Great Giveaway – Super Scentsy

The title of this post should be Little House Updates and My Favorite Giveaway yet. 

This all started with my very bad attitude about our house.  You  may remember I was complaining about our house smell.  That faint odor that lingered in our abode that reminded me that this was still not home.  It was like a picture of Britney with a ponytail….all of a sudden you remember she has a weave.  and that when she had a GIJane moment, she shaved her head balder than a Georgia peach.  Bless her little soul.  We would walk in the door after being away for a bit and the smell of someone else would hit us…not like a pass&gas or a drive past a chicken farm….it wasn’t awful…just subtle…and different…and very much not us.  

Well with all that talk of aromas, a very sweet Jennie Jensen contacted me to see if I would like to do a product review and a giveaway.  Before she even said what she was promoting, I was all like UMYES!  On a very serious note, I have an issue with getting free stuff.  My issue is I LOVE IT.  I am not ashamed.  Free stuff just rocks my world.  Okay…back to the point.  Jennie is a consultant for Scentsy.  Never heard of them?  Well, my friends you are missing out.  I must confess I didn’t think much of this…until I got the box of amazingness she sent.  I am literally going to be a fan for life.

First of all, Scentsy is known for selling warmers and wax.  Wax made from the streets of heavenly gold.  If smell-good wax was a person, Scentsy basically sells Jesus himself – it is that awesome.  And this is coming from the girl that has to swerve around the candle section at most stores because the smells make me want to choke up last nights taquitos.  Not a joke.  I can taste that icky wad of prevomit chum in the back of my throat and need a drink of water just thinking about it.  So when I opened the box of Scentsy stuff, I expected my gag reflex to go into overdrive.

It was completely different than what I expected.  I loved every single one of the scents that Jennie so generously sent our way. 

I was like a pageant girl at Tiffanys.  Make that ten pageant girls.  There were more oohs and aahs out of me that even Jeremy said that maybe I needed to sit down.  and take some medication. 

And the warmers?  So cute.  She sent this one that I immediately decided needed to go in our kitchen.   

I love the texture.  And the fact that I don’t need to dig around for matches?  Fahgetaboutit.

As my guinnea pig of smells, I went with Sunkissed Citrus….mostly because the boyfriend loves citrusy smells when in the kitchen.  Which is a far cry from the way it usually smells – porky.

She also sent a couple surprises – like this plug-in warmer…which was perfect for our downstairs bathroom.

I immediately wanted to try out Black Raspberry Vanilla…doesn’t that make you crave pie?  I always want to crave pie when I go to the bathroom 🙂

And while I was in there craving pie, I decided to add a couple more things to the wall and throw a $3 stool in there (I need to refinish it but for now it will be a great perching place for all my friends who are moms of potty-training toddlers). 

I found the woven fan at a local thrift store for $1…and felt like it kinda went okay with the antique horse bit I got from my mom. 

And did you notice my new picture?  I popped it into an old frame (I’m jonesing for a darker frame but didn’t have one the right size in my stash) and called it a day.  I love it.  It reminds me of my old riding days.  Did I ever tell you that I rode?  I did.  English.  I even went to horse camp.  Oh the days of scraping manure of my boots!  Which is a far cry from a bathroom that smells like pie.  

But that isn’t the only room that got an update…nope. 

The guest bedroom was blessed with this baby…I love the morrocan style…the moorish pattern…everything about it screams love me!  (and yes, the light shined just right to make a heart on the wall – collective awww!)

Of course, I had to put some other stuff on the table (uh hello katie, it’s been five months – move the heck in!)

And we popped Love Story in for the guests to enjoy…

I also got some books and stuff into the sidetables.  Oh and see that little covered dish on top?  Yeah – $1 at the thift store…and someone made that bad boy – their initials were carved into the bottom!   Now I can stash things like Swiffer Dusters in there…because obviously I need to have them handy.

The other side needed a little sumpin too…so I grabbed some random crud from the boxes that were still unpacked.  That’s how I roll people.

Oh and I did get some new sheets for the guests.  On sale at Target. 

I love the subtlety of the print.  And they are wrinkle-free…which makes me oh so happy. 

I really feel like nice sheets + a good smelling room is the recipe for a pleasant stay.  I mean, what more could a guest want, right?!  Food and water and a clean bathroom are so overrated.

Okay – but my absolutely favorite thing that came in that giant Scentsy box was this bad boy who we affectionately named Roarie. 

