A very sweet representative from Barefoot Books contacted me to see if I would be interested in any of the colorful books for Will.
Hello! My middle name is “I Heart Freebies” – it’s legal….sortof like OchoCinco…except with better touchdown dances. So of course without hesitation I said absolutely.
Well, then this package came in the mail:
Will of course was fascinated by taking things out of the bag.
Of course…
But when we sat down and actually started reading them, I was hooked. I love the bright colors of the pages and the few words. It’s tough to read counting books that have a million words when your 18 month old is a champion page turner.
And at the end of the board books are even more educational stuff…like counting pages and picture only pages. Here’s the Tinkler counting the “balls”. Of course, he only knows the word ‘two’…so it’s ‘two, two, two”.
But far and wide Will’s favorite thing about the bag was this octopus puppet. We showed him how to stick his hand in and wiggle the legs…he laughed and laughed.
When the dimple comes out, you know he’s a fan.
So for all of you that have little ones that are Will’s age – here’s what he got…the fun colorful board books and the octopus puppet…
And for the music lovers, he got Driving my Tractor and The Animal Boogie – both of which came with sheet music in the back and a sing-along-cd. Seeing as how I am the most musically challenged person in my family (yes, my mother is a music teacher) this not only hits close to home for me but I appreciate the help 🙂
My favorite was the dreamy lyrical I Took the Moon for a Walk. I don’t know why but I have a thing for moon themed books. I also have a thing for rhyming books. There aren’t a whole lotta rhyming moon books out for adults. I can’t wait till Will is old enough to read this one with me…aka…sit still enough for that many words on a page 🙂
But do you want to hear the best part of this package? Well, after my raving review in the email back to the Barefoot Books rep, they decided they would like to provide another prize just for you! Everybody give me some spirit fingers!
So if I were you and you were me and we won this prize…what would I…err…you get? Here’s our list:
Yoga Planet – because it sounds fun…and yoga does a body good. And I Wish I Were a Pilot…because Will has a fascination with anything that contains an engine. And Kid’s Kitchen. Will likes to cook and I am trying to train him to make us dinner. This could help.
I also think that the Barefoot Book of Monsters would be fun for my 7 year old nephew Cole. Not too girly and perfect for the upcoming holiday (bonus: doesn’t rot your teeth or cause sugar highs!). The elephant puppet is uber cool. Did you know that elephant is the only animal noise that Will makes? Yeah. What a showoff. And Bear on a Bike sounds like it is just up our wheely lovin’ alley.
The point is – there are ton of books and joyful stuff. And the $50 prize can get you a ton of fun at Barefoot Books. And there’s more….20% off your first online order by using the code WELCOME – so even if you can’t wait for the winner to be announced – you can still score a discount.
Here’s how you can win:

All of their books are wonderful! My son is about to turn 3 and would love the books “If your Happy and You Know it” and “The Farmyard Jamboree” as he loves singing!

I would love the kid’s kitchen for my daughter. Well she’s not making an appearance till about Christmas time but I think it would be a fun book to have once she’s older to read 🙂

I already loved the book, “I Took the Moon for a Walk.” One of the benefits of working in the library is that I get to see all the lovely new picture books even though I don’t have children. If I won, I would hog all the books to myself! 🙂

Imagine me Barefoot! I love the fabric friends books, so I would get that gift bag and spread the love as Christmas gifts.

I think the Counting Cockatoos and the Monsters book you posted are too cute and I’m sure my 2 year old daughter would be in love. These folks might have just won themselves some business. 🙂

Imagine me barefoot….and not running, this time. I love a good outdoor barefoot run.
I would totally pick I took the Moon for a Walk! I LOVE moons and want to wallpaper my sons room in every image ripped from various moon books. I don’t think he’d get it. But a girl can dream!

Oh, the possibilities! I think I’m going to pick up the ABC’s and 123’s Gift Set, the Octopus puppet (so freaking cute), “I Wish I Were a Pilot”, “I Spy the Sun in the Sky” and “Listen, Listen” for my 5 month old twin boys. I cannot wait until they’re old enough for storybooks!

I would buy “Hidden Hippo” for our 1-year-old daughter, Lucy, because we lovingly call her Lucypotamus. I would buy “I Spy the Sun in the Sky” for her twin brother, Sam, because we call him Sammy Sundrop.

I’m confused. I clicked on the link for the winners, but I only see the winners of the Attiser giveaway.

I love the kind’s kitchen. But since my son is only 3 months – I would most likely go with the counting books.
