he’s almost ready to start reading himself. I’d choose the Driving my Tractor, and Animal Boogie for sure!

He loves sittting on my lap and reading stories–and the sillier the sounds and the more rhythm and rhyme the better.     We would definately get the Monster book because we are very much into monsters right now. Our favorite activity lately is having the kids design their own monsters in which I sew up for them. I really like watching how they make decisions and how hard they work on their designs and fabric choices. They love their new monsters and give them funny names!

    I’m barefoot almost every day – I hate shoes and socks are just too hot! If we could live in a barefoot world (feet-washing requried, of course!), it would be GREAT!

    My nephew, Nathan, would absolutely LOVE the “Kids Kitchen” book. In fact, his parents just bought him a kitchen set to play with…or enhance his culinary skills. At almost 2 years old, he immediately placed the dishes in the grown-up dishwasher. Priceless 🙂

    I’m preggo with my first, so we’re just starting our children’s book library. And we’re not sure if it’s a girl or a boy yet, so I’d probably pick I took the Moon for a Walk, because I think either a boy or girl would like it, and we’re going to name the baby after my grandmother’s side of the family. She’s 92, and may not be with us much longer, but she has a very special relationship with the moon… always has!

    My “niece” Berkeley is actually my best friend’s daughter. They just moved about 3 hours away and I would love to send her “There’s a Cow in the Cabbage Patch” in a little care package for her. When they lived in town I was always picking up this or that for her mom to take home to her. I don’t get the chance to spoil her as much as I would like to now that they’re farther away!

    I would get books for my tots. Ike (9 mo.) is starting to be intrigued by the bright colors of the books his older sisters (4 and 2) are reading. Elizabeth (4yrs.) could sit and listen to books all day if we had time (and sometimes we make time), and Miriam (2yrs) loves to sit on her bed and flip through pages.

    Its a toss up, I would get “I Took the Moon for a Walk” or “Driving My Tractor” because my son is fascinated with how the moon “follows” us where ever we go at night. He has always said he would go to the moon when he gets bigger than the sky 🙂 and his favorite thing to do with his recently passed Pop Pop was to drive the tractors around the farm.