In his back there is a zippered pouch….and in that pouch you place one of these smelly sacks.  That sounded dirty but in all honesty – it is genius.  Will’s nursery smells like the s-word.  ALL THE TIME.  I don’t know why…we must have a renegade diaper issue.  But this way, we don’t have to light a dangerous candle…or deal with spraying the room with Febreeze every three minutes.  Roarie can stay in there and make everything better 🙂  

PLUS – Will kinda loves him.  A LOT. 

In fact, I couldn’t get a decent photo because Will would snatch him up and run away.

Basically all that to say, now that I have smelled and experienced this…I will always be a Scentsy fan.  Yes, I will be spending my husbands hard earned money on this once we run out…and if I ever have another baby, I will be buying another Scentsy Buddy for them.  I figure even after they are diaper free, it’s an awesome Tooth Fairy pocket 🙂

    I got one for Christmas and love it! love story is my favorite. i only have a few scents so i would def have to get blackberry vanilla. My hubs loooooves citrusy smells too (yah know the kind that make you want to go put your toes in the sand) you should try reggae sunset.

Just got back from a loooong road trip with the family, during which I became convinced I need a bumper sticker that reads “Something STINKY this way comes.” I swear 3/4 of all the words I uttered were, “What’s that smell?” which was always answered by somebody’s snickering giggle. Some yummy Scentsy room sprays are just what my abused upholstery needs.

  30. Scentsy me ASAP, seriously, hook a sister up! I too have the “other people’s smell” going on when I walk in my house. We have been here almost 4 months and I have candles going 24/7 (don’t worry, I have a fire extinguisher..safety first!) but still the smells remain. A Scentsy warmer would look great in my kitchen.

I had a hard time limiting the posisible Scentsy bars I would get to Thunderstorm, Inner Peace, Clean Breeze, Tea Party, and Autumn Sunset. Ha…I’m doomed. Here’s hoping I can sniff to my heart’s content! 🙂

I think I would try the plug-in warmer for the bathroom, and the Moroccan-style warmer for the bedroom, and maybe another one for the kitchen. The scents all sound good!

    I have the same problem as you – we have been in our new house for 10 months now, and every once in a while, I get a whiff of the previous owners. It’s not a bad smell…just reminds me of them.     I have heard about Scentsy, and my mom has gone to a party, but I have never personally seen or smelled Scentsy products. Your review makes me so want to now! If I won, I would totally get a plug-in warmer for our bathroom and some yummy scents. And, as an extra, I’d probably also get a warmer or two for other rooms. Hubby says candles make his nose itch, especially Yankee, so if I can get something that won’t bother him and still make our rental smell good (better than neighbor’s cooking, cigarette smoke from other neighbors, musty old carpet with a hint of pet, etc.), then I am so there!

    I have to admit, I had dismissed Scentsy as just another candle company – but you have opened my eyes! WOW! Scentsy is totally NOT a candle company AT ALL! What a wide range of products! Those Scentsy Buddy babies will make awesome gifts for all the newborns in my life – there has been a baby boom (ice storms anyone?) and several of my friends are due in the next few months. Not to mention the babies that are already here (a set of twin boys, a girl and two more boys – not twins, not from the same family).

    For my family, I would have to get warmers with any scent that isn’t floral.

  769. Yes, there are other brands that have come out after Scentsy, but, you will definitly notice a diference in quality. I know a lot of people who have tried them and would never use them again. But you need to find what works for you!

  770. Yep! No soot and no flame! The warmers use a low watt light bulb to warm the wax, which only gets just above body temperature and the only thing that evaporates is the Scent, so no soot on your walls or in your lungs!

  773. The Scent Pak goes into the buddy on the back in a little zippered compartment. I have not heard of anyone eating them, my son will take them in/out (he is 3 1/2). He loves his buddies! Yes, he has more than one!

  777. Nothing made specifically for rugs but the Room Spray may help. It is oil based not alcohol based like other sprays. I have met people who use it as a body spray as well! (I have done this to)

  778. Scentsy is not only the safer way to go vs candles but cheaper! One Scentsy Bar has 60-80 hours of “on” time, which is equivalent to a high end 12 oz candle.

  782. One Scentsy bar lasts 60-80 hours, (when the warmer is on). I typically use just one square (there are 8 squares in a bar). If I want more scent I add another square. You can even do half a square, it just depends on how you like it! After the scent is gone, you just pour the melted wax into the garbage and wipe out the dish with a paper towel. If there is still scent in it, you can pour the wax right back into the container to use again.
